sterling is only a child though. He couldn't hurt a fly with that mincey shove. I will send the mango to a charity of your choice.
but this was all about the ref p[protecting himself with one decision and in Raheem's case he couldn't feign the ignorance of not seeing it..

Bruce rules himself out, Pulis not considered, which still leaves Sherwood leading the rest. Somehow, shockingly, Nigel Worthington's odds have been slashed.......Jesus Christ! Sooner Ashley puts Carver in charge the better until the summer.

Its an odd one. Tp will not have the control he thinks though. Wba will not just bow down and change the wage structure. These smaller clubs just can't do it.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
He is taking the best job on offer.
End of story. He would love control , but the owners are lying to him. Heck they won't even give him the full manager role and have a sporting director. Its not rocket science mate. He left palace because although we bid for players we wouldn'tw offer them 50k plus and breach our wage structure. West brom are a similar team to palace and also won't breach that sort of amount therefore will not sign anyone of note. And there will be the go between to confuse issues even more(sporting director)
The first bit of business will be to sell berihinio(there best player) and then use that money to solidify the team so pulis can start keeping clan sheets.
However I am not down on the signing . he is the best manager possible, they have done well. But if you think pullis has control its based on nativity.

I think it'll be similar to when we had Roy, he worked within the system but had far more control than the likes of Di Matteo, Clarke, Irvine because of his reputation and also the fact our chairman knew Roy wouldn't just be a yes man, which Pulis certainly isn't.
Think we've probably got a bit of a higher wage ceiling than Palace(not much though), Lescott is on 50k a week, Odemwingie was when he was here and Anelka too. Then quite a few are on around the 40k mark. It's the fees which Peace is normally reluctant to splash out on. Be interested to see how it goes for sure. Also, I don't think Berahino will go this window. Lots of paper talk at the moment, nothing concrete, and I don't really think he's ready for the step-up yet(he will be eventually I'm sure)
Certainly the best man we could have got for the job, and I feel a lot more confident in our survival chances with Pulis running the show than Irvine.
Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Pulis will come in, steady the ship and effectively save the club from relegation.
Sometime within the following year the Baggies will hit a sticky patch, the fans will moan in their droves and cite his style of play and another change will be made.

Let's see how he does at Reading.
Had 3 good months on the back of Hodgson's reign, and then did nothing in his remaining 12 months at the club. But hey, I only watch them every week, clearly you're in a far better position to judge Clarke than me.

Yeah, or any club outside of the top 7?
Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I do find it amazing how people still point to Steve Clarke's dismissal being the wrong choice. I thought it initially, until my friend who is WBA fan and a season ticket holder pointed out he'd won 4 games in a whole year, which quite frankly is awful. People point to his league finish but that was built on half a season.
Pulis is a good appointment. I don't think people can point to this particular style of play he's often tarnished with. At Palace, yes they were well organised and defender well, but they also played some very good football to say the least. I think he can do the same at WBA with some of the better technical players they have, but he'll need to sign 2/3 players in Jan. I also think if a bid of more than 20m comes in for Berahino they'd be mad not to take it. Could buy a handy striker for that amount, plus a couple of decent midfielder's. He's promising but never worth that amount.

Carver now fav at 7/4, followed by McClaren & Sherwood @ 5/1
Being delayed the Pardew deal due to negotiations with backroom staff, namely the future of Andy Woodman & his son Freddie, who's the U-17 keeper for England.

It has nothing to with consistency, no officials say they saw the Shelvey one while the linesman said he saw Sterlings. It has everything to do with the quality of officials in England.

Take the blinkers off Hampo, as a decision it sucks and screams of big club bias, they should both have been retrospectively banned and there is no reasonable excuse why they weren't.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Not being funny. But the FA were not exactly happy with rodgers comments that England over used sterling when he has played the most minutes this year as an outfield player. Sterling has also been promised a break in Jan from starting. So any ban wouldn't have really been a tough decision on Liverpool.
I am not paranoid about this its just what the officials have said added to the stupid rules by the fa protecting the officials.

The reasonable excuse it that the linesman couldn't, in any realistic light, say he didn't see the incident as he was standing between the players. If you can't see that then you're clueless. Please try and remember that the officials have to say they didn't see it before spouting complete and utter nonsense.

He's just taken the easy route Nando, the linesman had no such option? The only thing he could say is that he was giving Fernandes an ear exam

So at the same time you're saying that the referee didn't the Shelvey elbow that happened right in front of his eyes?
It's incompetence no matter how you look at it Hampo, if the linesman saw it then Sterling should have been sent off so there really isn't any reasonable excuse why he isn't currently banned. I digress there is, he plays for Liverpool and as we saw with the pre season red cards a few years ago it works differently if you play for Liverpool.
The complete and utter nonsense here is you trying to defend the decision that has been taken, something that is beyond defence.

As I said at the time Hammer, we see officials try and even up decisions all the time and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what happened here, I also said that he should have been sent off. If you give me a plausible reason the linesman could say post game why he didn't see the incident feel free to post it, simply put the referee and more room to wiggle out of his decision than the linesman did. So much easier to say my eyes weren't on the players head than I missed the slap despite it being inches from my face.

you are both right.
the ref said he didn't see the shelvey incident.
the linesman said he saw the sterling incident.
the law should change- officials make mistakes even if there eyes and brain supposedly function correctly.

There is no legitimate reason, bar a very inconsistent rule, for why Sterling should not have been banned.
If the linesman said he saw Sterling's slap, then the Liverpool player has to be sent off. Seeing as how the linesman somehow failed in his duty, a retrospective ban should be put in place, just like with Shelvey, by the FA.
There is no consistency with the rule.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
The rule is the same for every club and as such there is consistency that if an official says he saw it no retrospective action can be taken. That is the same for every club. As far as I'm concerned both officials saw both incidents and did nothing for either, that just makes them poor their job like 99% of premier league officials.

Great appointment, and Freek's sum up is just another reason for my dislike of west brom. To be fair, it is one of 3 clubs I never liked again after Hodgson left them. Liverpool and the wholepig being t'others
