Tonights Action
First topic message reminder :
Evening guys, who's tuning in to tonights action then?
Starting us off is Boxnation which is showing Enzo vs Roy Jones JR that card has already started.
Anybody see any upsets happening?

Think I might be the only person on here that's backed Dillian Whyte and its not looking totally ridiculous at the moment!

Is Whyte going to test Joshua's engine?

Re: Tonights Action
Although that was better. Have AJ slightly ahead by 1 or 2 but it's close and AJ is fading but after that round Whyte is as well by the look of things

They both look tired. AJ looks flat footed to me although still dangerous when he throws.

Yeh AJ looks to have refocused good body shots there. Think this could be over in next couple rounds if he keeps planting them shots......if he has the stamina!!

Turning into a boxing match now. Both guys power has reduced. Joshua to control from this point on.

Re: Tonights Action
That was a better fight than expected, actually impressed with how AJ performed after the third, settled down and started to grind him down instead of looking for the one punch KO. Devastating KO in the end.

Definitely came out too cocky in round two, and fair play to Whyte he made him pay. Once Joshua settled down he was clearly a class above. He needs to move his head more tho going forward

Re: Tonights Action
Frightening end to that, excellent finish by Joshua.
His stamina looked a little suspect and he looked in big trouble in the second round.

AJ looked too robotic with no head movement so this might have been the best thing to happen to AJ because it might calm some on the AJ bandwagon down, he needs more fights before going after world titles

Re: Tonights Action
Stamina definitely looks like an issue. I wouldn't say he's chinny by any means but are there now questions marks over the chin? For me there was a lack of overall movement from him as well. Looked quite flat footed and didn't try to box his way to the big Poopie very often.
Still big things on the cards for AJ but he's definitely not invincible

Re: Tonights Action
he needed this test, should re-focus him on areas that need improving. Some areas got exposed tonight. hope hearn hasn't got frightened & pulls in the reins on AJ for a while, with some easy defences or match-ups, needs to keep upping the opposition. As for the bigger picture, nowhere near ready for world titles, not totally sure about him now just bulldozing his way through to Fury either.

Re: Tonights Action
surely that fight showed exactly why Joshua still needs fights to learn? And he'll have learned a lot from that one, that's for sure. Started very strongly, but got cocky/angry/lost focus, and nearly cost him very dearly. Don't think there's much wrong with the chin, that was a big shot he took from Whyte in the second to be fair, did well to recover. From R4 or so, much better from Joshua, outboxing his opponent, and then a great finish.
Would like to see Joshua throw the jab more, at times seemed to be overly focused on power shots, while his defense obviously needs some tightening too. Still, a fun fight to watch, and credit to Whyte for standing up to the barrage in the first round.

If Facebook is anything to go by then the bandwagon is breaking the speed limit. Joshua is still a novice that's beaten another novice.
He's a long way off Fury, Wlad, Povetkin and Wilder. Haye would be too quick for him.
Good finish in the end though and maybe Dillian comes again and makes the win better.

Re: Tonights Action
Was listening to the main event on 5live. Seems like Joshua was too emotional whilst producing an amazing finish.
Eddie is matching his fighters too hard too soon. Campbell got exposed and Joshua was in trouble. I think they need at least minimum 20 fights before a world title crack. Dont rush it, fight the best of Britain, then Europe and then World

Re: Tonights Action
Definitely wouldn't say he is far off Fury. I'd say in two fights time he will rip Furys head off....
Good learning fights shows he can go rounds and he can take a punch. Settled down and looked good when he had done.
Think he can win a title and after a few tweaks can dominate for years. His power is just freakish.

Re: Tonights Action
AJ doesn't need to be the second coming to be a big player in the division, Povetkin would be his major bogeyman; good chin, great engine and big power.

Re: Tonights Action
That would be ideal if they didn't figjt only 2 or 3 times a years. Means after 20 fights it'll be 6-7 years....if you starting in the pro ranks at 26 or so then you need to be cracking at 29 ish I'd say....but I'm no pro or promoter so I know Poopie on this.
On a side note, where the hell is Anthony Agogo?!

Re: Tonights Action
I understand your point but look what happened. Campbell got schooled.
I think Joshua should look at Del Boy, Price, Dallas next.
The problem with this being a great fight is that Eddie will be encouraged to put more stuff on PPV

Re: Tonights Action
If fans/promoters weren't overly attached to the big '0' it wouldn't matter. Joshua will have learned more from tonight's fight than his previous 14 put together. Campbell will also have learned a lot from tonight, and hopefully will come back stronger.

Re: Tonights Action
I was going to say exactly that. Campbell lost but it isnt the end of the world. Mendy is tough. He would have learnt more from that than 2-3 fights with Coyle. Sky need to calm down.

Re: Tonights Action
Whyte would be a good rematch (obviously not on PPV) it would be the same result, in much the same fashion, but with more improvement from Joshua - but it would be another good work out him. Then, onto the European title (against Erkan Teper).
I'd like to see him win the Lonsdale outright so a couple of quick defences against Chisora, and Hughie Fury/David Haye, before fighting Tyson Fury in December (fighting to avenge the beating his cousin took at Joshua hands).
