I like the name change Flipper - you inspired me.
I'll be seeing Star Wars this evening.
I remember seeing the first one when it came out.

This episode of Star Wars makes the prequels look like Citizen Kane.
The Star Wars Christmas special has a better plot and is better acted.

Superb review Rick, can hate the film without having to endure it.

I like to try and provide a public service.
It appears some people on the film thread agree with me.

Strange to see such a similarity of opinion. Maybe they're terrified of you because of your legal background and feel obliged to agree.

Although one of the people agreeing with Rick hasn't seen the film and appears to be an angry Incel.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I disagree with everything rick wrote, even though I haven't read that either.

Bloody hell these fires are insane. You alright up there, PJ? Sky was black here yesterday, had ash flying onto the balcony, some woman walked past me and warned us she’d just been hit in the face by a flaming ember

I've had ash fallout on and off for a while now. Most of it is quite fine though unlike in 1994 where large burning pieces were falling from the sky... but the fires back then were only about 3-4 km away in Lane Cove NP (I was living in Lindfield at the time). That year the Royal National Park also got a hammering. These ones are much bigger but further away. The difference is that the smoke from these ones just lingers... the wind pushes it one way one day; then back where it was the next.
I just can't get over the scale of it all. So much pristine bushland has been affected but I think most of it should bounce back. It's part of the cycle.
Even when Cook sailed by 250 years ago he described "hundreds of fires" burning all along the coast. More people here now though... and some are in very isolated pockets where you really are in the hands of the gods.

It's certainly unlike anything I've experienced, and seemingly unlike anything most people I know here have experienced too, being mostly in their twenties. The way the two might join in the Blue Mountains is quite crushing

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Yes, I know the area around Mt Solitary / Ruined Castle opposite Katoomba. Used to go there when I was in the army cadets. To think that the fires have connected all the way up to there... from Lake Burragorang and it doesn't take much to jump across the Great Western Hwy and then connect up with the fires at Blackheath / Mt Wilson / the mega blaze at Colo / Wollemi. Saw some blue sky today though and even had a few drops of rain. Ridiculously small amount - less than 0.1mm. We need about 200-300mm! Even then there will be layers of leaves still smouldering underneath (a bit like the northern peat burning in the UK last year). It will take a while to completely put out but it won't be so much of a threat to life/wildlife, etc.

Classic f*ckwittery on the go on Twitter - queen of woke, JK Rowling made a comment in defence of that woman who got sacked for upsetting the trannies and the c*ck and lipstick brigade went into meltdown. Bebe Neuwirth (Lilith from Cheers) originally liked Rowling's comment but was then told that her opinion was wrong so now she's unliked it and made a grovelling apology for liking it in the first place.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Last day in work for me for a while and looking forward to a chill one, no relatives at mine for a change so can kick back.
Running around delivering stuff tomorrow, then to the pub with mates.
Made a big pot of chili yesterday and roasted a gammon joint, so even fed and watered for a while.
Though I f***ing hate wrapping presents.

I find that my present choices for Mrs D tend to be cuboid in nature.
Everything else she wraps, I provide alcohol and Christmas Films.

I have not. Where I come from it's traditional to force a cat into the washing machine for Christmas and then complain about the long wait in A&E.

That guy they found in Hounslow the other day. His middle name was Shah. Sent a chill through my mind until I read that this poor bloke was a bit older.
