Haha I dont worry, if hes any good he'll be gone in a season and if hes not he'll throw a strop when you're 16th and Steve has lost the plot.

Steer went to school just up the road from me.

Bunn left because he wanted first xi football - so not entirely sure why he's gone to be on villa's bench! Smile

I'm not convinced Sherwood's particularly enamored with Brad Guzan. He dropped him pretty quickly after making a mistake at the Etihad, so Bunn may have being given some assurances.

Well on that hand I'd sincerely hope that Aston villa don't play him as there number 1. Because he's nowhere near good enough

Begs the question, why was his release fee so low? And why aren't Liverpool and Spurs in there?

He had Villa over a barrel with his contract expiring. They either could get nothing for him, or put in a low release clause.

Do Liverpool really need him? They got two industrious midfielders in Henderson and Milner. Think Spurs have got other priorities as well.

He had all the power when he last signed the deal & although he committed, he would of made sure a release clause was included. Villa would of lost him for nothing. Liverpool & Spurs are firstly not Man City level & probably the clause was for champions league sides only. delph looked all loyal, but really he knew what he was doing & so did his agent.

Glen Johnson's having a medical at Stoke. Could be Hughes' third signing today, with Given signing a two-year deal and Marco Van Ginkel joining on loan from Chelsea.

I'd steer well clear if I was your lot to be honest Dolph, seems a talented player but one who wants it all straight away whilst being a disruptive influence and for the majority performing terribly.

On a slight side note you must be cockahoop with your business so far?

Not sure why Stoke are taking Glen Johnson & no doubt his high wages. He's so injury prone & Phil Bardsley is hardly in need of replacing.

I expect Ron Vlaar will end up at Southampton

They could do with a right back who moves forward.

HH: definitely, although there's still more to be done if we're gonna go above our current level. And survive our fixture list. Jenkinson will be done by Tuesday. Then we need two midfielders and a striker at the least.

Glen Johnson's a far better player than Phil Bardsley. He's a perfectly acceptable player for a team challenging for 8 - 12th in the league.

The fee for Schweinsteiger is believed to be around £20m euros and the midfielder will sign a three-year deal worth 10m euros per annum

Schneiderlin - 25 years old @ £25m OR Schweinsteiger - 31 years old, injury prone @ £14m.

United are going to have to spend some huge, huge money in about two years to replace the gaping whole Bastian & Michael Carrick leave behind.

Schweinsteiger is hardly 'injury prone'. He was injured in pre season in 2014-15(after World Cup) prior to that he played 35+ matches per season for 11 straight years(fewer matches in Germany).

Okay, not injury prone, but ageing nonetheless & he does pick up more niggles nowadays. I don't really get going down the Schweinsteiger route, it's too short-sighted & expensive. If they just wanted a ball player & creative spark to partner or replace Carrick, then an option like Cabaye would of done an equally good job & he would of been much cheaper than £10m a year in wages. Is Schweinsteiger really a force anymore.....no.

I don't think he's anywhere near as good as he was. And I do think he's often been a little overrated. Interesting the impact on Unitefld's midfield, but I don't know if LVG is the type to play a best 11 or more rotation.

Bastian had to go. Doesn't fit the Guardiola way. Can only assume the Bavaria board agreed to do away with Schweinsteiger because Pep has given some indication that he'll be there past May 2016.

I agree that Bastian is past his best, but I think, akin to Ballack in Chelsea, he'll still be worth a good four or so years. With the caveat that that Ballack was streets ahead of Schweini Very Happy

that's because he is, nothing funny about it. everyone seems to agree with me too, he is past his best, it's only normal for a player to decline into his 30's. Pep is ruthless & knows bastian doesnt have the legs anymore & doesnt fit into his system. whereby once bastian would be first on the team sheet domestically & internationally, that isnt the case anymore. people hold onto past memories for too long, whereby managers like pep are living in the present & moving him on.

As well as Depay don't forget.

It's easy to dismiss Schweinsteiger as a signing but £14mil to us is nothing in the current market so worth the risk for potentially two good seasons.

United hoping to get schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin tied up before they go on tour

Id be pretty happy with a midfield three of them two and hererra. Takes the pressure of Carrick who can come in as and when needed

Need a centre back and a striker and i think we'll have done well

I saw Mitrovic live at the Emirates last season John. Quite raw, but bit like an old school English centre forward. Took his goal brilliantly. He's the type of forward they'll love on Tyneside.
