Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
I think the other point...is we need defenders....badly!
Surely we have enough to cover the attacking options.

Surely time Woodwards role gets split and someone comes in to handle the football side. Its a tad farcical now for a club of Uniteds size

Apparently LVG pulled the plug last night. Perhaps he's realised they need a main striker because Rooney is way out of form.

Its rather convenient United pulled the plug as he travelled to London for a medical with Chelsea

Yeah the more likely scenario definatley seems to be Chelsea swooped in and hijacked the deal, and United now trying to spin it in a way that doesn't make them look as if they got out muscled.

Think United should sign Zlatan. Just the moody type of player who thrives at the club - Cantona, Hughes, Keane Ince etc.

Moussa linked with AC Milan
I don't believe the Sadio Mane link with United, media just as desperate as United.
Paddy Power - #MUFC now after Southampton's Sadio Mane. From Pedro to Mane. Like getting rejected by Mila Kunis then offering to buy Susan Boyle a drink.

If LVG was sold on Pedro we would have bought him by now, feels like we've been looking at other options the whole time. We don't need Pedro or Mane ultimately, I don't think it's a big loss myself.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
not too fussed on the pedro deal, at 28 he's prob past his prime as a winger as from now to the next few years he'll be slowing down. very rarely wingers do much into there 30's. very short term signing. also find it a strange move for chelsea as 1. its not a position they need and 2. it doesn't seem like a mourinho signing at all
mane link is a very strange one and to be honest i haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement one way or the other. he's young and quick though. and pace is certainly something we need at the moment

Have to disagree, think it's exactly what Chelsea need. Chelsea have become predictable, at the start of last season they were immense, back half of the season, it was obvious how they played & they returned back to the old mourinho ways. Attacking through hazard became predictable & Chelsea's offence looked unbalanced towards the left. Willian, however good he is, he is basically a better team player & workhorse, than a credible & consistent goalscoring threat, who has limited assists. Pedro changes that, he's a finisher & will bring the pace & threat that hazard bring on the other side, so will balance Chelsea out & mean they are not solely reliant upon Hazard.
As for Mane, seems like LVG wishes to kick Koeman while he's down with that one.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
i agree with you about willian john, does not create anything. might as well have a valencia out there just putting a shift in, but plenty and most importantly mourinho rates him and i cant see pedro getting in the team over him. going to be a squad player at best, least he's used to sitting on the bench at barca

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Mourinho got rid of De Bruyne because he wanted Willian in the team so I don't see Pedro changing that, their defence lacks too much pace not to have added protection in front of them unless Zouma becomes a more frequent starter.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
I'm completely confused with what's happened today. I'm actually a bit disappointed with not signing Pedro. He would have given us pace, creativity and goals from the wing. The Mane link has come from nowhere, and at first I was incredibly underwhelmed. But, he's only 23, so younger than Pedro who as @compelling alluded to is heading towards his 30's. Brings a good work ethic from what i've seen, can play along the front 3 and also scored 10 goals last year so can offer a goal threat. That being said, its still not the marquee signing we're crying out for. Still amazed we haven't gone for Lacazette who's exactly who we need and could be bought.

Highly rated Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger has joined Roma on a season-long loan for 4m euros. They can make the deal permanent next summer for another 9m euros.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Rudiger is future top drawer from what I've seen of him, Roma are very good at nabbing quality centrebacks at dirt cheap prices and making huge profits on them 1-2 years later.

I most certainly wanted him.
If not getting him though is due to instead getting someone like Laporte then I'll be happy.

I think you're probably going to be disappointed, Hero.
To be fair, City was a probably a better fit for Valencia. By all accounts they still owed them £24m for the Negredo transfer.

Unhappy we haven't got otamendi. Laporte would be my no.1 target for a cb, especially being a left footed one at that but can't see it happening in the slightest which is a massive shame. Suppose we have Blind who's done ok and Rojo who I think is decent, quite physical as well. I'm more concerned at the other end of the pitch. My Ideal (fantasy) end to the window would be:
Muller/Laporte/Leno
Realistically:
Mane (still unlikely unless we pay massively over the odds)
Cilissen
No CB

If he's 10x better than Cabella, then yes. Disappointed that it will mean less time for Aarons or even Perez. Not that overjoyed with the signing, unless we sign Abdennour too, as that is the priority to strengthen that area, not another luxury attacking signing.

I echo Hero on this, I would have welcomed signing Otamendi but he would have come in at the expense of Smalling something I wouldn't want to see happen so Laporte would be a more sensible and long term option. I'm generally not a fan of excessive spending, much prefer to see our current guys given a chance but you have to move with the times unfortunately.

That doesn't surprise me, he's clearly the best available centre back but unfortunately isn't left footed.

We've had a bid of £1.5m rejected for Jon Walters.
Norwich fans see moaning cos he played for Ipswich like 7 years ago. Get a grip ffs he'd be a really good signing for us

Stones to Chelsea looking increasingly done, will be a great signing. And the big rumour today being pogba to Chelsea as well, those two signings could really propel us forward
Courtois
Ivanovic Terry Stones Azpilicuerta
Matic
Fabregas Pogba
Pedro Costa Hazard
That right there is a team worthy of the eurodiv!

I remember Chester City fan reacting the same way when he left Wrexham to go to them Olly, football fans are a strange bread and would rather moan about a player signing form a rival than actually admit it'd improve their team.
Surprisingly Walters was dreadful at the lower levels, looked out of his depth most of the time but has made a name for himself at Stoke.

It could well happen given the market this year, especially if cuadrado goes to juve as part of the deal

It's getting on my nerves a bit now. Twitter has ruined it for me because there's a player linked every day that gets your hopes up. I just read them and ignore it if anything and just wait until I see it on sky sports and with the official Utd account telling us. Striker and a winger needed, I'll wait and see on sept 1.

Not sure why Twitter bothers anyone, just do as I do and ignore it; a winger is definitely not needed.
