Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
Thanks both. I really wasn't confident and had to spend more time on planning my tactics than I have at any point in the past.
Hero - you were tough competition as usual and have built a stunning squad. Even more so considering you started with a Hull squad that at the start of the season IRL was in complete disarray.

Congratulations Afro - it was an extremely difficult game to call with both sides clearly the strongest in the division.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
So I've had a few comments. For me the only way the league can survive is with a reboot.
I know there's opposition, and I appreciate the rules changes have been largely positive. But this is a 'stockbrokers' league of who can find the biggest TM rises.
I've compared my team with Hero's, but I'm sure everyone else could join in:
Lafont
Bellerin Rugani Tah Gaya
Nainggolan Verratti Kessie
Bernardo Mbappe Hazard
5.53
21.25 14.45 18.7 15.3
34 34 12.75
21.25 8.5 59.5
=£245m
------
Pickford
Meunier Keane Cahill Grimaldo
Keita Castro Gueye
Alli Mertens
Vardy
4.25
6.38 10.2 13.6 5.95
18.7 12.75 10.2
34 21.25
12.75
=£150m
----
For me, even with the changes it seems illogical to do one season on one set of rules, and another with vastly different rules. I see no way of catching up £100m in transfermarkt value.
Fair play to Hero for exploiting the rules best, but I do not find this game fun.
Sorry.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
It's not exploiting the rules, that's smearing it as underhand what I did. All I did was what I always do and that's build a team initially of talented youngsters and then waited until those players saw a TM price increase.
I'd even wish to keep the youngsters but recognise that as the league grows then they aren't as well thought of as power creeps set in so through necessity I also upgrade.
We've all played these games for numerous years and it's hardly brain surgery to work out early on that if you buy young players who are undervalued on TM then some point soon they will rise and if you buy older players then they'll go down in value. It's the same as what football clubs do in real life, that's why Mbappe after one good season is getting rumours of value near 100m.

Apologies - exploiting may be the wrong word to use in this scenario
My point still stands - that there is no rule change that will fix it for next season.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
I'm happy to swap teams as well.
The other option is that everyone values their squad (plus cash), and the difference is made up in cash. I.e. The highest value gets 0, and everyone gets the amount of cash that takes them up to the same value.

Does make it all a bit like the Lazy Squirrel story though.
We all started equal (though in actually fact both myself and Afro started off with worse squads), we all knew the rules at the start of the season. So come the end of the season when those that haven't gathered their nuts so to speak as the season went along then cry about it we have to give them a share of our harvest because we planned well.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
I take both points, but in a situation where it is share or the league disbands, then I'd rather share.
Personally, I'd rather swap teams than artificially equalise it, but happy to explore radical alternatives.
Another left field suggestion, you could make it that teams are paired and get to pick any 3 players to take from the other team on a "Bosman".
Or don't even pair them. You just get to pick 3 players from any other team!!!

I hope this isn't wasted, just spent over an hour calculating these.
Boro - £205,713,000 - Without budget
Sunderland - £204,681,750 - With Budget
Bournemouth - £176,080,000 - With Budget, without Alejandro Gomez
Burnley FC - £190,111,000 - With Budget
Watford FC - £168,398,000 - With Budget
West Bromich Albion - £179,420,000 - With Budget
Hull City - £203,668,000 - With Budget - Cant find Tymons on TM either.

Is that overall squad value?
Trebs has a higher value squad than Hero? In truth it is much more even than I thought.
The way to equalise it is to make it more about squad than starting XI....
Injuries, more impact of substitutes

Thats overall squad value, Hero had more til i realised he traded out Jesus but then again i just thought about something, i didn't calculate Hazard in that cos pages aren't up to date i guess.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
How about everyone has to trim their squad value to a set amount? Say 100m? Then everyone starts on a level playing field next season and gets to keep their favourites?
Also means that players go into foreigns because at this rate we'll run out of players by the end of the season.

I woke figuring something wasn't quite right, as Heros squad value couldn't be less than his starting XI.
Trebs - I had think your idea is harsher on Hero, as he evidently has all his value in his XI without much in the squad. Whilst I'm open to levelling the playing field, it has to be

Agree on both counts. From a personal perspective, it will be slightly easier for me as I appear to be 4th out of 7 in the squad values.
But for Hero to get to £100m is going to take selling half his starting XI when his backups are already paper thin.
How about rather than all teams have to get to £xm, they have to reduce the squad values by x%. Perhaps 30%.
then we level the playing field by increasing budgets.
And then we amend the rules to make it less about finding TM increases (much fewer Lawyers (either none, with releases instead, or 1 every week at -5% with no nominated)

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
Think the lack of posts is making the chance of a season 2/reboot looking less likely. Tbh I think I may well just concentrate on other leagues I'm in now as I'm at the point where I really don't want to go through another reboot/change due to placating those that failed to grasp how Transfermarkt works despite playing in leagues in which we've used Transfermarkt for over 6 years.

Re: The Lotion League Locker Room
I'm not up for a reboot at all either. Don't really want to break up my squad, but I'm open to compromise to keep the league going.
Think the lack of posts is due to the Easter holidays tbf. Willing to give that a bit more time.
