First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale RedWine Bubbly cider guinness appletini mug coffee cuppa

Really simple and easy to play. Anyhow I've set up a 606v2 Pub league ala Sports Guru. Code below feel free to join.

1280463-305867

Oh and 606v2 have a wider forum based one as well which should be better promoted. Code below

39455-16151

Prop, lucky and stag I haven't a clue about this 'pm' thing everyone goes on about from time to time. The link for signing up is at the top of the page. The first code is for this pub league. The second is a wider v2 league.

Anyone else see The Night Football Changed on Sky Sports? Talks about how the deal to move to the Premier League happened. Quite interesting.

I wonder though will ESPN move more and more into Sky's territory?

What do you have to say about Leinster not taking their preseason seriously when they were handed their arses after they lost 41-6 to Wasps last season ? Just asking. boxing

I had this to say

"it's just preseason"

Portnoys had this to say in response

"English teams shouldn't organise preseason friendlies with Irish teams because they don't take it seriously"

You've missed the point. None of the Irish posters have ever claimed that pre-season games demand your strongest team and outlook. He's criticising perceived hypocrisy not the actual club or result.

Nottins, the point isn't that we do better. Portnoy claimed that Irish teams don't take preseason seriously. He is right and we said to him its only preseason. O'Connell and O'Driscoll aren't gonna be fighting tooth and nail to beat the likes of Wasps and La Rochelle.

However the shoe is on other foot now.

OK.

Read that. I was very disappointed with a pathetic scoreline.

But my point was that playing Irish sides in pre-seasons always results in playing a second string to IRFU constraints on players. Especially in away games where the iconic players are missing due to over-riding central contract decisions.

The Montpellier Tigers side was pretty much a fair representation of the best available - given the availability of players in a RWC team. But the Montpellier crowd was not short-changed.

Compare that with the Leinster team that pitched up at Welford Road last season where the household names (in England) were all missing. Apart from the emergent SOB.
