Tonight's action
I see these started whenever there's a big fight on so I thought I'd be the one to start tonight's. Ok, there's no real big, competitive fight on, but hey.
So, tonight we have a few in interested (slightly) in: Groves, Joshua, Whyte and Mayweather.
My take? The guy Groves is fighting seems like the kind he was knocking out before he fought Froch. If he hasn't been broken by those two fights then I expect (and hope) for a stoppage in his favour.
Joshua I expect to win by stoppage within a few rounds, despite the nonsense hype. I was struck by Cornish's trainer saying that they fought similar level opponents, so I looked it up. He's fought, like, only three opponents with winning records. They're both 'untested', but they're records are a mile apart. Don't get me wrong, Cornish is coming to win, but only because he's undefeated and this circus has probably convinced him that this means they're equivalent. They're not. It's a mismatch.
Whyte will win by KO also. Another mismatch; a foregone conclusion, arranged to ensure nothing goes off the rails with regards to his and Joshua's 'rematch'.
Mayweather and Berto? UD. Hoping for a miraculous Berto KO, but Mayweather is a genius. I can't stand the guy, but he's head and shoulders above anyone in his weight division and is a living embodiment of the beautiful science. He will win. Clearly. He is a massive Mr Winklechops though and that really can't be overstated enough, I have to say.
Please post the action as it happens. I'll be following.

Re: Tonight's action
Joshuas got it easy, think Groves will win a wide UD and don't care about Mayweather, it's a nothing fight and i'm not fussed if he retires or carries on tbh.
The main fight for me tonight is Dave Ryan vs John Wayne Hibbert, both men are well up for it and think they've got what it takes to beat the other. It's a rematch of their fantastic fight from the Brook/Gavin card which was swings and roundabouts up until the bout was stopped os JWH was shattered. He says he's ready for it this time and knows what he did wrong.
C'mon Rocky you can do it (But if JWH wins i won't be too upset as he's a nice guy too)

Re: Tonight's action
Literally zero build up for the mayweather fight and good reason, not even worth streaming for free
Groves should win but it could be difficult for him, but he's better than jack
Easy wins for Joshua and Whyte
Best fight of the night is a competitive fight between salido and martinez, although unsure what either fighter have left though but should be a good fight

Re: Tonight's action
Thanks wheelchair. I'm quite enjoying that fight!
The best fights are in the undercards.
As Derby days, Ryan v JWH could be a good match.
Other than that the groves v jack should be good, but expect Groves to win.
The Martinez v solida fight looks good to.
But Joshua v Cornish and whyte v minto are warm up fights for the British title later in the year.
Floyd v Berto is just dire and I won't stay up for it.

I am glad that Charlie won for no other reason than he wore shorter shorts. Looks the part, like Luke Campbell.
Re: Tonight's action
Good win for Charlie. Looked good in only his 5th fight. Quite enjoyed the fight.

Re: Tonight's action
White looks huge next to minto. But he also looks clumsy and has taken some shots that would have floored them had his opponent been a proper heavy.
Re: Tonight's action
Ok, Whyte's getting ruined by Joshua.

I've become a Brian minto fan!
He's starting to gas but he's pushing whyte back, despite being 2.5 St lighter.
Minto I'd exposing whyte a little.

Very harsh from the crowd.
Minto giving up 2.5 st gets caught and they boo him. He most definitely gave it his best.
Sounds like a punctured ear drum.

Re: Tonight's action
White has a punchers chance and that's about it in my opinion (against Joshua of course)

White looks pretty ordinary. A puncher, but not much more.

It was to do with the really weak last punch. Probably hard to notice in the arena it wasn't that punch that won it.Happytravelling wrote:Very harsh from the crowd.

The mayweather fight isn't until the earlier hours, so I don't know what you expect us to talk about whilst live boxing is on.
So I suggest you take your attitude and shove it up your arse and the arse of whatever rent boy is hanging out of your backside right now.
Re: Tonight's action
Onetwo go to bed. You've had enough.
Floyd has taken a soft defence. We all know it. We want competitive fights not sparring sessions.
You really need to consider whether you're a sport or exhibition fan with that comment.

Scott, you're probably right.
From what they were saying about minto's balance etc it sounds like a burst ear drum or similar.
Minto gave a real account of himself and, sadly/helpfully, showed some of whyte's limitations/areas of weakness.

Re: Tonight's action
Me, my 3 dogs, missus, 2 kids, fans in the arena and those watching at home will all enjoy the show. It's gonna be a cracking fight and i'd rather watch the pair of them than watch a one sided supposed last contest. You've been quick to complain about the last few cards (rightly so) but then try and state Berto's a good opponent for the best in the world at this time. Don't make me laugh, even Truss and AdamT have stated it's a weak opponent (no offence lads).
Go to bed and set your alarm for the snorefest and we'll let you know how the local lads do.
On another note, dunno if you realise but if you don't support the boxers coming up then there'll be no incentive for anybody to try boxing you pleb

Sport or exhibition fan????
I have forgotten more about boxing then you actually know about boxing.
This is Floyd's night. So what if the fight is on later lets talk about it, let talk about Floyd's career, lets talk about Floyds future' lets ALL celebrate the man who has kept boxing alive the last 15 years.

Yep because is the only night you'll get to talk about Floyd and have the spotlight on him is today, you absolute 100 percent prat. You haven't had much to forget judging by the rest of your posts.
Anyway the best fight of the night is just about to start, might be better off for you to stick to watching the X factor or something, looks like it could be their last season too, you could sit and talk about Cowells career and such.

Scott, possibly but he was getting pushed back by a lad much lighter.
One fight is never a barometer of a fighter and whyte is still a relative novice.
It was a good fight for whyte. He will have learnt a lot. But kudos to minto for giving it a go.

It comes down to the governing body, for the WBC and WBA it's Super Lightweight for the IBF and WBO it's Light/junior Welterweight.

Not entirely sure starting touching his back and dropped down then didn't defend and got hit by a big right & the ref stopped it since weren't defending himself.
