Cracking shot by Quillin, lee did well to survive that round, but very lazy defence was far too easy

Re: Tonight's Action
Almost a carbon copy of the knockdown Lee suffered against Jackson there. Countered with a big right over the top of his own. Think the bell saved him there.

Re: Tonight's Action
Not convinced that was a legit knockdown....Shame for Lee because he landed some goo stuff in the third and it may have been his round otherwise. Interesting replay between rounds now....

Quillin doesn't look comfortable under pressure. But is Lee brave enough to push him?

Re: Tonight's Action
Have often thought the same when I've watched Quillin, Happytravelling. Looks uneasy when someone really gets at him although unlike the Rosado fight, his body mechanics haven't completely fallen apart when pressured as they did there at times.
Lee didn't do much in the fourth, Quillin did even less.

Quillin truly back in control in the fifth. Right hand working very nicely and seems to be buckling Lee's knees whenever he lands it down the pipe.

Re: Tonight's Action
Why does Lee keep rotating clockwise onto Quillin's right? Surely, this is pretty basic. Move away from his most potent punch.

To nick a quote of Mickey Duff's and adapt it here: "Congratulations, Andy, you've just got back in the fight." Down from a right hand counter over his own right in the first, now he repays the compliment in the seventh.
Enjoyable fight, this one.

Re: Tonight's Action
Its a bit frustrating. Lee should be circling anti clockwise, using the jab and right hook.
But, its a good fight. Could go either way.

Re: Tonight's Action
Some close rounds here, with Lee arguably a shade more deserving. If the judges agree then there's a conceivability that the win could still be on if he sweeps the last three. But as I said, the last couple of rounds have been tight. I had the eighth even with Lee edging the ninth.

Re: Tonight's Action
Chris, Farhood on NBC has Quillin a single round up which seems a bit too generous for Lee in my opinion.

The last 6 rounds of that fight were awful, seemed a case of who was doing ever so slightly more than the one doing nothing.

Re: Tonight's Action
Given the two early 10-8 rounds, I think Lee has lost this. Especially as he's not the home fighter.
But, I thought he won the last two rounds, relatively clearly.
I want him to win but think the home fighter will get it.

Pretty tame effort by both fighters. Neither really looked to take control of the fight.

Re: Tonight's Action
Don't know, Hammersmith - I could see that if you happened to give Lee the lion's share of the close rounds, and rounds 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 were pretty tricky ones.
I've got Quillin up 114-113 but could see it being wider due to the nature of the aforementioned rounds. Lee just gave himself a bit too much to do with that horror start in rounds 1-3 in my opinion.

Re: Tonight's Action
A draw. No disgrace there in my opinion although I'd say it's ever so slightly kinder to Lee than it is Quillin.
Very interesting fight despite the action trailing off in the last few rounds. Strengths and weaknesses aplenty on show for both guys.

Re: Tonight's Action
Fair play to Lee for fighting back from the two early knockdowns but Quillin threw that fight away really. I honestly expected the judges to have some pretty daft cards.

A split decision draw, considering Quillin did nothing after the 5th round knockdown can't have too many complaints.

GGG would blast either out the ring and Murray would manhandle the two of them all night.
But, good for Andy. I am glad he gets to make a bit more money.

Fair result. Quillen didnt really deserve to win the way he just coasted looking for single shots and Lee averageness was rewarded.
I would be raging if I was in Qullens corner. Didnt listen to a word they said and boxed like a man whoi thought he had already won.

Yeah Hampo, good to see a fight returning three perfectly reasonable and sensible cards. 113-112 to each guy and then a 113-113 to even things up looks pretty much in line with the kind of scores we've all got.

Have always thought that Garcia ain't the best at chasing a fight or forcing the issue. Peterson isn't committing enough to win the rounds but Garcia has looked pretty toothless so far.

Peterson is literally running at points but Garcia seems completely baffled by the smallest bit of foot movement, these Haymon cards are turning out to be tosh so far.

Re: Tonight's Action
Rawling and Jones definitely seem to have a bit of a sway towards Peterson here. Garcia's body shots are hardly getting a mention. Guess I'm missing the "brilliant" performance from Peterson they're talking about.
That said, Garcia needs a round soon to re-establish himself here. In danger of letting it get away.

Well, while I'm not as overwhelmed with Peterson as the BoxNation team are, no denying he's won the tenth and eleventh pretty big. If he does the same in the twelfth he may well get this - and my heart will sink a little.

115-113 Peterson for me Chris, with no titles on the line what does it really matter.

Oh dear, technical clanger as we hear that "Garcia has it by majority decision" unintentionally from the MC before it's officially announced. I've got Peterson a point up.

Starting to think Garcia is the luckiest boxer around at the moment, whilst a close fight I can't make an argument for him winning that.

I turned it off after 7, couldn't bring myself to watch anymore of that garbage. By the sounds of it though Garcia gets yet another lucky decision, I make that 3 now I believe.

One good thing to come from that decision though is that Peterson now loses the IBF title.

Khan deserves shooting for losing to both of these guys.
Theophane, Herrera and now Peterson, starting to reassess the Judah, Khan and Matthyse fights now as well.

No he doesn't Hampo, he'll be free to defend it against second tier opponents until his next catchweight fight against anyone decent.

Wow yet another lucky win for Garcia. Such a shame.
Got to go down as one of the luckiest champions ever.
Peterson won for me 115-112.
Think he does lose the title Hammer according to earlier reports but like you say, believe it when we see it.

Re: Tonight's Action
Haven't seen the fight yet but by Garcia's comments- 'the weight has been affecting my performances,' sounds like he's been fortunate again. Although you see the odd whisper he hasn't been quite the same since Matthysse. Not saying there's any truth in that mind.
It does rankle however how fighters are allowed to rehydrate so that invariably these days they are coming into a bout weighing one and sometimes even two weight classes above. The disparity in weight that can occur between two opponents is also a cause for irritation.
I think most of us are all for 24hr weigh ins which are clearly a whole lot safer but is it now time to readdress the whole situation and introduce as standard rehydration limits, say 10lbs?
