Nasri the lesbian booked lucky not to be sent off.

Barca surround the ref as standard.

Neymar goes down easier than a cheap hooker. Although after watching the replay that wasn't even a tackle, he just kicked him.

To be honest, I'm not sure why surrounding the ref has suddenly become a vile act.. Been, around for a good while now. Rather unnecessary, as I'm not sure it has a reasonable success rate, but if you're not gonna be booked for enquiring... why not

Another limp season for Citeh in Europe.

Nasri should have been sent off for violent conduct.

Barcelona can rack up a big score here.

I say it every time, when a referee starts rewarding diving then the other team starts to kick them and give them a reason to go down, it's the divers fault in the first place.

. In fairness there is a grain of truth in it, remember Ronaldo at Utd, threw himself on the floor a bit, wound up the opponents, got a kicking and won a shed load of free kicks as a result.

You have the referee and the initial cheat to blame also, it's human nature and it would be stupid to ignore that it's a factor.

What does that prove though? You sack your manager and bring in a load of new players, players will take time to gel as a unit and get used to the tactics of the new manager, and then before it all settles City fans will be calling for his head again.

MOTM = Messi

Hart close second. If aguero scored his performance might have meant something.

But Barca just too good for city. Simples.

Scoreline flatters City after the multitude of chances that either Barcelona missed or Hart saved.

Juventus have to be a good outside bet for the Champions League.

Post by Crimey Wed 18 Mar 2015 - 21:44

I wrote an article not the long ago for the V2 Journal about Manchester City's failings in the transfer market (cheap plug!) and I think those failings are being shown this year again. They simply don't make enough quality signings, the last were in 2011, which is woeful. They do really need to get a big revamp of the squad, but with mediocre players on too high wages, they're going to struggle to sell many without making a big loss on them and with FFP breathing down their neck, they can't afford to do that.

Don't think Pellegrini is the problem, he's a good manager, not great, but they're not going to be many managers better than him available. Ancelotti if he leaves, but that's not for certain. Whoever is in charge of transfers needs to be looked at, they have repeatedly failed to deliver. The players have not been good enough, Yaya Toure too often is happy to let games go past him, Kompany seems to have forgotten how to play football and Aguero simply isn't fit enough. The team has no reliable players other than James Milner and Zabaleta, the former is reliable but not special whilst the latter is a right back so isn't in the position to change results of games.

With the money pumped in and the players Manchester City have as a core, they should be doing much better domestically and on a European level, they should be dominating the league no problem and they should have at least reached a semi-final in Europe by now. Their progress has stalled since 2011-12 season.

I think a big reason for Joe Hart looking better recently, is that like the goalkeepers that shine for relegation sides, the defence in front of him has been so poor he is being tested a lot more, allowing him to grow in confidence in shot-stopping. He seems to struggle when asked to do not a lot of a long time and then have to pull off a save.

At a guess I would say there are three £300mil first teams and three more that cost well over £150mil so not sure why City do get singled out, will be honest I find it bizarre how Chelsea get so much money for some mediocre players.

Luiz, however limited in defence, is still a quality, technically gifted player, who can score, pass, take set-pieces & knows how to manipulate referees to his advantage, a key play in today's football. £40m was a good deal, but he's still a very good player & he just knocked Chelsea out the cup, signifying his importance & value to PSG.

Kevin De Bruyne is now one of the hottest properties in Europe, once he was given the opportunity to shine. 15+ goals & 22 assists in Germany proves that & while Chelsea got £18m, he's now commanding a fee of £35m, one year later. Schurlle was a quality player & a World Cup winner, no surprise he was sold for over £20m.

Were they mediocre players or just handcuffed in Jose's restrictive style?

Having seen a succession of talented young attackers fail to develop at Chelsea, you have to ask why someone like Cuadrado would sign there. Better to go to a Dortmund / Roma type side, surely?

It was £50 million, wasn't it?

And don't you think being limited in defence is a pretty poor attribute for a defender to have?

I thought it was £40m to be honest. Although he can be special needs in defence on occassions, he's still a technically gifted player with the ball & can play midfield in a style that suits PSG. He's just kept Costa quiet & was the difference maker in the champions league tie, think it's easy to judge him tirelessly on that WC semi, it was a horrifying team performance, not solely his fault.
