Frampton v Quigg - Fight Night - Page 4 Empty Frampton v Quigg - Fight Night

First topic message reminder :

Amazed there is no dedicated thread for this fight!

Where is everyone watching it? Im at home, beer at the moment then onto the vino with a curry on standby.

Who have you got to win? Always thought Frampton would win this but have seen a calmness in Quigg this week that exudes extreme confidence. Frampton on the other hand has seemed tetchy at the press conference and weigh-in and seems to have used up too much energy in trying to get under Team Quiggs skin.

118/116 to Frampton. Jim Watt on gear saying nothing to split them in first six. They were the easier rounds to score. But Matchroom card on Sky. Expect a robbery.

I genuinely don't care who gets the decision. Neither of them deserve to be a winner.

116-112 Frampton

Well the last 5 rounds was a good watch

In the build up Frampton mentioned Quigg intelligence, and imo he was proven right as quigg threw away the first 7 rounds only himself to blame here

Reminds me of Danny Garcia vs Peterson fight

Not sure what the benefit of buying off one judge is.

Crap fight overall with Frampton winning by default over the first six more than any great skill.

Doubt we'll see a rematch now it's quite clear that Frampton can't hurt the guy. Shame it took Quigg most of the fight for him to realise it too.

The Quigg corner timed it badly.

I thought 4 of the first 6 could have been called a draw.

But Frampton deserved to win it. The 4 close rounds could easily have been given to Frampton for work rate.

Gallagher reckons the first 4 rounds were a draw because his man was blocking a lot of Frampton's shots - well he may have blocked a lot of shots but he also never threw any of his own.

What a bell end

Post by catchweight Sun 28 Feb 2016, 12:05 am

This is where Quiggs reputation for being a dumb fighter kicks in. Supposed to be the Superman of fitness and condition but again, does literally nothing for 6 rounds to press this advantage.

A SD was a bit of a joke but I guess its damage limitation for Quiggs reputation and will give them the opportunity to claim they won with a potential rematch in future.

Could have been a cracking fight if both fighters began like they ended but Quigg froze for 6 or 7 rounds and only engaged when the fight had slipped away. Frampton had no incentive to change things up until Quigg began to engage and its only then we got a fight. A bit miffed because you could see in the last round we could have had a cracking fight but ended up with only 3 decent rounds.

Depends what weight the rematch would be at. I think Frampton would be more dynamic at featherweight.

I'm sorry but you can't give more than 1 of the first 6 rounds to Quigg! Especially the first 3, if you gave Quigg them then you must have given Wlad the rounds against Fury! Regardless of whether the action was low...Frampton was making him look silly early doors, Quigg didn't even get into range never mind land anything

Not big on blaming trainers for their fighters defeats but when you talk as big a game as Gallagher and sh1t on other trainers and fighters I guess its fair to say this is another pretty shocking "gameplan"

It wasn't an entertaining enough fight to warrant a rematch, have no doubt that Quigg could win a return but the potential for it being dull again is there so where's the real appeal of it.

If action is low then I always go to ring craftsmanship and ability to control the fight next..and Frampton was streets ahead of him in both areas over the first 6 rounds. Quiggs fitness reputation doesn't exist...can't lay claim to having an engine when you don't work for half the fight.

I thought the last round was telling, Quigg had nothing left and was just winging it while Carl went back and just boxed and moved. The key rounds in 9,10,11 whilst won by Quigg on the cards in his mind I think he knew that was that. He took Frampton into his fight but never overawed him and Frampton looked happy to stand and trade for a while, could see it took the wind out of the sail of Scott in the last round
