Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
First topic message reminder :

Week Eleven Results

Week Eleven Review
Tomasz Adamek is a two-weight world champion, and therefore clearly no mug, but he was no match for Vitali Klitschko. Simply too small to compete, Adamek did well to last as long as he did but was never going to beat the bigger man.
Paul McCloskey should change his name to McLucky, after a terrible start he somehow managed to turn things round (helped no doubt by the home crowd cheering every punch he threw, let alone landed) and get a controversial decision against Breidis Prescott.
Some very high scores this week, even without the McCall / Cooper result, which is not in yet. which is now a voided fight.
When will I learn not to use fights from these back-water third-world countries?
'Predictor of the Week' is a tricky one this week, with Mind the windows Tino., alma, licence_007 and Reborn-DeeMcK-Reborn all getting all four fights spot on and amassing 16 points each. As it's impossible to split them, this week's award goes to Michaels, Sean, who, despite all the points on offer, still only managed a paltry 3 points. Took some doing that, well done Sean.

Not so my friend, 'Predictor of the Week' is entirely subjective, a bit like 'Manager of the Month', it is not automatically awarded to the highest scorer.
What! I'm the highest scorer! I am Predictor of the Week! Think you got it wrong mate! Never mind, my people will recognise me as the true King !

Re: Union Cane's Prediction League - 12th and Final Round
It's going to be a close one in terms of the fight itself, and the leaderboard at the top. I was a little bit adventurous and went for a SD to Povetkin, doesn't ever seem to pay off though.

I must admit to humming and arhing over this one, but Chagaev has been too inactive to give me confidence that he can win. Mind you, to the brave goes the spoils

Suicidal dive it was then!
Just quietly, and i'm not one to boast... but i've got 4/5 absolutely bang on the money with the Pingpong Thingy fight being an eko instead of my predicted lko......
Union, just close the competition. I've won.

Union I may have asked you this before but out of the fact I'm to lazy to go back through 15 pages to find out here goes.
Why only 5 fights every week?

Why only 5 fights every week?
Alma : 12 weeks, as there are 12 rounds in a boxing match. As has been pointed out though that is far too many, the people in the bottom half of the table have generally given up. Each season after this one though will be five weeks.
Kev : As you have probably noticed, some weeks I am struggling to find even 5, and I have to use things like Lukusa v Chilembe. I try to make things as fair as possible, so there needs to be the same number of fights / points available every week. Imagine if eddy went to Oman and I upped it to fifteen fights and everyone scored 40-50 points and he was left behind. Wouldn't be fair would it. So five it is, and five it will continue to be. I vary the number in the Cup competition, but it's the same for everyone and nobody has heard of most of them anyway.

What's this Jeff, just your predictions and no mention of your steady fall down the league? Your bullishness of a few weeks ago seems to be slipping.
Have you noticed who is just above you?

And in the fantasy football mate. To be honest as I know on average about 2 of the fighters I am predicting about my fall down the table was inevitable and probably would have been wise to reign in the arrogance a bit but such is life.

Not sure if people would object to having a 'super week', for example two groups of 5 fights. It would keep the momentum going and give some of the new guys a chance to catch up? I managed to get selections in despite my enforced absence and whilst abroad so the excuse of going away shouldn't be a factor in my opinion.
Your competition though so i fully respect your stance.

Why only 5 fights every week?

I was thinking more along the lines of the weekend of the Floyd-Ortiz fight.
Their is a lot of interesting ones.
Ermano Fegatilli who beat Stephen Foster Jnr is defending his 130lbs European title.
Fury, Witter and Casey are all fighting in belfast.
Stephen Smith is defending his British and Commonwealth titles against Lee Selby.
Floyd-Ortiz, Morales-Matthysse and Jessie Vargas-Joseito Lopez.

You make a fair point. That will be Week Twelve, so perhaps we could have a Grand Finale Super Saturday type thing going on. I'll give it some thought.

Pauls Smith and Rocky Fielding are also on the Stephen Smith bill but both look like comfortable victories.

I'd have thought he's have been on crowing by now.
Although it wouldn't be 'crow'ing, it would be 'dig a hole and climb on the soil'ing I suppose.

Can't be true. I'd definitely describe John Major having a go on Edwina Curry as manual labour.

Why have I got no points for last week (week 9)? I posted my predictions on 24 August at 4.18 am (I am in Canada at the moment). They are showing on page 15.

14 points, Eyetoldyouso, and you're up to joint 15th. Table is now updated.
Apologies to everyone, this has shaken my faith in myself and my ability to run this properly.
