West Ham Thread
First topic message reminder :
Didn't play badly but just cannot put it in the net. We may have signed Carew this week but we need a goalscorer like a Chopra, Miller or Phillips. Until then we will continue to get rolled over.
We didn't deserve to lose that one, but good luck to Cardiff, great set of fans and a passionate club. We will just have to get those three points back later!

Re: West Ham Thread
Hey westisbest, none that I know of I'm afraid. I generally go into the Queens if I want a pre-game beer, and there is another further along but generally that gets heaving! The ground is on the District line though, so if you wanted to go somewhere a bit nicer, jump on that and head into the City where there are plenty of pubs (although some may be closed on Saturdays). It's only a 15-20 minute train journey all told, and if you have a travel card it's easy.
Looking forward to seeing how we do tomorrow. Got a few new faces in, although Maiga and Diarra aren't expected to start yet. Reckon a draw is likely...

Cheers bud. Am getting the tube from Victoria - Upton Park.
Meeting my mate at Upton Park tube about 1. By that time there should be a fair few Villa fans roaming around, so will follow them.
If not could go for a pint beyond/bit before Upton Park tube.

Otherwise I will ask around when I get to Upton Park tube, and see where we could go.
Thanks again.

He's a good player Hodge, probably a little hard done by when we signed Maynard from you guys. He will get goals in the Championship for you, I'm sure of that.

This andy Carroll for west ham looks decent. Surprised Liverpool never went for him seeing how they need a striker

8 points is solid for me, and I would probably have taken the point against Sunderland if offerred to me before kick off.
Any O Neill team will be tough to beat, and every point will count for us.

Surprised nothing on here about John Bond - what with him and Jimmy Andrews also having recently died there must be very few of the cafe napkin management training group left alive, if not kicking.

Kwini - there was a mention on the Norwich thread.
Impressive that West Ham managed to get eight yellow cards tonight against QPR without a single duplicate turning into a red! Hammers up to 7th, for the time being. (Haven't had to play any of the top sides yet.)

Newcastle had a similar start last season, didn't play a lot of the top sides until they where well into their run and the momentum just carried on

When I read that on the live text, I laughed. I couldn't believe any defender would think he could get away with that.

Great win over Chelsea - Needed those points after heavy beating by Spurs and no points against Man U either. Carroll out for about two months.

Hammers leading Liverpool 2-1 on the hour mark. Surprisingly impressed by Carlton Cole so far, putting in a real shift and continually plugging away ....

Re: West Ham Thread
Judging by matches earlier this afternoon could easily get several more goals in the last few minutes of the match..... Gerrard usually scores when playing the Hammers - at least it was for the right team this time.

Scrambled a 0 - 0 away against West Brom. Not pretty but a useful result after losing at home to Liverpool.

2 - 1 win against Norwich has put at least temporary halt to recent downward descent towards relegation zone. Need to hang in and scrape a few more points until our better players start to return from injury.

Joe Cole re- signing for Hammers. Has he still got the old magic?
While we are at it maybe we should also re-sign Lampard, Glen Johnson, Carrick, Defoe, Ferdinand etc.

Judging from the headline in Mail on line sounds like a bit of a punt in more ways than one:
"West Ham set to rescue flop Chamakh from Arsenal misery with loan deal for striker"

I think thats us safe! Big result, only us and Chelsea have won away at Stoke this season. Big Sam did the Irons to the fans yesterday, he knew how big that win was

Crucial win - 3 -1 against West Brom. If we had lost would have been only 3 points above drop zone. Good to see Carroll hitting form.

I thought both teams would be happy to settle for nil - nil and a point apiece so credit for sharing two goals.Corporalhumblebucket wrote:Another point at the Saints. Carroll scores again...

We can't afford to keep big Andy next season apparently. That's a shame, the fans have taken to him despite the fact he is somewhat symptomatic of the football we've been playing.

Im glad we won't be re-signing him next season, i think he is one of the most over-rated players in current day football!

Re: West Ham Thread
Seriously?
He is the only man scoring and getting us points at the moment. If we are to keep Allardyce and play the way we do, then I don't see many better at it. His heading ability from corners is terrifying. I would not want to mark him.

He's convincingly our best player. I'd say £15m was a snip for him, and I don't think I believe a word anyone at west ham releases to the press either.

Re: West Ham Thread
Andy Carroll gets a really bad rep from some people out there, not his fault he was bought 35 mill. There's no debate that he's easily your best option up top with the football you are playing and he is bloody terrifying doing it! If you get him for between 12.5/15 that would be a great deal for all parties IMO.

Re: West Ham Thread
£15m is reasonable in my opinion. He's among the goals now, and I can see him thriving if we can keep him fit and get the service to him.
He isn't all brute force either, he has great technique and a really powerful shot on him.
