Considering that, in my own line of work and having worked with Ipsos Mori for several years before cancelling their contract, they are prone to over-stating figures...I'd be very worried were I a Labour MP.Duty281 wrote:"Labour is ready to form the next Government":

He is totally unelectable and it's tragic...Unfortunately the center and right wing of Labour is stiffening the resolve of the left ,who have the majority of members, to keep him...
They should have given him a go...shut up and then said "We've given him a chance etc"...
Unfortunately they have probably made him stronger..
He'll go now...when he's ready..

You'd be welcome at my table, SecretFly, I enjoy your posts. We've only got two chairs though so you'd have to bring your own, unless you want to sit on the footstool (it's comfortable but not quite high enough).

USA
------
ABC poll......... Shows Trump two points ahead of Clinton in WH2016.........Clinton having trouble with White suburban women voters apparently....That 20% Trust rating is a problem.....
Trump 46 Clinton 44...First poll to have Trump ahead...
WSJ poll...........Clinton's 11 point lead has shrunk to 3 points.............46-43...Within MoE..
Sanders beating Trump 54-39.....
ABC poll.......60% of Americans dislike Trump.....
..................53% of Americans dislike Clinton.....
..................38% of Americans dislike Sanders...
Trump leading Clinton by 13% with Independent voters........Up 4 points since March !!!.....
Trump is no doubt getting a boost from becoming presumptive nominee and some Republicans moving in line.....Clinton is struggling with an old leftie and not looking good......Which is hurting..
Good win in California and ending the race should see a move in the polls back into line..
However like Bush v Gore.......One can't rule out the more colorful, charismatic candidate resonating aginst the boring stiff... if he can stay on message (When he thinks of one!!)
One mustn't forget Gore was a huge favorite and ten points ahead at one time over Jr....

I love the old excuses that Privatisation is modernity and sensibility at work. "Private Investment for serious growth." "Sell to diversify". "Float for Choice". "Shop around for best deal".
What sterile nonsense in an age where the maxim "For every dollar I put in I want three coming back to me" is as remote from the concept of Modern Society as a bunch of Neanderthals having a snooze in a tree after a heavy meal.
It's ancient logic and it's why people crawl around in some Nations waiting for hospital beds to become available to them, as Private social media internet chat'n'pic companies plan ambitious Space Programs to let Bob Geldof look at the stars.
Go outside Bob and look up - it's cheaper - and a few more starving people around the world might dine out on the savings.

Re: Political round up.............
It's times like this where the practice destroys the theory. I can understand the free market thinking and it makes a lot of sense when you think about it. But when you put it into practice it inevitably fails to live up to the hype for one simile reas on. Shareholders. I've always favoured a John Lewis type workplace environment for state owned facilities/services. Both to motivate the public sector and eliminate waste. It's probably the only way self regulation works when everyone has got a financial stake in the smooth running of the business.

I'm generally a fan of privatisation for a number of reasons.......
Improves efficiency......Much more emphasis on profit....More motivation to succeed ....
Not as much political interference.....So more beneficial long terms plans can be adopted.
Shareholders can hold underperforming management to account...
Of course there are disadvantages but I'm generally more for than against.......

Read the article. Studies show that privatised public services companies are no more efficient than when they were publically owned. It's just a myth peddled to take your money. Look at the state of the trains in Britain.

I always hear this being said about virtually any publication mentioned and I always mean to ask where the torch bearer of truth, honesty, integrity and honour is in the publication world?

Love this old chestnut. Always said/written by somebody with no recollection of how truly awful British Rail was.
And the major issues with major train delays are almost always caused by Network Rai - the public sector company which runs the net work - not the private sector train operators.

Re: Political round up.............
In Scotland and large parts of Britain, the problem with the trains is lack of competition (in Scotland the choices are Scotrail and err... Scotrail and the service is a bag of sh1te). Don't see how that gets better under nationalisation. Prices and services could improve with more competition.
Toppy is also correct - Network Rail is the cause of most of the problems on the railways.

And yes, forgot to mention the key point super has noted, privatisation of the rail opco industry was always going to be difficult as it's hard to inject competition - which is the key driver behind privatisation efficiencies.
That said, think there are at least two companies running on a few different routes now (think you've a choice for London to Edinburgh and at least one other I've forgotten).

Oh, the irony.
And, rather than referring to the Institute, I was referring to the fascist author.
You think that this fire sale of public assets to fund cuts to essential services is good, then? You think the fact that the poor are poorer while the number of UK billionaires has quadrupled since the crash is good? Why would you think that?
