The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Not good, not good at all. Hope your nerves calm down before the interview. And then straight to the pub I reckon.
On the bright side, Hobo, your day couldn't possibly get any worse

Ahhh I hate flying. Didn't used to bother me but I've developed a real phobia recently and this has just made it worse. Was reading about that airfrance crash this morning too....
Good luck with the interview. At least that should take your mind of the return flight

Good luck with the interview Hobo.
I LOVED flying. I did it for the first time ever in January and it was amazing. The second flight I did to come back had a bit of drama as well but it was all worth it Ic an't wait to go somewhere again.

Ah Hobo, that’s a nightmare. I get bad pains in my ears and sinuses when I’m flying but I can imagine when the pressure goes that quickly it’s much worse! Not to mention the blinding fear of being on a plane when things are going wrong!
Maybe you should start the interview by telling them what happened, it’s sure to get the sympathy vote anyway!
Best of luck man.

blimey Hobo!! Glad you all managed to land okay. I'd just say, maybe take something for your head and drink plenty of water and hopefully you'll feel better soon. And an extra good luck with the interview, hope the rest of your day goes more smoothly!

Rodders - Nope I had never flown before I went to Dublin in January. Absolutely loved it. I was like a child at Christmas ooohing and aaahing out the window to myself. I couldn't stop looking outside. Coming back to Cardiff something went wrong on take off and we had to turn back, land at Dublin airport and get a new plane. That was cool though cause I met Tommy Bowe who was on my flight the whole time and I would've missed him if we hadn't turned around and changed planes
How did I get anywhere? Well I've never been abroad before obviously.

Thanks guys!
Beginning to relax a bit now but the headache wont shift - maybe I will go and get some [non drowzy] paracetamol.
The worst bit is I have to go back via gatwick tonight - hope they have fixed the plane by then!

That might not be a bad idea actually Hobo... just do whatever you need to put it out of your head. Chillout music, caramel macchiato, whatever. Get zen
Mickado, advice. Obviously I'm in Dublin on the 19th/20th August which is a Friday and Saturday. The plan was Ireland vs Connacht on Friday night followed by Ireland vs France the next day. But do you think Leinster vs Melbourne Rebels will be better value on Friday?
I love flying. It's wonderful. But I wouldn't have loved that...

Wow, well I suppose there's plenty to do in the UK I suppose. I'd go bananas if I couldn't get off this fecking Island a few times a year .
I fecking wish I lived in mainland europe then I'd never fly again!

As,
Like I said I'm hoping that we get Exeter away in the first two games, because I'll miss the last four. But as long as Dragons v Chiefs and vice versa isn't game 3/4 I'll settle for anything.
Some Afghan Sendoff.
Stag, we'll leave the Heineken quarters to the rest of you. I know how precious you Irish, English and French guys get about it. I do hope to finish third Welsh Region next year (at the very least)

Good question Notch, i'd imagine it will be easier to get to because the Connacht game is in Bellfeild (i think).
In terms of squad strenght i'd say the Ireland game will be better. But i'll be at the Leinster game which I'm sure is a positive for you...

Rodders - I'm sure there's plenty in Ireland to see and do (I assume that's where you are?). I guess it's that old adage that you never know what you've got until it's gone. There's a lot of the UK I haven't seen - even important parts of Wales.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I reckon it'll depend on what team Connacht field. If they do what everyone else does and play fringe players then the Leinster V Rebels game will be more fun.
If Connacht put out close to a full team and are allowed to field potential Ireland squad players like Duffy, McCarthy and Wilkinson (to maximise the selectors list of players to watch) then the Ireland match could be a cracker.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Grey, that would make for a good game alright. Could this game end up like the one before the 99 (I think!) world cup when Munster beat Ireland?
Would love if Leinster could field this kind of team:
VDM – Strauss – McGrath/Hagan
Toner – Sykes
Murphy - Ruddock – Ryan
Boss – McKinley
Carr – O’Malley – Macken – Conway
D. Kearney
Only 1 player there that is NIQ.

What there's important parts of Wales?? ...
Only joking yes thats very true there's lots of places I haven't been. I'm ashamed to say I have never been to the fine cities of Limerick or Cork!! In fact I'm not sure if I've actually been in Munster......

Rodders, only thing for it is to have a busload of 606 Ulstermen come to Thomond Park.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Sounds good Stag. I'm going to make a point of getting to the next Munster - Ulster game at Thomond. I was all for going to the magners final but the boys slipped up

Sykes and Strauss are (like it or not) project players.
Or to be pedantic, Struass is a project player and Sykes is NIQ until October, when Struass becomes IQ and Sykes becomes a project player. It amounts to the same thing.

However as it stands all 3 are NIQ. None of them can currently play for Ireland. Project players are stilll NIQ.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The provinces must produce player to play for Ireland. My point is that all bar one of those players could play for Ireland. I’m fully aware a project player can’t do it.

I don't know Mick. To be thats a long long reach to make. A guy like Sykes can play for Ireland in 2015. Its a bit of a claim to suggest he isn't non Irish qualified.
IMO Leinster will probably sign Connachts Andrew Browne in time.

Probably pretty close, but I think the players I've highlighted will be involved for Ireland that night?
Any chance of Ed O'Donowho? being let out of the basement you've got him in? Hasn't exactly racked up much gametime under Schmidt!

Yeah one of the jobs I am dealing with was about 2 minutes away from being a real absolute tragedy. Fortunately it hasn't turned out that bad and some positive will hopefully come from it for all concerned, although it is certainly going to be a long and difficult road for the people concerned to get themselves sorted.
