Afternoon all,

Really looking forward to Crolla v Burns tonight. I'm a fan of both men and can see this being a great contest. Both gentlemen of the sport but both always go for it. I'm hoping for a Burns win but hope both have somewhere to go after this.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

I'm looking forward to it as well, was waiting for Gav Mcdonnell vs Jay Carney but as that's been changed it's really only the main event that i'm interested in. think it could be a great mesh of styles and dependant on how it goes, could show there's life in both old dogs yet :-) (I hope Crolla wins or at least doesn't retire, i wanna take the kids to see him at the MEN at some point, atmosphere is brilliant)

Yes, there’s very little to like about him as a person and he massively overrates his boxing ability and standing within the sport.

I'm also looking forward to Eggington having an outing.

I've really warmed to him. Seems an honest lad and I've a soft spot for fighters that do it the hard way and make the most of their talents.

Think he's euro level but he's entertaining and deserves to make a good living. With a bit of luck he could pick up an alphabet world strap.

Good win by Ritson. Didn't really learn much about him, he just walked through Barrett.

Really looking forward to the Eubank fight never seen the Turk but you sense it’s going to be interesting

Hope they don’t rob Junior if it goes to the cards, their hope is to make this WBSS a regular tournament so won’t be good for their image if they rob him blind. Hoping Eubank stops him though

Close. Didn't get the commentary. Made a big deal about how Eggington struggled at the weigh in and looked drained and then surprised he looked flat in the home stretch.

mamoune should win but it's close. Eggington looked flat.

Yeh agree. All mouth the Turk. I lived and grew up in Germany...and Turks were all mouth then....get a one on one....and their game over. He gave it his all, but got absolutely battered and nearly put to sleep.

Who's next then? He meet the winner of Groves Vs Cox?

Anyone watching Burns Vs Crolla?

Have it 20-19 Crolla after 2. Couldn't split 1st bit clear 2nd for Crolla.

Gotta love froch’s scoring. Realises he’s in danger of scoring a draw when everyone else has Crolla ahead, so despite commentating on burns good work throughout the last he gives it to crolla to make his card look more in line.

Personally, I thought Crolla won it by 2+ rounds but I like Burns.

Wouldn't be upset with a rematch. Good fight. Both honest professionals and, in Burns case at least, think they deserve pay days. It will be a crime of Burns retires broke.

All in all, good night of boxing. Disappointed Sam lost. But he's young and looks like making weight is a problem for him.

I thought that was closer than you lot. Didn't see a wide Crolla win at all. Looked crude to me and burns boxed his head off at times, especially into the later part of the fight.

Didn't think it was a bad little scrap to be honest and I'd rather see a rematch than Crolla step back up to world level at this point. Futile for either man imo regardless of who won.

There's talk of Luke Campbell facing the winner of that, I'd steer well clear if I was Crolla.

I thought that, he had Crolla 1 round up going into the last and despite burns clearly winning the round he magically has Crolla '1 or 2 up' after the last.

They need to sort themselves out with this the sky commentary team. Similar theme in a lot of fights. I'd rather them not bother scoring and just commentate.

I think froch and the sky team are just 'selling' fights. But they're under pressure to make out every fight is the thriller in Manila.

Earlier in his commentary Carl said he thought Crolla was clearly ahead. So had to over emphasise Burns work in the later rounds.

I'm sure the ITV pundits made the eubank v Turk sound close, despite being a walk over

I thought it was close, actually thought they were trying to sell the rematch as at the halfway point as everyones mentioned, the commentary team suddenly switched and was praising Burns to high heaven. Unfortunately they didn't show the undercard onboard but what was everyones thoughts on Conor Benn?. Eggington will be back he's done well for a guy that thought he was getting back into boxing as a journeyman.

Eubank creamed the Turk who looked way way way out of his depth, I still don't buy him as this great puncher but it was a sweet hook to finish it. Another robbery though as (forgot the names now) the ex german amateur won a points decision against the very tough looking 'other geezer', can't believe the commentary team and Khan were trying to pass it off as the judges just looking for something different.

Stefan Haertel 14 0 0 W Viktor Polyakov - just checked boxrec :-) (I know i'm such a casual)

To me Crolla was the winner but only due to his work rate early in the fight. Had Burns been a bit more busier earlier on then I feel he could have won that fight. Burns was certainly the dominant boxer in the last 4-5 rounds and landed the heavier hits but he was never going to KO Crolla so I think it was poor fight management early on that cost him the win.

Ok, the level of opposition wasn't great but Eubank JR looked good last night, and more importantly seems to be getting better each outing, 18 months ago I wouldn't have given him a chance against Groves, now it's a pick'em. Really looking forward to that fight.

Crolla v Burns was one of those fights which you need to score the individual rounds one by one rather than scoring at the end

Crolla’s rounds were won much more cleanly than Burns’ but they are all still 10-9 on the scorecards

However, for same reason, I don’t have any objections to Corolla getting the decision

I had it 116-114 Corolla but could understand a draw as well depending on what people liked in that last round
