Usually sides like Newcastle target players like Gayle or Ritchie that have excelled at a lower level. Clark is just cack

Can only hope Pulis decides to hijack this deal or this clown fails the medical. I'd rather re-sign Mike 'donkey' Williamson.

That's a bargain considering the current state of the transfer market.

nadeem2099, any news on Madrid's end to this Sissoko deal. I heard you don't want to pay £35m (I don't blame you), but Madrid are willing to offer us Marcos Llorente & Mariano Diaz + a reduced cash offer (likely £25m) for Sissoko.
I'd take that to be honest, they seem bright talents, Llorente looks a creative midfielder (similar to Shelvey) & Diaz a good goalscorer, 30 goals in 40 apps for Real Madrid B & I saw him score against Chelsea last week in that friendly.

Didnt even know Clark was linked with Newcastle.
RDM said he was staying.
Down the pecking order.
Used to be ok, gone downhill, but he isnt the only one at Villa.
Didnt have a great euros.
One thing i will say about Clark, is that he gives 100%.
I respect the hell out of players like him, even if they are not great.
He is also a top bloke who has time for the fans.
You see these nancy boys come over who dont give a fk.
They can turn their a55 round and get back on the plane if you dont give it 100%.
Would rather see Lescott go, cos that cnt just don't care.
Good luck to Clark.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Yeah Llorente is rated highly by the club. Llorente could be the long term replacement for Modric if Kovacic doesn't improve next season. Benitez does know them from his time at Real last season but Real would not let 2 of their best youngsters leave without inserting a buy back clause, something I'm sure Newcastle are not fond of. I haven't seen a lot of Mariano but his record for Castilla is very good. Zidane wants to loan him out for one season to get some experience. Regarding Sissoko his valuation by Newcastle is very steep but I struggle to see where he would fit in at Real. In the centre we have Modric, Kroos, Casemiro and Kovacic. If we continue with the 433 formation than it will be Casemiro as the DM and Kroos and Modric as the playmaker CM's. Maybe Sissoko could play DM as a physical replacement if Casemiro is unable to play but I don't think he's played there consistently enough or has the footballing brain to play there. In the world cup he did play on the right wing where he impressed but there will be no chance of him getting ahead of Bale in the pecking order.John wrote:nadeem2099, any news on Madrid's end to this Sissoko deal. Disappointed we didn't sign this lad, but Brighton are now in advanced talks with Alex Pritchard. If they keep Knockaert too, they will be our biggest competition this season

Be surprised if Brighton didn't come back to the pack to be honest. Difficult to overachieve, harder to do it in successive years

Reports saying we could well sign McCormack in the next day or so.
Read £12m.
Proven goal scorer at this level, only draw back is he's nearly 30.
Would like someone younger.
Hopefully do the job if we do sign him.
Out bidded Norwich who seem to be going for Assombalonga.

Not sure how I feel about this - my feelings on McCormack were split myself - similar to yours Westi - but he does almost guarantee 20 goals a season. I think I'll be disappointed if we miss out on him
Would LOVE Assombalonga - but I doubt that'll happen

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
McCormack is proven.
I just hope we can keep Ayew. Think he would score a few aswell.
Then there is Gestede who is proven at this level.
Sadly I feel Ayew will go by the end of the month though.

Jese on his way from Madrid to PSG. Be interesting to see if he can show them what they missed like Morata went and did.
Means PSG are out of any race for Lacazette and Bacca. Bacca' options away from Milan are slowly running out; Napoli, PSG and Atletico all filled their gaps now.

It will be a travesty if Real sell Jese to that arab money club without inserting a buy back clause.

I would imagine Real have a buy back clause, Ozil has one, as did Morata.

I am 90% certain he has one. Sadly Real and Barca can just do that to everyone nowadays. Not a fan of it at all.

I would personally class a buy back clause as third party involvement and should be outlawed, you either sell someone or you loan them and nothing inbetween.

Don't really see the harm personally. Buying club gets 2 years and a profit if goes to plan.

Looks like McCormack is Villa's.
Gestede and him are a pretty scary duo in the champ.

And if Ayew does stay, then pretty good forward power.
Defence looking ok, need to sign another midfielder or 2.

He's good at going forward, with good dribbling skills, but unfortunately he doesn't score goals. Think he scored one for us against Wigan & nobody could believe it. Defensively he's a liability & has no positional sense.

Alex Pritchard heading to Norwich for a medical, Brighton got pipped at the 11th hour.
Somewhere Olly is windmilling away.
Leicester sign winger Bartosz Kapustka - End of Mahrez?

Kapustka when given the chance for Poland at the Euros looked a real prospect and is considered TNBT in his homeland, good buy there by Leicester.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
We did. Benitez would of purchased him earlier in the summer, integrating him into the defensive set-up, if he was an important component. He's just adding depth.
Inter Milan have signed Italy midfielder Antonio Candreva from Lazio on a four-year contract. Fantastic signing

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Yeah Inter have also signed Ansaldi and Banega, two good players. It won't be enough to challenge Juve for the title but they should be aiming for top 4 next season. I've missed them in the champions league.

That'll be a long shot tbh. Even if they sell Icardi they'll have to spend even more to get Auba. And I'd doubt he'd leave Dortmund for Serie A.

McCormack done deal.
Keep Ayew and get another decent championship midfielder and we're looking ok.
Delighted with RM, just a shame he isnt a few years younger.

Bit dim on WBA's behalf really expecting him to be fit if didn't train or play Guess they doing an arsenal giving out false hope of buying an expensive signing.
In my favorite bullsh*t rumor of the summer is this classic from supposed Italian Journalist
@EmaGiulianelli Milan, Lombardy
Griezmann instead was open to Arsenal
transfer but looks unlikely now due to the money involved with the transfer fee. #AFC
Yeah like Arsenal's going to pay out 100m euros
