They had a head of steam and it always looked like they were going over.
Its probably fairer to let the ref make a judgement in these ones

They only showed it from that angle once and it was clearly grounded short. Why didn’t he look again? Ireland and French refs, greatest pairing since Thelma and Louise.

There was no great view of the grounding, so went with on field decision

I said the front angle - they only showed it once and it was clearly grounded short. You can’t roll it over the line as far as I’m aware but we couldn’t see that anyway.

They should check it at least.
Weird that no English are complaining about Sexton today. If AWJ was whinging they’d be crying for the next 2 weeks. Toxic people.

It's a maul not a tackle so van der Flier is fine to play it on the ground. He isn't held by a Welsh tackler. Same as if a maul comes down in open play, the attacking side have a chance to get the ball to ground so it's available to play by the 9.
We didn't see the ball grounded over the line on any angle but the ref and touch judge both saw it grounded over the line so were just checking the knock on.

Poor poor defence from Ireland there. Great line by Parkes, 9 times out of 10 he grounds that cleanly. Big stroke of luck for Ireland.

Re: Ireland vs Wales - Six Nations Round 2
On the one hand I thought that steal by Stander was fine.
On the other hand if it has been penalised there's definitely a question of yellow card that close to the line.
This game is on the edge here.

If you’ve got 20 minutes to score two tries, and Poite is the ref, don’t call for a scrum after a penalty. They take about 2-3 minutes with him!

Ref was screaming 'no hands' before the steal.

I know, but there's no one on their feet clearing out for Wales so I don't think it's the right call.
Obviously Stander should still release if he hears the ref screaming no hands.

Re: Ireland vs Wales - Six Nations Round 2
BigGee's taking time out his weekend to mod the thread. Stay polite please 606ers.
The 6 Nations is wonderful tournament but I really wish we could have cleaner threads that concentrate on the rugby on 606v2. A few too many posters seem to buy into the silly rhetoric from some players with words such as 'hate' and 'war' thrown around all too frequently.
