Pretty special win from England there. When you concede four tries in the SH- and still win? That's a very special win, and a very special game.

What Australia have is Home (not to be sniffed at) and - in my opinion - the better coach in Cheika. Never under-estimate a Cheika team.
1 up for England, my prediction is not looking too bad so far. Massive credit to Jones and his boys there, the Aussies threw everything at them but they held on and won well.

39 points is an England record against Australia according to the Aussie broadcasters. Not bad for starting down early on.

They also have Hooper. Standout player.

We can't say much apart from, the scoreline says it was a thumping win in Aus against the Wallabies. I don't think England played all that well if I'm honest* but they did enough against an erratic Aus.

Just realised Care took a tap and go penalty! A 3 pointer, or kick to touch, would have made the game safe. Eddie will give him a bollocking, and then a beer for that.

I'm not counting chickens yet ...but that was an emphatic start ! Especially after going ten-nil down before they got their hands on the ball...
They certainly got right in the Aussie's faces - and the home side didn't handle it all that well . Coaches will have a big role between matches now , I think.

I need a lie down! What a game! For all the talk of the Aussie fetches I believe England made more turnovers. Am I right? Aussies were lucky not to have another man carded for repeated breakdown infringements.

Ball in hand he's the best ten England have and despite being targeted defensively, he tackled well. The pass and kick for the Yarde and Nowell tries were superb.

Re: Australia v England, 11 June
I think the kick was a dumb idea. If it doesn't come off, England will have given up possession with a lead less than one score. Looks great, of course, but England were down deep in Aussie territory with a lead to protect. Taking a risk at that point made no sense to me.rozakthegoon wrote:In the replays it looks like ford didn't even look for that pass to yarde. Class. And that kick!

Well, shucks. If we can beat the second best team in the world in their backyard by a record score while not playing well, I shall look forward to what England will be able to do when Eddie's had a bit more time with them.

Yeah pretty much. I thought Aus just went completely off the boil. England didn't lose their heads when it would have been easy to do so.

Re: Australia v England, 11 June
It's about time Haskell got the recognition he deserved. He's been our best 6 for years, infinitely better than the likes of Wood. But that BS about him being a show-pony/bit of a tool set him back, because in England we don't seem to trust anyone who's not all dourness and furrowed eyebrows.
Whenever he's had a run he's always, to my mind, been in the best half of our pack at least, and often in the top 3 performers. But it seems like people have higher expectations of him than anyone else.
All this said...he's a 6. Great to see him playing so well though.

Realistically this was our best chance of winning. They're cold, we're established. As the series goes on, they warm up, we tire. So that's the right start. Next week will be a lot harder.
