We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Who would have thought that Liverpool's strength would be the defence after the start to the season!

Didi Hamann is right about us looking better without Sturridge, not sharp enough at all, his movement has not been good enough most games.

Scousers 1-0 - Henderson
Amat hit it against him and lobbed the keeper.

You're doing him a bit of disservice there Nando, he clearly opens his foot intending to lob the keeper. Goal of the season easily

Liverpool workmanlike at best, would be embarrassing to see them in the Champions League in 2015-16.

Because Manchester United and Tottenham have been playing some fantastic football this year?

East has had an ok game, my only gripe is Liverpool players getting booked on there first foul. Shelvey and Taylor have both gotten away with a few that have been just as bad.

Because Liverpool are the finished article aren't they? Still building, a lot of money spent to improve the squad depth before the sale of Suarez in the summer. As for Spurs, they've been two years away from their peak for the last decade.

One things for sure, we need to play much much better on Sunday if we hope to win! Credit to BR, slight changes in the second half changed the game. And credit to mignolet, kept us in it that first half!

Liverpool are rebuilding and not at their peak: they have an incredibly young side. Of those who regularly start, only Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard are over 30. Most who start are under 25. Tonight's team had Emre Can; 20, Mamadou Sakho; 25, Raheem Sterling; 20, Jordan Henderson; 24, Joe Allen; 25, Alberto Moreno; 22, Philippe Coutinho; 22, Adam Lallana; 26 and Daniel Sturridge; 25. Then Mignolet is 27, young for a goalkeeper and even 30 for a centre back isn't too old.
Don't make excuses for the other top four rivals, when Liverpool are in very similar circumstances. They have had a much longer sustained run of good results and good football than either Manchester United or Tottenham have had, as well as progressing in both the League Cup and FA Cup.

Rebuilding to what? This has been their level for 20 years.
Great win tonight, whoever gets top 4 will have to earn it/deserve it.
Massive game come sunday.

Whilst Liverpool are a little ahead in their rebuild than United and Spurs, they are still in a process of revolution.

Saying that he is 67!!
A nice pension package for him.
Not sure if he has the vitality, the PL is a tough gig.

Don't really see this as an impressive appointment. He's been a journeyman national manager for some time, doubt he's got long term plans & as you say, PL is a tough gig, made tougher going to a club like Sunderland.

So is Van Gaal but he's a tactical genius so it's probably going to be OK

What? Age is no barrier to success if you're a tactical genius and, after watching Utd dismantle an utter inept Spurs side at the weekend, it's clear that after a paltry 29 games tinkering with the system, Van Gaal has hit upon the perfect plan....it's just a matter of getting the FA to agree to Utd using a time machine to play that Spurs side every week, but in Van Gaal we trust.
(I'll regret this sarcasm when they beat us on Sunday)

This is probably as confident as I could be going into a Liverpool- United game (apart from Old trafford last season). Makes a nice change to the many MANY years of knowing that we were in for a pasting!
Expecting a very close game either way.

Think we'll surprise a few people on Sunday.
Should be a good game, enough good players but still weaknesses on display for a few goals.
Avoiding defeat will suit us well for top four.

Yeah the problem for Liverpool is Manchester United would be a lot more happy with the draw.

To be fair a draw wouldn't be the end of the road for Liverpool either (a defeat could well be).
