Yeah - I meant deficit.
But you forgot to mention the national debt increased by the same amount under Labour between 2005 and 2010.

So it looks like nobody has a really good solution to the problem.

Um...going from 1 trillion to 1.5 trillion isn't doubling...
Nice clock though.
Interesting to know that if every taxpayer forked out an extra £48 we could eradicate the national debt in one fell swoop! Wonder why nobody has proposed that before...

I'm not defending Labour but that included the bank bailout - after we've sold it back it will result in a net loss of about only about 5 billion which is a small price to pay to prevent a collapse of the system and the ensuing chaos.

Re: Political round up.............
"When well funded, well organised groups like IS tell you that they plan to bring their war to you, you would be well advised to listen."
"In February, Italian intelligence networks told us that they had intercepted ISIS communications threatening to send 500,000 ISIS fighters to Europe. That may well be hyperbole, but whether it is 500,000 or 5,000 these people present a clear threat to lives and liberty in Europe. It is a threat to bring the same callous disregard to our shores as they have wrecked on the people of Syria and Iraq, Christian, Muslim and Yazidis. A report this week from Global Initiative has made it clear that ISIS are earning hundreds of millions of pounds in running these migration routes and the EU's approach is both facilitating the import of terror to our shores, but also filling the coffers of this horrific entity. Britain must do everything in its power to change minds in Brussels. They are sleepwalking toward catastrophe, by trying to appear compassionate."
"Whilst Britain must maintain its record as a refuge for genuine refugees we must remain entirely vigilant against the serious and very real security threat."
That was shortly before the General Election last year.

I don't think he came out with an actual number did he? I'm sure if he felt there was room for more he wouldn't have an arbitary 20000 cut off for people in real fear of their lives adn would actively encourage more to be taken. But you're also really saying there's no way for them to separate real from the rest and it's just a soundbite aren't you? How would you properly assess someone 100% off shore or not?

I think it was his call for a larger, better funded border force with greater powers and greater capability to intercept any potential terrorist threats. Many refugees have been found with forged passports and other documents.
It also highlights the need for controlled immigration and not being forced to let in anyone who wishes to come.

The issue is where that funding comes from. At the minute it comes from the fees charged for such things as work visas and study visas. These are already exorbitant. If the current rates are not sufficient to fund an effective enough to manage the system what is the answer? Charge more? All you achieve then is you cease to make working and studying in the UK uncompetitive and unattractive. Somewhat self defeating.

He was certainly an idiot for leaving his application so late, though he did show a receipt which shows he got the application in with 23 minutes to spare. He's being gotten rid of just like Nathan Gill.

I must admit I was a little surprised at Duty's comments, as I thought being a 'slimy little pillock' was one of the requirements for being in UKIP in the first place.

Indeed it was.
Though I think he was an idiot for leaving it so late, he clearly submitted the application at 11:37, 23 minutes before the deadline.
It's kind of irrelevant, though, because the NEC were absolutely determined that he shouldn't stand for leader. If it wasn't the deadline thing, they would have found another reason.
Hopefully the next leader - Diane James - will work to abolish the NEC (and hopefully kick out Hamilton/Evans/Carswell to boot).

Excellent news. Corbyn's victory assured beyond any lingering doubt; in turn, the end of the Labour Party as a serious electoral force is guaranteed.

And the point of polling now is...?
ICM have UKIP at 14%, by the way - that's the same ICM which correctly predicted the outcome of the EU referendum, whilst Ipsos Mori had Remain winning.
UKIP insignificant? Heard it so many times before, to the point of complete tedium.

Corbyn can't find a full train to film his nationalise the railway spiel on, such is his level of incompetence.
Smith has used the word lunatic in a speech and the pc brigade have gone crazy, suggesting he has offended the mentally ill.
He also says he won't invoke article 50 unless there is a second referendum, good luck with that.

Been disappointed with Smith...I thought he was a center ground man and suspect he is...But he's gone so far left he's nearly come out right again !!.
I thought the whole point of this is that Corbyn's agenda is too far left to be electable...Not to replace him with a different lightweight with the same agenda...
Unless he's bull crapping which tells voters you can't trust him as far as you can throw him !!..
I won't vote Liberal as they sell out too easily...I won't vote Conservative after growing up with Reagan-omics..I won't vote for racists....and the Greens are a joke..
Looks like I won't be casting a vote anytime soon..
