Queens Day 5 - Page 2 Empty Queens Day 5

Post by legendkillar Fri 10 Jun 2011, 9:25 am

First topic message reminder :

Good morning tennis fans. This is squeaky bum time for those wanting to make a statement on the grass. Today's schedule is:

Verdassco v Roddick 12:30pm Centre Court
Ward v Querrey 1:00pm Court 1
Murray v Cillic to follow Verdassco v Roddick
Nadal v Tsonga to follow the above match
Ward or Querrey v Mannarino to round things off

Can Ward possibly cause another major upset? The match is going into a deciding final set. For British Sky viewers on Monday on Sky Sports News at 7:30pm is a special report on Womens no.1 Caroline Wozniacki.

I don't know Woofie. I remember Tsonga's match with Murray last year and he hit himself out and he did against Wawrinka just last month at the FO. I think Nadal will defeat Tsonga in 2, maybe 3 if he has an off day.

I suppose I'm basing my view on how tired Rafa is and how well Tsonga seems to be playing. However, there always seems to be something with Rafa when playing him that he won't let him beat him since that AO match. He just might not have the resistance today though.

good point Wooffie. Tsonga looks up for it this week.

by the way the weather is really bad in west London right now, heavy rain and strong winds. NO chance of play for at least an hour I would think. I'm going back to my work Doh

Yep agree, Tsonga will be a strong test.
And Rafa has doubles too...he must be mad.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Rafa lost today....if he starts trying to rush like he did yesterday, that could be his downfall as much as anything else.

I just think he's all in and it was this time last year he lost to Feli...I know it's not in his nature to give in, but it might just not be there today.

The way the weather is looking, nobody's going to get finished today Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't be surprised if Rafa looses the doubles. Think he will go for the singles. I just don't think Tsonga mentally can hold together if he finds himself in a commanding position.

When I was there yesterday they still had to wait a bit after they uncovered the courts so it could dry out a bit before play restarted. Maybe that's the reason?

I mean it can't be helped if your opponent withdraws, but when you're paying £90 a ticket ... its tough on the average tennis fan.

I reckon this is the thread to clap Ward. What a great tournament he is having.

Well, tired looking or not, Rafa is looking pretty relaxed which is good to see.

I have no idea what the hell Pat Cash was on about there. He tried picking a technical issue with the Tsonga forehand and then retracted!! What is he on about!!

On serve still 4-4

We are on serve in the 2nd. Mannarino looks like he isn't going out without a fight.

I think he can do well on all surfaces SL. He just needs a little work on his court speed and footwork. Better accuracy on his backhand and he will be worthy of a spot in the top 100.

Ward bottled that a bit unfortunately, needs to remember all the good stuff he's played here so far, and forget the dodgy last 15 minutes or so. Going off court to clear his head a little, good idea.
