To the chagrin of S_R I enjoy eating in places like Nandos and Wagamamas. It's nothing special but you know exactly what you're getting and is reasonable enough. Before the pandemic we went to Bella Italia every tuesday for £5 pizza/pasta with a couple of drinks, decent food and didn't break the bank. If someone tastes good it's good irregardless of price.
Are you a chav?
And you are correct, you know exactly what you are getting.

Well, I didn't vote for Corbyn, I voted for the Labour candidate where I live. I did vote for Kgan though. I woukd still vote the same again, as they were the most credible options to me. I would likely vote labour again at the next election as things stand.

The grilled chicken is alright, all the salt and sugar laden sauces, chips, coleslaw etc is not.
On another note I've just hear Idiot in Chief Emma Thomson claim that Tsunamis are as a result of Climate Change, what an utter, utter cretin.

So let me get this right...if someone once voted for Corbyn it then discredits and delegitimises all their future votings....that is what you're implying right?

What's not healthy about most of the menu options at Wagamamas? Given the tastiness of most things there I'd hazard a guess that the salt content may be a bit higher than a home cooked meal but going there say once a month can't really be unhealthy.

First of all it was tongue in cheek, second of all any vote for Corbyn does imply something.

You implied it was by asking if grilled chicken "was relatively healthy"
I don't care if you go to Nando's, McDonalds, Wagamamma, Pizza Hut etc, just don't complain that Britain is obese and don't complain that the NHS is hamstrung by diabetes.
Personally I'd put a tax on these sort of outlets unless they make their menus healthier. There's no need for those levels of salt or sugar in any food.

You would need to know what else I eat in a week to assume that eating out once or twice a week in unhealthy. You don't so you're generalising based on your own dislike of 'fat' people.

I’m not sensitive at all about criticism of Labour, indeed I’m happy to indulge in it from time to time when it is merited. However, and this is a particularly important point, I am quite vehemently against the demonisation of a politician because of their views/policies (yes I’ve done it myself in the past, shame on me) because, demonisation or vitriolic criticism of a politician on one side leads to retaliatory abuse coming back the other way and before we know where we are political debate ceases to be about policy and descends into a toxic personality cult slanging match. Guess where that ends up when radicalised nut jobs start observing such debates???

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I've got a mate who has sold up a big house in Ealing to go ack home to Glasgow area. But struggling to find anything, as says property prices have gone mad, with people returning. He will still do 2 days in London a week, but has used this as an opportunity to go back.
Annoying as he was my golf buddy! But, he has the links to Troon and has got me onto others for free. So, what's the realistic amount of time you can keep rocking up on a mates house in Scotland to play golf?

A big house in Ealing should in theory buy you a castle (or pretty much anything you want) in most areas of Scotland outside the posher suburbs of Edinburgh. Where’s he looking??

I've been to his family home, which is maybe 45 minutes or so from the airport, going troon way. He says that some places are going 100k plus over asking price.

Ok change it to once a week then and have the same question about Wagamama’s? Is it really that unhealthy? I wouldn’t eat there every night but I do enjoy an occasional one, infact the last marathon I ran that was my carb loading meal the night before. I suppose that could be part of your point though, if somebody was effectively carbo loading regularly at Wagamama’s but was couch potatoing rather than high calorie burning marathon training then they could be heading in the general direction of obesity/diabetes and other associated ailments.

Could pretty much get to Troon in 45 mins from the airport (I assume Glasgow airport as Prestwick is barely 5 mins from Troon). Outside a couple of pockets of Troon there’s not a lot of expensive areas in Ayrshire, maybe Alloway, on the south side of Ayr or I suppose up the coast road some of the little villages like Seamills?

Surprised to hear about the Glasgow house prices .Ive been going through the process of selling my place and buying a do upper and I had people teling me that in some areas up near the uni and hospital houses were selling same day at well over asking but it was specific areas and right at the end of stamp duty holiday. Since then Ive got a place at the asking which had been dropped by £10k a week before. market seems to have cooled down

I left the industry a few years ago but talk to some mates still in it. Things are completely different now. Back in my day, people would think nothing of spunking thousands of pounds on food and wine on the companies money. Nobody really asked questions. It was only after the Libor scandal that people starting getting a little edgy about it. These days they need to get pre-approval for certain levels of gifts and hospitality. Even if they are the recipient of the hospitality they need to fill in anti corruption forms after the event.
I think the article got it about right with the line - rinsing the rich and stupid. Sounds apt.

Snobbery of the highest order (or should that be lowest order) Mac. I don’t particularly like burgers, so unlikely you’d ever see me in a burger place, if I was starving and there was a Nando’s, yes I’d be in there, no hesitation. Out of the general list mentioned, Wagamama would be my most frequented one. If it was a choice between a Waga and a decent foodie pub, I’d probably take the decent foodie pub. I have no view nor would I wish to cast any assertions on the clientele of any of those range of establishments, not sure of any value attached to doing so either.

I doubt many here are as foodie as Jay Rayner, as mentioned earlier, he reviewed very well a kebab house in London and also declares a love of Nandos.

Why would that be good news exactly??? Don’t tell me, just a jokingly throwaway tongue in cheek comment?
I’m sure you’ll come back with something like, he whitewashed over atrocities in Vietnam, he was complicit in invoking the Iraq war blah blah blah. How can it not interest you? You seem to be the sort of person who is very interested in what he, and others eat, you have big thoughts on taxing sugar and salt content in resteraunts and takeaways. I would probably put you down as one of the most interested in food people I've ever come across.

Obviously I like food, but I dont take it further than eating for sustinence really.
A foodie is someone with an interest in food. Your interest may be different to others, your interest may only be what's low I'm salt, sugar, fats etc. You are still as much interested in food as someone who likes fine dining. And probably more so, then people who spend over the odds on wine and meals because of the name.

No, I wasn’t.
Do I think back to how I felt at the time and think…what a twisted Muppet I was? Yes I do actually. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with realising you’ve been a bit of a dick at times in your past and learn from it. Why should that disqualify you from pointing it out in others when you see it?
Good of you to acknowledge that error Jas. Good for you.
Didn’t see it as an error at the time, it’s gradually came to me over the past few years as political debate has got extremely polarised and toxic and there I was wading in, adding to the toxicity. I suppose it was Jo Cox’s death that started the “How did things get here?” kind of thinking. I could cite the media for whipping up bad feeling particularly toward certain politicians/political groups. Easy to see it and criticise it but…if you’re going to do that (which I do) then you have to look at yourself and ask…Actually am I any better than they are? When I asked myself that question, the answer was no. I’m still learning to despise the policy not the messenger delivering it.
That’s a lot to do with why I get annoyed with modern day politics, it’s all about personalities not policy. That’s got to change or there will be more Jo Cox’s or David Amess’s

That's a very binary way of looking at it, C3PO.

I was invited to a 'Thatcher is Dead' party, needless to say I accepted.

Whay i think is that the food i eat is sufficiently good for me and I have no interest in looking for food which detracts from nutrition and masquerades as "art" such as espoused by intolerable pr1cks like Heston Blumenthal.
I eat for nourishment, not for pleasure.

Not exactly helped by the likes of Angela Rayner. Thats not a very intelligent or engraciating way to carry on, especially for a deputy.
Im sure there's examples of the right being just as bad to the left
