West Ham Thread
Didn't play badly but just cannot put it in the net. We may have signed Carew this week but we need a goalscorer like a Chopra, Miller or Phillips. Until then we will continue to get rolled over.
We didn't deserve to lose that one, but good luck to Cardiff, great set of fans and a passionate club. We will just have to get those three points back later!

I feel like setting fire to this dressing room and watching these useless bar stewards squeal like terrified orphans. Flip furious.
West Ham plyed well, especially those in midfield- just didn't create too many great opportunities and you wasted those you did have.

That Hammers midfield of Nolan, Parker, Taylor and Noble could possibly be the best quartet to grace The Championship.
I'm assuming the back 4 and front 2 are the problem?

Re: West Ham Thread
The problem with that midfield is a real lack of pace, in fact West Ham's 11 doesn't look like a very pacy one altogether.

Re: West Ham Thread
I was most impressed today by Joey O'Brien and Matty Taylor. Two very attacking full backs and they were both West Ham's biggest threats throughout.
I am surprised they haven't given Pablo Barrerra an opportunity. He was brilliant for Mexico in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He'd more than certainly sort out that of pace.

Re: West Ham Thread
The strikers need an overhaul and I don't know whether the formation was flattering to either Cole or Piquionne, it may suit Care though.
We lack pace, but Taylor on the wing looked excellent and O'Brien was good too, as you say.
I think we will still challenge the top two but we can't throw points away like that.

Re: West Ham Thread
Is it just me o is Sears absolutley dog poo? Thinking about it I've never actually seen him play well in a game and wonder why this boy keeps being picked? He must do something well in training but cannot replicate any sort of form on the pitch!
I always thought the Prem was just too much for him and it appears that the championship is also - I think he may be a league 1 player at best!
We need to cut players like Sears from the squad pronto as he was the only one in that game who constantly lost the ball and didnt know what to do when he had it
Diabolical player!

Re: West Ham Thread
Sears is a funny one, I too often don't see why he gets picked, but Allardyce is a pretty savvy judge of a player and he must see something there. He lacks a finishing instinct and his best position is probably on the wing or just behind a front man.
I tend to find myself zeroing in on Piquionne when it comes to allaying blame. I don't get why he is preferred to Cole (and that's saying something). He came wide too much all game, fluffed the best chance of the match by dallying and just seems to have an air of laziness about him. If he bags a few I'll shut up of course.

Re: West Ham Thread
Taylor and O'Brien were the standout players for West Ham.
Even though there was a 5 man midfield against Cardiff's four we did a great job of nullifying Parker, Nolan et al. I was worried that the strongest midfield in the division would over run a midfield with three debutants (one who was 21) but they were solid.
I would have been happy with a point away to West Ham (as most teams will be I feel) so over the moon to win it the way we did!

Re: West Ham Thread
Nolan and Parker were anonymous that second half too, it got scrappy and it suited Cardiff down to the ground for me. After 70 minutes or so it just had that smell like it was going to be a 0-1 smash and grab, as I say, classic West Ham.
The first half we played some nice stuff which was heartening but I'd rather be in Cardiff's place in hindsight!
Think Gestede caused our defence more problems than Miller and Earnshaw combined when he came on, a real handful and set that goal up with endeavour. Good signing for you boys I reckon.

Re: West Ham Thread
He made a massive difference.
I think Earnshaw and Miller will struggle to play together against the better teams. At times we were clearing the ball long to keep it tight at the back and that will never suit them! Against the 'weaker' teams where we have a chance to play our own game I think it could be a good partnership.
It is nice to have options though.

Pretty quiet Demon, but our midfield had a good game as a unit and he obviously played a big part in that. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in a game that we can control to pace and style.

Re: West Ham Thread
Feel a bit sorry for the Hammers.
We had a similar problem against Portsmouth. We were 2-1 up but let a goal in in the 2nd minute of stoppage time.
Still, its early days and everyone's got time to improve. Ham Saladyce's teams temd to be pretty physical and hard to score against, so I'm sure he'll get it right with a few more games.

Mid-table, how we've missed you!
Needed that win, and we need to get on a run now before Christmas to keep us in touch. Still lacking a goal scorer seemingly.

Or 2 matches anywhere in a row...!
Great result, definitely time to kick on now. Really proud of the reaction after the Cardiff match -- could've folded, but we are improving.

I can. I saw it coming a mile off, and I knew we wouldn't be able to hold out after our slice of luck!
Players are having a tough time of it at home and we'll need to get alot better than that to be as good as some people are saying we are.

Gotta say lads, I'm a pessimistic Leeds fan, but we deserved all three points against you lot yesterday.
Having said that, it was a cracking match, really entertaining to watch.

Tell me about the ref being shocking. Parker definitely gave away a penalty by bringin down Aidan White in the box. Dirty git.

I did say to you that it wouldn't be the thumping you were expecting didn't I pr4wn! Thought ultimately a draw was fair enough, neither side carved out chance after chance or dominated entirely.
Leeds can look upwards now I reckon. We need to sort our home form out, fast.

Well said mate. Thought we were the better side and was also one of the best games I've seen in a while. Don't think we'll get promoted this season but we should be comfortably mid table
