The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

dreamer - its very much about selection for eatch match. I thought Wales should have olayed their beat XV v NZ and the rest v Italy.

think the final score was 34-20. equal on tries but Fiji kicked more penalties. Wales can now only finish 7th at best.
Dreamer Wales now play Ireland for 7th/8th. So looks like 8th at best for ye

Coaches said today they had learned a lot in the first game against the Saffers and felt they would perform a lot better. Probably exhausted and were always going to up against it given the overall size of the opposition.

Hound - I think you're probably right, especially when in this tournament points difference counts for so much in getting out of a group. Bah. Never mind.

Ah Robbo you were too strong in the top 5.08cm. in the end. That was the differ. That and your front-5, imo. And Ford. So composed.
But the French really pushed ye at times in the 2nd half. Really went for it, over-pushed it and blew 2 tries in the process. Still think England would have beaten them anyway.
Best Final. Be interesting my man.

Wow, the Stade Français affair is looking increasingly like one of those on-line Nigerian scams ;and Laporte fell for it leaving some unknown Cameroonian guy€150,000, in cash to set it up he he he he.
This is going to be fun,Stade have till Monday next to come up with the cash.
How come a guy,Laporte, who has relations in high places, knows rugby,runs/ran casinos and was a junior minister ffs, fall for all this?It doesn't smell fishy, it stinks like Grimsby of old

I won 2 games of cards at my Grandad's as well so it was a good day all round for Robbo! Cleared the etch-a-sketch for my Sunday schedule, hungover day of watching JWC finals day methinks! Can't wait, it should be a good final, hopefully we can push the Baby Blacks all the way.

I think ye can. Lot of nous, power and speed in your team. And a certain maturity maybe the BB's wont like. It will be their hardest test for sure. Which is appropriate.

I got collared by the ONS for that survey last year, just great on a Sat morning - no-one told me they were voluntary over here, and since in NZ they make responding compulsory (albeit not stricly enforced) and I have friends at the ONS ...

Is everyone on this site searching for a job? I'm looking for something in Accountancy and have a job interview tomorrow, proper bricking it, but it seems that there are a large number of guys on here looking for a job.
If I haven't got a job by the 3rd of July, I'll definitely send off my application for the Apprentice!

I think that this is the first time ever that they did not ask for middle names on the census forms,Was that so they could make things far more difficult for people who wanted to make a family tree a 100 years down the line

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Robbo - 'push the baby blacks hard' is not good enough imo. Look to how we can win the game would be my approach. And that doesn't mean neutralising their threats. England have to play their own game and believe in it. Play the man not the 'shirt'. NZ U20s are a fine team, and would be worthy champions, but we also have some bloody good players who are capable of winning their individual battles.
If we think NZ are world beaters then they will be. Aus gave them a game for about 55 minutes; England need to do better than that for 80. We haven't really clicked yet, but if we do I expect a good final. Squad rotation is tough in this comp and I can see us starting with Farrell at 10. Will be a shame, because Ford has brought more out of the players around him. And some of his breaks tonight were superb.
Fingers crossed eh.

Good call Hound. Though i remember Martin Crowe talking about NZ's great run in the 91 cricket WC, and how they ignored all the stars on other teams by reducing them to a colour. So Australia was "team yellow", the West Indies were "team red" etc. On that basis all the England boys have to worry about is team Bla ... oh. Oops

To be fair I did say push them all my way. I almost got my comeuppance for being over-confident earlier, so I think I reigned myself in a little bit! Obviously the aim has to be to win the final, but it's going to be tough.

Bore da pawb / good morning all - congratulations to Notch for yesterday!
I've been applying for jobs now and again - I should really be looking more often than I do. The last job I applied for, I had all the attributes and experience they listed in the person specification and I was really hopeful about it, but I didn't even get called to interview. It's always nice when that happens...
In other news, three things arrived in the post for me yesterday: a pair of daps I got for £19, Brian Wilson's autobiography and Glasvegas's debut album.

Morning pub
In work news I have had a good work report submitted to senior management about me for one of the griefy jobs I dealt with last week. I never joined the police to get praise, but it is always nice to be recognised for doing a good job.
England v the Baby Blacks should be a good final, I think the teams are actually pretty evenly matched. I'd settle for a final against New Zealand when the reall thing comes round in a few months time too.
Any on the go?

Morning Pete. Some job titles I see in the job pages give you no idea what the job entails.
Have England's under-20s been impressive? Obviously they've been decent if they've reached the final, but have they put big scores on anyone? New Zealand scored 92 points against someone, can't remember who...

Morning all,
I'm applying for jobs but just something for the summer. I'm not being selective about it at all at this stage.
luckless,
They're a good side with one or two very fine players but I still think this NZ side is a step above.

I really hope they take the game to the Baby Blacks. The Baby Blacks are bound to be favourites, but it would be good to see them pushed all the way.
Munsty, there's usually agency work to be had over the summer in my experience.

Luckless,
To be honest, I wouldn't mind that kind of work and do have experience in it but finding it is a different matter.
I also wouldn't mind something that I could keep part time when I go back to Uni.

Ah Pete, sure I thought that would have explained itself?!
It’s a role as part of a team that makes improvements to processes. I already do that in my current job when I have time, but this would be totally focused on improvements. Which would be ideal for me as it’s my strongest area.
When do you get to drop the learner plates from your name then?

I'm good thanks Rava, really enjoying it mate, been a good change for me as I was in my last role for 3 years and this role is very different and I also have supervisory responsibility for the team which is a new experience for me. How's tricks with you anyway pal, all good in the world of health and safety I trust?
Mick, hopefully drop the L plates in the month or so. Have set monday aside next week for completing my portfolio, then just got to get it signed off by about 4 people and I'm away.
Sounds like you're made for the job you applied for buddy, hope it works out for you.

Pete, a bit too quiet at the minute but hopefully I'll muddle through.
In a week that we here would love to erase there is some good news. Aaron McGregor a young GAA player has signed for Glasgow Rangers. Positive moves and I would like to wish him all the best. I hope Nigel Worthington gets him a cap quickly
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/gaa/gaa-star-signs-for-glasgow-rangers-16015100.html
Mind you I don't think it will affect season ticket sales that much
