Idiot Hamilton, they could have drop kicked the conversion and got another chance if they didn't waste time there

Jim Hamilton can't help himself!!
There should have been one more phase of play there. No evidence we'd have scored off it mind.

Re: 6N Round 2: Scotland v Wales, 15 February
Once again way too many errors for Scotland. We could bicker about refereeing decisions all night (I have no doubt some of you will), but Laidlaw has to take a big part of the blame for that loss. We were camped on their try line with time still to win the match and he was headless. I want to see SHC start, he can ignite this exciting young backline and boss the forwards in a way Laidlaw just can't.

That was a disgusting display of refereeing from Glenn Jackson. He should hang his head in shame.
This isn't a question of interpretation, it's simple timekeeping. If the kick is converted before the 80 minutes is up, you HAVE TO allow the restart.
I'm sure I'll calm down in April.

Sam running for the line. Stopped by a high tackle by the last Welsh defender. Try not given due to s knock on.
No ref.
Read your rule book. Penalty committed to prevent a score = yellow card and a penalty try

From a neutral Englishman, who did not care who won out of Scotland and Wales, that was an absolute embarrassment from the referee.
Scotland still made far too many errors, though, and a clinical edge was lacking.

I am not a big one for blaming ref's for bad games but that was a terrible performance in the second half from Jackson.
How Wales did not see a yellow for persistent professionals fouls, I will never know.
Commiserations Scotland, always so close but so far away. I keep thinking that it will click for you guys but it never really does.

Nearly again
I'm going to sulk. Scotland should have won that - three times at least Wales held out on their goaline. don't whinge about the ref. Its the scotland team that did not take those chances and thats why we lost. Not the best reffing performance but not that bad.

Probably worth dropping Laidlaw even if he is captain, too ponderous and made shocking decisions at times. Hamilton having a scuffle was just mind numbingly stupid even for him, get the damn conversion over and stop wasting time.

Yes I agree, too busy squashing JD on the floor and being a bully, he wasted about 20 seconds messing about there which brought the referee into it.BamBam wrote:Idiot Hamilton, they could have drop kicked the conversion and got another chance if they didn't waste time there
It's a shame Wales gave away that try at the end, it made the score looks closer than it should of been.
Also one more thing that needs saying is the time of the game isnt the BBC clock, we've had this discussion before. It's the TMO's clock that runs the game.

Got to laugh at All these accusations from the usual whinging posters, every single WALES game you're all out in full force. Go take a look at the scoreboard, that's our 8th straight win over Scotland and for the matches on here the ref has been blamed on every occassion. That was one of the worst Wales performances in years and Scotland still can't beat us - we can for now safely say no corner has been turned.
Well done Wales, but don't expect any congratulations from the supposed 'neutrals.'

Absolutely, 100%. You can't control the refereeing decisions, you can keep your composure when camped on the opposition line. That we didn't win that game is down to the Scottish players, full stop!

If I ever hear a "Welsh" person complaining of other teams illegal habits again, I'll explode! How many times can a player fall onto the oppositions side at tackle and breakdown "accidently". Ref blew it time and time again

Even Jiffy was dumbfounded at some of Jackson's decisions, the high tackle on Sam H-C not resulting in a yellow card or pen try probably the icing on the cake.

Agree, it's a bold move but Hidalgo-Clyne should start against Italy.
Hamilton should be taken off the bench for Toolis, and Strokosch for Brown. Strokosch has added nothing off the bench in two games now.

Re: 6N Round 2: Scotland v Wales, 15 February
We have seen three dreadful referees this weekend but Glen Jackson takes the biscuit for sheer incompetence.
Wales score a try after a clear high tackle. Numerous penalties in the red zone and no card for Wales. Clearly time on the clock after the conversion and he blows the whistle.

We were rubbish as usual but Jackson, didn't look at two possible tries, must have bypassed about 5 or 6 penalties given away 5 meters out no card, a friggin high tackle stopping a try STILL NO CARD and can't even keep time properly. Utterly useless!
It's a shame though, we had the upper hand on the set piece created numerous chances but it's just the same old story and it's very boring!

Yup and Yup. SHC is on top form right now but start him? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Italy next isn't it? This team has had two games and its not quite clicked. Maybe its time for a bit of a shake up.

Why is Strokosch anywhere near the team? Is he not playing 2nd division rugby? Barclay had another good game for the Scarlets today aswell...

I am a neutral and will say well done to Wales on the win, overall I believe they were the better side today. That said, you cannot deny that Wales lived a very charmed life in the last 7 mins by keeping a full compliment of players on the field when realistically, they should have seen a yellow card for persistent professional fouls. That may or may not have changed to outcome of the match but even the most rose tinted Welsh fan must admit at least that

A really hard fought win for Wales. But how many yellow cards did Wales get away with in the last 5/10 minutes

Why? Scrum or lineout is game over?
The game is deemed not to have restarted I guess but that would have been the outcome if it occured.

I think if ref thinks it was deliberately kicked out it is a penalty.JDizzle wrote:No 7&1/2 wrote:JDizzle wrote:Genuine question, if Wales had just kicked the kick off out of play, would that have been game over anyway?
Braindead from Hamilton too, just get up and run back.
No would have been a scrum on half was to Scotland.

In fairness to Wales, very good defensively and a very impressive display with the high ball, Halfpenny and Biggar were superb in that area.

If time expires and the ball is not dead, or an awarded scrum or lineout has not been completed, the referee allows play to continue until the next time that the ball becomes dead. The ball becomes dead when the referee would have awarded a scrum, lineout, an option to the non-infringing team, drop out or after a conversion or successful penalty kick at goal. If a scrum has to be reset, the scrum has not been completed. If time expires and a mark, free kick or penalty kick is then awarded, the referee allows play to continue.
My interpretation of that is that the game would have been over had Wales kicked the kick off out?

Suspected nepotism from the fallout of Kelly Brown with Scott Johnson from last year. The fat Aussie bluffer is still in the SRU and is probably one of the leading reasons for Brown not being included.

The ball was dead after the try.

As above - if done deliberately without bouncing its a penalty offence.
