Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
your points mate:
1) Draft should be a free pick
2) I think the budget should be dropped but not as low as £100 mil as you will find some managers will want to bid against each other for players and also some might want more than the 25 players in their squad for decent back up - having more cash than £100 mil does this but certainly £800 is way too much if the draft is free - maybe £250 mil or something like that?
3) I agree that sticking with 80's players - gives a much bigger pool and people can certainly find out about players by looking on youtube/wiki/google - it will be an education for the youngsters about REAL rugby players
that ok?

I think a squad limit should be thought about with such a massive pool of players

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
Ok good midday guys.
The draft won't cost you anything then, you can choose your players at free will, I won't draw up lists or anything would take far too long.
I will stick with 80's players aswell then.
Squad size first of all everyone should have 20 players when the draft is finished, with the money you have left I will drop everyone's budget to £200 million that's the starting budget, you will then be able to buy 5 players in the foreign transfer market to make it up to 25. When everyone has 25 players, I will up the squad limit to 32.
As you will get bonuses, monthly bonuses and prediction bonuses just like on the ERL game if that's ok with you pullthestrings.
Please can everyone get a link in, I need a team name from Bathite and I also saw prop_lyd commenting on your page banafan-aka-hon does that mean he is interested in this game or not.
Thanks guys

80/90/10/11 players mate - so you could have something like McCaw and Michael Jones in the back row - that would be awesome!
if you need a hand when it comes to choosing we can advise you as well = also google, youtube - wiki great for advice.
It will be an education on real rugby players

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
You will be fine Driver, wikipedia has all of that stuff.
Just go down the British and Irish lions capped players, and see who played in the 80's, 90's, 2000's and see if you can remember or know any.
Same with the other national sides, wikipedia has every capped player from every country so just scroll down to the players who got caps between 1980-2010 and choose from there.
Also have a look at previous World Cup squads, or type in a team name like Gloucester former players and it will have a wikipedia page with some former Gloucester players on it, Bath, Leicester, Northampton, Toulouse, Munster and Super Rugby sides etc... will have the same.
Links in then please not many more to go, still one more vacancy but fingers crossed prop or fluxy takes that spot.

It's not based on wikipedia, you only may need it to find players names if you aren't that clever on 80's players.
If you know your players Bathite you won't need to look mate.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
hahah - no just means some people without knowledge of SOME players can find out about them if needed . . . .
I personally don't need wikie to know how good players like Michael Jones or Sean fitzpatrick, underwood were, ian jones or John Eales . . . . but some might.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
Would prefer the game was kept to 90's, 00's - how can you compare someone in the 80's against a professional in the 00's..
Sticking to player 1990+ at least means players were turning semi to fully professional.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
I personally think 1990-2010 will be best.
1980's is a bit too much for the younger guys, while in all fairness I don't have the great wider range of the 1980's either.
1990's to 2010 would be easier and will be quicker to get through. People in 1980's would be hard to compare like pullthestrings said, plus they are a lot older now than the players you will get in the 90's.
You can buy players what played rugby in the 1980's and 1990's, but players fully in the 1970's-1980's would be that little bit too difficult for some.
Will concentrate on 1990-2010 then, I think it's best for everyone.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
Have to say I am really looking forward to putting a 'legends' team together for this game and have a few players in mind. I don't see the problem with keeping it as from 1980 onwards myself, it just mean if people select 80's players they run the risk of people not knowing/rating them on predictions, all part of the fun.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
How will we be rating players?
I won't be putting any base on standard changes from 1980/90 till now. Basically I will be assuming the wingers who Underwood would skin is as good as the one whom Tommy Bowe now skins.
Also, Will we be putting dates next to our players or will all players be assuming each player is on there best form?
basically if I signed mike phillips would I be penalised for him being gash now although he was a world beater in 2009?

We will be rating players by how good they were in there prime, like you say Phillips was quality but now he has gone down hill.
But you will rate Phillips by when he was in his prime, like all other players if possible please.

Right folks
What are we doing, we need to get this off the ground or it's going to die a death.
Bathite, are you in or out mate? We need a team page if you're in.
Bear
We need to get this running soon man, may have to go with 8 or 9 teams rather than 10 if necessary. if we do I can alter the draft format accordingly for you.
Let me know

Anyone got a suggestion for a 10th person? If not I think we need to get started with the draft this afternoon.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game
right in a nut shell.
We need 1 more manager to make it a full 10 teams.
Once we have we will have a draft process where the teams take it in turns to choose players from positions stated in the draft.
The team choosing first, second third etc . . . changes so everyone gets a chance to choose first/last in a particular draft.
Once everyone has chose I believe 20 players then the transfer window opens and you can top up your team by buying players - up to 32 in a squad.
then the game starts and the rules are similar to the other leagues.
My suggestion if teams have players you don't know much about go check them out and do some research on the web to give you an idea.
any other questions young man?
