First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini

Well at least you didn't fall asleep - I'd have expected that at cricket! Wink I'm surprised they managed to play any cricket yesterday with the dodgy weather. Did the Dragons win then?

Yes, exciting game but not much fruit for the Tahs.

They are masters at blowing chances and it wouldn't surprise me if they struggle later on and just scrape home...or dare I say it for a crunch game...lose.

Laugh his derriere is pointing south at the moment...

Should have more points on the board. Even though the Brumbies have had problems all year they'll produce their best against NSW.

So frustrating watching the Tahs play - I feel like a Wales supporter. mad

I don't understand the Tahs. They do all their best stuff playing a fast high tempo of rugby then decide just to slow it right down?

Exactly, they rush things most of the time (10 phases, then spill the ball or get in each others way)...then when time is critical they walk around like Brown's cows.

That's right, kick it out... ?

They will never win the comp with Halangahu at first five. He is in just no way strong enough to lead a side from the pivot.

Cheers Cari and Dreamer. Glad it's all pretty much sorted now. Yesterday was pretty stressful though.

Anyway, lunchtime. Can't decide whether to go for the meal I've paid for (in the cookhouse) or go into town and eat somewhere after a haircut. Always big decisions to make.

Good win for Wigan last night hey Munster.

Halangahu is the man Matt Williams wanted to bring to Ulster as our main outhalf Shocked

He only signed Humphreys as cover. Pienaar gets the headlines, and Humphreys is rightly criticised for his defence at times, but would we have gone as far we did this year without him?

Munsty, I didn't realise that it was ending! Such a shame.

Rev,

I hadn't seen it. Good victory. I say Saints can't wait to get home and away from Widnes.

Notch,

I was not aware of that. Watching this you've got to be glad.

I see NSW have two first fives in the U20 squad so they'll be hoping one of them comes good.

Timani scores a try. I really hope he decides to play for Tonga at the World Cup.

Yeah the Churchill Cup is ending. To be fair, the quality of teams has really gone down and it's just not enough of a development tool for England anymore.

I made the same point on one of the posts out there; Martin Johnson must be frustrated at the way it's been so easy for the Saxons. Hard to judge a guy like Matt Stevens in that context for instance.

Exactly Notch. Teams like an unprepared and weakened US side and same with Tonga is not enough.

When they lost the Maoris, that was a big blow and then Ireland got strong and left immediately after they won.

Dan Vickerman is back.

Bye bye 'Diff. It was a pleasure (again).

Prop, we did leave some beer for you. The bar is an elongated 'u' shape as you walk in. Beers are arranged alpabetically by brewery, with A being on the far left of the bar. The exception being three 'trade bars' at the front end of the bar for Brains, O(tley), and Tomos Watkins (I think).

Purple Moose beers are near the top end of the right hand side of the bar. Try them!! Penfro and I went through the card there. Plus I was delighted that their Dark side of the Moose' was on at Penfro's local when we got back to his village.

We also tried Evan Evans and Red Kite brewery beers, plus a Gwynt y Ddraig cider to start. Lots of local breweries are doing summer beers (Cwrw Haf) at the moment. Try them all!! Very Happy

Time for a kip on the train now.

It's kind of worrying that middle ranking sides are losing players in the Super15, Brumbies and Hurricanes you'd hope would be able to improve and that would make it more interesting, but for them to be losing key players...

True Notch, but I think both those sides you've mentioned need a clean out. They say Giteau will be missed but will he? I genuinely think that Matt Toomua should be the guy they build the side around. A genuine out-half.

The Hurricanes have a ridiculous amount of talent in their region so I don't think they'll struggle too much.

Looks like things are getting interesting on the Dai Youngs to Wasps thread outside. Apparently it's been announced on Welsh news, can't say I've seen it for myself though.

If teams are looking for someone at out-half, they'd do worse than looking at Kushnarev, the Russian pivot.

Oh and a try for the Russian winger.

Post by Pal Joey Sat 18 Jun 2011, 12:37 pm

Sad day for Australian rugby/rugby league. David "offside" Brockhoff and Rex "Moose" Mossop both died this morning. Both were aged 83. Both represented the Wallabies, Rex also was a Kangaroo. David was the coach when we finally won the BC for the first time since 1934 - in 1979. Rex was a household name when fronting 'Controversy Corner' in the 70s and 80s, also was head commentator on Ch 7 from early 70s till 1990. Both were real characters and legends. We will miss them both.

p.s. I saw Rex often - he used to go to the same cafe on Manly beach most mornings. Even last December he looked fit. In March this year, my old man was admitted to hospital. When I was at the desk the name 'Rex Mossop' jumped out at me on the whiteboard behind the counter. I had a quick peep in his ward and he did not look so great. I got 2 x Daily Mirrors (for the footy form guide), one for Dad and one for Rex. It was the Friday of the Souths-Manly match earlier this year. I went in and opened it up on the 'Teams' page and put it on his trolley. He was sitting in his chair and gave me a half-hearted nod. I felt so sad. A few days later I bumped into his son and told him it was me who left the paper and that I hope it was OK. The son said, thanks - Dad would have liked that.

Penfro - glad you and Hound had a great night! Turns out my sister went to a last minute works do and is too hungover to come up to the Diff for the day Sad Might be a blessing in disguise though as I'm feeling pretty blah.

Have a lovely time back West Smile

And that was a lovely try by Russia!

And so close again there, just panicked a bit there at the end.

Looks like the Blues fans are in a state of panic then. I'll still only really believe it when it's announced but things are getting interesting hey?

I heard the Western Mail had a picture of Xavier Rush holding a postcard of the Giant's causeway and weeping profusely. Any truth in that dreamer? :run2:

"Oh Humphreys, this Cardiff is a wonderful sight,
There's Welsh stars out with the golddiggers by night,
Sure's there's kebabs, and chippies and McDonalds at 3,
But that's nothing to a wishful old man like me.
With Dai Young off to London I wish I'd been told,
That without him our Pro12 cup challenge would fold!
Oh David, I tell you, I'd much rather be...
Where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea!"

Wink

No offence intended to anybody, just a little joke... an old folk song that made my mum cry when she heard it right after we moved to Scotland way back when!
