The 32-year-old, who captained Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations success last year, was second behind Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
"I think that's what makes the shame of Africa," he told Radio France International.

Yaya the person is a wally but must be regarded as one of the best big game players in the PL era. Been a giant for City and sad the way it's ending.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Yaya's been phoning it in for a while now. He has a 10 min spell when he totally dominates a game and turns it on it's head but outside of that he plays like it's too much effort.

You'd be naive to think this has been a four goal haul cos you dropped Rooney. Or really that he'd been a major reason for the past three years.
Happy to see Mata and Herrera playing and playing well.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
A team wearing the Manchester United jersey which after a long time is playing like the old Manchester United. A sort of 4/3/3 which has always been Mourinho's favoured modus operandi. As much as everyone loves a trier, Felliani isn't and never will the type of player suited to Manchester United. Pogba flanked by Herrera and Mata is similar to what Pirlo and Marchiso offered Pogba in Turin. Herrera also offers extra legs in midfield which UFC superstar Felliani can't offer. Without Rooney stinking out the joint in the final third, there's more space for Zlatan, Rashford and Lingard to exploit. Factoring in that without Rooney, the two wide men carry genuine pace and menace. Factoring in the injured duo Martial and Mkhitaryan, this Manchester United looks a force.

You haven't been good at all & I still think Conte is a million miles away from having the squad that he wants. Need a massive clearout at Chelsea, not quite sure why it didn't happen this summer.

Yeah haven't been that impressed with Chelsea.
It's basically mourinhos team not having a strop with less attacking threat.
Can't judge conte until he gets his own side together.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Great performance yesterday, was slightly concerned that we were heading to another Burnley, but it was a very professional performance. Hull are down, Liverpool could have scored 7,8 9 goals in that game, even before the red card they looked really poor.
I wonder what is going to happen with Moyes, Sunderland have been very trigger happy but I imagine they seriously didn't expect Moyes to be this poor. Will he end up having to drop down into the Championship to rebuild his career? It's really depressing really, spent a long time resisting the urge to leave Everton until the perfect role came along and it seemed he found it, sacked quickly by United who haven't exactly been much better since he left. Then showed an eagerness to coach in a foreign country and was atrocious. Returns to a side below Everton's level and he's struggling massively. His career has gone completely backwards.

All he needs to do is keep them up, so it's an interesting one. Allardyce got a lot of credit, but this season would have been much the same for Allardyce; he'd have wanted survival and survival only. They need to finish above three teams, and Moyes at least has come in and understood that.

Probably end up as a pundit on MOTD or BT Sport.
Any credibility he had as a manager is being rapidly destroyed. I also don't see publicly blaming your players having a good result.
That said, you have to question their commitment and attitude, managing to lose from being 2-0 up.

Gutted successful backroom team, alienated senior pros leaving a lack of experience, poor transfers in a window where a lot of big moves happened.
Honestly one of the worst managerial reigns in the history of the game.

I think thats a touch excessive. Two of those I don't even think are his fault, whilst the first one a lot of people agreed with as they felt it was smarter for a man to have his own team rather than trying to come in and just be Alex Ferguson.

Which senior pros did he alienate? Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra all left after Moyes had gone. Not sure he can be blamed for transfers either, they were clearly the remit of Ed Woodward who completely failed.
Sure, he got rid of the backroom team, but had he not, people would have questioned that. He had to have somewhat of a break from Ferguson and he was comfortable working with people he trusted, I thought he created a decent balance, of the old and the new.
I think the club let Moyes down just as much as he failed them.

Woodwards done alright on the old transfer front since then.
Fellaini our only signing when the likeable fabregas, kroos, Thiago were on the move.
Vidic and evra signed pre contract agreements whilst he was there.
The whole clubs foundation of backroom staff, experienced winners jettisoned for nobodies, this was a concern in appointing a new manager, especially with regards to mourinho.
Moyes was a disaster, didn't do one thing right.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Simplifying things a touch to say he walked in and said "watch this guy" - you'd have to imagine it was due to how he wanted his role to be. And Vidic was Frak by then anyway.
Thiago and Kross went to bigger and better clubs.
Spend everything and anything you want has been Woodward's MO - and getting better doesn't mean he didn't f*** up at the time.
Again, a lot of people agreed with changing things. If he hadn't and his time had been a failure you'd be pointing at him for not making any changes and being too overawed.
I also question the attitude of some of those older pros as they did not come out of it well. Too settled, too egotistical.
He was by no stretch of the imagination good, but even nearly worst ever reign? Bit of a "world revolves around me" point of view
