What a goal. Harry Kane really does tick a lot of boxes to be an exceptional premiership striker. He's English always a bonus.

Lampard is gonna be the difference between the two teams this season... If only Chelsea had a player on the bench who could score ten a season, about half of them being matchwinners

Chelsea will still be champions this season - they are just having a minor blip on the road to success.

It's a bit more than a minor blip Duty, i'm just peeved as a United fan that we've dropped stupid points against Villa and Stoke while we should have been out of sight against Tottenham.

Courtois is having his settling in season, much like De Gea had last season. But with a worldie like Cech on the bench, and Chelsea actually challenging for honours this season, don't know how long Mourinho persists.

Mourinho would be a fool to drop Courtois. He's been one of the three best keepers this year. He's not even close to being one of Chelsea's problems. Cahill and Ivanovic have been rank defensively this year. Zouna's promising, but big money will spent on a CB this summer. At the latest.

Can't blame the guy, Think last season's collapse has taken a toll on him tbh. Deserves a nice pay day. Apparently NYC FC are interested too...Id love to see Gerrard at Citeh on loan just for the reactions of Scousers if that happened

So next year the New York midfield will be Gerrard & Lampard, it worked so well for England for ten years.

His goals have been massively important in recent weeks but I don't think his overall play has been that great, they do get over run in Midfield a bit with him on the pitch.

It's a combination of apathy, trepidation and not wanting to get ahead of ourselves, he's on a good run of form but it's far too early to say he's class.

Kane has more potential than Austin but at this stage of the season i'd rather have Austin's 12 league goals than Kane's seven, his stats are helped by the league cup and Europa League. Not wanting to disregard either competition but they aren't the best indicator of class.

Arsenal's defending never fails to amuse me. Still think Arsenal will get 4th (as always) but must say Southampton did just look a much better football team than them.

Kane's also playing in a better team, better situation.
I like them all, but they're gonna have to do it a little more time before they're officially the next big things.

Austin turns 26 when next season starts. Is he young enough to be seen as the "next big thing"? Maybe he's more "Better than expected"? Harry Kane for my money has a higher ceiling, but Austin is operating at a higher level at the moment. To be so close to Costa on the charts while dragging that trainwreck is no mean feat.

hammersmith- austin has played in 1600 mins of league football- kane only 987
kane has scored everywhere he goes(all good stats at his loan clubs and england age levels- for example 8 in 10 for the under 21's)
kane is 4 years younger than austin
both have 3 premier league assits- kanes have been during 600 mins less
he has also scored 17 goals this season in only 100 more minutes than Austin's 12 in league(austin has only played league)-
Austin has also taken penalties- kane hasnt..

I would say Rooney has played very well so far this season. but Kane for the minutes he has played in the league and his age is the shining light for English football. He looks the proper no 9. Like Carroll all those years ago but even better. fingers crossed for Kane.. #touchwood
Its a bit sad that the only reason he got his chance was due to totenhams ballz up signings last season.. No one at Tottenham thought he had potential(certainly not the fans)
It just makes me think- how many other English players could also be lighting up the PL given the chance. Chelsea has loads of them all hidden away...

What I liked about Harry Kane yesterday was the strength he shown against a physical Chelsea team. He wasn't going to get bullied of the ball. Agree it's too early to 'hail him as the new messiah' as we have seen plenty come and go. Good to see Jack Rodwell scoring yesterday. Kane does have plenty of talent though and it would surprise me if he went onto bigger and better things.NickisBHAFC wrote:Harry Kane really is class. What a game of football
If Roy Hodgson was serious when he said he was going to pick the England team on form rather than reputation (not sure he has done that so far though) Kane should be a shoe-in for the next England squad. Would like to see England play Kane up front with Rooney behind in a deeper role and actually play some wide players to stretch teams.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I'm a QPR fan and Charlie Austin has been fantastic for us in the last two seasons but Harry Kane has much more to his game than Austin. Austin is more of a goal poacher. If I had to compare styles I would say Austin is more like Diego Costa and Harry Kane is more of an Ibrahimovich type of player.Hammersmith harrier wrote:Hero wrote:Olly wrote:Good signs, but as HH says too early to go crazy yet over Kane.
