The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Morning All. I'm wide awake in bed listening to the rain outside. If I had Sky I couldve watched some Kiwi rugby. This is good practice for the RWC I suppose.
Risca - glad the moving in went OK, and the exams are done. I did hear a bit of Tom Jones on Radio 2, but had to turn it down when he was talking. He bangs on about the same rubbish in all his interviews; he's actually not very interesting.

Morning Cari. Just nipping in to say I really enjoyed last night at the beer festival with Penfro. And we got back in time for a couple of jars at his local pub.

Morning all. I got up about half an hour ago, stepped outside for a cigarette and it started to rain. Ah well, it's still Saturday!
Can any English regs tell me a bit about Andy Tuilagi? Of all the Tuilagis, I've heard about him the least.
Oh, and I'll have a if I may.

Anyhoo, I've been emotionally blackmailed into getting another family dog (our 11yr old GSD died last year) Its gonna be be a boy Golden retriever. Any ideas on names? The original the better, not to keen on typical 'dog' names.

Morning all
Hoping the rain holds off here this morning as I am playing golf this morning.
Bit stiff after playing two 11 aside matches the last two nights.
Scored 3 goals though so boom.
I see James O'Connor has confirmed on his twitter account that it's official that he is joining the rebels.
I wonder what that means for Danny Cipriani. I know James can play 10, ,12 or 15. But with Kurtley Beale going there as well that narrows the positions he will play so.

Sorry for asking, Breadvan
Micky, with James O'Connor arriving it won't just come down to who's the better player but who has the best attitude. On both counts, Cipriani could struggle.

Nonu shouder charge on Carter, 3-0 Crusaders. Unusual for the "home" team's kicker to be booed.
The touch judge mistakenly called the tackle late rather than no arms, Andrew Hore to the ref: "Are we not allowed to tackle Carter in this game?"

Slept in a bit but only missed 20 mins of the rugby, not quite sure if I'm enjoying this match or not.
Breadvan - sorry to hear about your dog last year. A Golden Retriever is a great choice for another dog though, we had one when I was growing up and she was amazing! I won't suggest any names though, I always find it a really personal thing when you name a pet, but once you get the right name, you'll know
Rev - great one on the exam and the moving in!
Rhino - good luck on the verdict of the interview, will keep my fingers crossed for you

Munsty, he may run things close. He's possibly the quickest wing in NZ at the moment, which counts. Lack of versatility may hurt him if he's not seen as a starter though.

Golden retrievers are absolutely lovely family dogs, they're very gentle and placid- when they are adults! If you get it as a young puppy it'll keep you on your toes
But no, they have a lovely temperament. Really good breed for the family- I suspect if you have kids you might not get that much input into the name but we really need to know the gender here!
If I had another dog I'd call it Jack or Ronnie for a dog, or Min for a bitch. But as dreamer says, it's a personal thing.

Kiwi,
Cory Jane will be lucky to be keeping his place won't he? He has looked off-colour throughout the comp.
We had a cocker spaniel when I was younger. He was named Vlad.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I still find it strange to refer to a female dog as a bitch (even though I know it's correct, it just sounds horrible).
Like when our dog Becky died when I was 20, our neighbour Mrs Jones came round and all she said about my dog was that "She was a lovely bitch".
Cue slight pause of horror from me before I realised what she actually meant!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The whole point is then when you call someone that, you're comparing them to a female dog
When you're actually talking about a female dog, it's not as offensive to them!
It's interesting how over time words take on a life and meaning of their own and we forgot their original meanings entirely. For example, gay. I'm feeling very gay today! Very happy
Ooh, Cruden really made a big mistake trying to place that ball. Turnover. He was smashed.

It's a nasty sounding word as well isn't it; bitch. Plosive at the start, that 'ch' sound at the end. Sort of word that you can spit out with a lot of venom.
