Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
First topic message reminder :

Week Eleven Results

Week Eleven Review
Tomasz Adamek is a two-weight world champion, and therefore clearly no mug, but he was no match for Vitali Klitschko. Simply too small to compete, Adamek did well to last as long as he did but was never going to beat the bigger man.
Paul McCloskey should change his name to McLucky, after a terrible start he somehow managed to turn things round (helped no doubt by the home crowd cheering every punch he threw, let alone landed) and get a controversial decision against Breidis Prescott.
Some very high scores this week, even without the McCall / Cooper result, which is not in yet. which is now a voided fight.
When will I learn not to use fights from these back-water third-world countries?
'Predictor of the Week' is a tricky one this week, with Mind the windows Tino., alma, licence_007 and Reborn-DeeMcK-Reborn all getting all four fights spot on and amassing 16 points each. As it's impossible to split them, this week's award goes to Michaels, Sean, who, despite all the points on offer, still only managed a paltry 3 points. Took some doing that, well done Sean.

Look Union I was nice enough to join your competition and by dint give it a much needed air of respectability, dignity and maturity. I also make the effort to post my predictions with the regularity of the finest swiss timepiece and even defended you in the late prediction young towser affair, as such you should be more considerate of those who treat the thread with respect and not pander to those who can't be bothered to contribute in the spirit of things without being wet nursed.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
I agree Jeff, and fear not, it will stay at 12 weeks.
If it was just 4 weeks then a fluke draw prediction in the first week (mentioning no Knowsit17s) would give you a virtually unassailable lead straight away.
It is a marathon, not a sprint, as my missus says to me sometimes of an evening.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
Perhaps tweak the rules then so that you get 4 points for correct fighter, 4 for correct result (be it points or stoppage) and 4 points for early/mid/late/sd/md/ud
Then run it over 4 weeks and jobs a good'un. People won't stay interested for 12 weeks.

Has the cage been chaffing you Rowley?
Am only suggesting for the next one to tweak as per my brilliant suggestions above, with bigger points (much like F1) the likelyhood of a "freak" week not paying off over the shortened T20 style 4 week format.
I give it until week 9 before there's about 3 people entering

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
T20 is cricket for thick people with the attention span of goldfish. Union's current format is the test match of prediction competitions and as anyone not an MTV, playstation raised mong knows Test matches are far superior to wham bam thank you mam shortened versions.
Keep that faith Union, like your reverse linear threads suspect it will be many years until the genius of these threads is appreciated.

Rowley, 12 weeks = 3 months. That's a quarter of the year, it's just overkill for me personally. 4 weeks is plenty with my brilliantly revised points system.
I'll win either way, so why quibble?!

Ok, I'll see you in 6 weeks then.
(That's one and a half months though, so you might have lost interest by then.)

Scottrf wrote:How many points for a double KO?
One point for each winner, so that's two, two more for two correct methods, which makes four, two more if it's a late KO so that is six, two bonus points for getting all that right, so that is eight, and then the ten points for the draw.

Everyone seems to have opted for lukusa in the opening fight. I think everyone is missing the point that chilembe was rubbish while fighting in Zimbabwe but has been awesome since setting up camp in the Congo (literally). I also assume he just gave lukusa's brother a battering.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
Tension is mounting, exciting times here at Prediction League HQ.
We could have a new leader if anyone can find the Lukusa / Chilembe result.
Coxy predicted an EKO for Lukusa.
Knowsit predicted a draw.

Union, if you can't find it, just put all the outcomes in a hat and pick the winner yourself. You seem like a trustworthy kind of chap.
It won't anymore of a farce than the Primetime competition anyway.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
I'm following the UBO on Twitter. The fight was for their All-Africa Heavyweight Title so hopefully someone there will replace the dead cat on the treadmill and tweet the result shortly.

If someone with a Twitter account could maybe give them a prod, that would be appreciated as there is a lot at stake here.

Still happy Tino, to be honest on the grounds I normally know no more than 2 fighters each week am amazed it took this long for my pure guesswork to be exposed.
