Too kind, Galted. I'm now thinking of upsetting the snooker board by pointing out that Ronnie O'Sullivan isn't statistically half the world champion Joe Davis was.

I'd upset them by claiming that snooker is hallucination-inducingly tedious and nowhere near as thrilling as test cricket and that Ronnie O'Sullivan is statistically inferior to Graeme Hick.

I'm very upset that my old mate WG Grace has had 2 centuries stripped from his record.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
I went back to the Motherland this weekend.
Went to one of the roughest pubs, in the roughest part of Runcorn which is saying something. Still safer than anywhere in Scotland, but by English standards it was bad.
I found it both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. I survived my yoof by being Northern. I am so Southern now, I was glad it didn't kick off as I may have done a Galted and hidden in the gents loo.
This could have gone on the Runcorn thread but decided to post here. That is the sort of dynamic decision I make on a daily basis.

'Loo' sounds like a limp-wristed southern word but it seems to only be Men of the North who use it. Surely 'bog' would be more natural or do you not use it to avoid confusion on account of how many of you live in actual bogs?
My ex-housemate and I once went into the local pub having signed a contract for our new flat. We didn't realise that it was a Millwall pub and were given the death stare by about 50 tattooed slabs of mutton from the moment we walked in. We only meant to have one but didn't want to appear to be intimidated and ended up having a good four or five rounds before interest in us dwindled. Didn't use the bogs/loos though as I suspected I'd be given a good stabbing, in both senses of the word.

It was not the Addy, Pee Jay. That would have been safer.
I did not visit Fezzy Way either. I did, however, have a chip kebab from somewhere which can only be described as outstanding.

There are pubs in certain parts of Glasgow and Edinburgh where someone will come in and tell you that they're planning to rob a local shop and ask you if you want them to nick something specific. Once spent a couple of hours in Robbie's on Leith Walk on a Saturday afternoon and during my time in there I was offered (at not very reasonable prices) some chicken (whole bird or breast) and a pair of size 8 Nike football boots.

I'm not overly familiar with the format but did someone buy it/sell it? What was its value. Sounds like I missed a treat there.
