Changing my mind over Christian Wade. He's been looking sensational today!!! Really really good

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Steven, at start of the season I was trying to sell Wade for £3m - honestly didnt think he was big enough to be a success at this level. Really proved me wrong. The speed he has is unbelievable - how do you defend against someone who has that sort of gas?
Want to see how he goes in wetter conditions, but looks like he's only going to get better and better! And to think I dropped him against you this week!
Great game of rugby today - didnt realise how good Poff is

Wade was really great today. he looks to me like he will be a improvement on players like Ojo and Monye when he matures.
Wasps looking strong. Who do you get back from the World Cup? Is it just Thompson and Simpson?
and where is Worsley atm?
George Ford was s h i t hot today as well. Not really sure why he wasn't kicking tbh

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
I only saw his second try which was after a good break from Ford. He played at 13 and seemed to do pretty well. Goal kicking accurate.
Wade was MoM with Ford, Poff, Wentzel and 36 probably his closest competitors for the award.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
We've got a Zak Taulafo out there too, was going to say Shaw, but he's not with us anymore - reckon he'll retire after WC anyhow.
Thought Ford was ok, had a good first half but seemed as though Leicester faded away in second half. Twelvetrees had a good game, though am sure his position is a 12.
Ford doesn't kick as Cockerill doesnt want to put too much pressure on him, its a lot for someone who turned 18 just 2 months ago. His defence was good, just couldnt get the backline moving.
The way Wade runs is very similar to Shane Williams, both similar sizes - want to see his defence tested though.

Steven - I posted last week that Worsley is about to announce his retirement, got a neck injury, which isnt going to heal and he's 34 now - achieved all he needs to.
And sorry, thought you said Ford was s h it today! Couldnt work out why you would write that lol

Missed the prem games. Wade can finish but he's just really small. Imagine him against Nalaga or Gear. Be interesting to see if he can cope in the prem when Tuilagi comes back.

Oh there's no doubt that Wade's defence could do with some work but his raw talent as a player in sublime.

What would we think to a manager of the month being re introduced??
Could be a prize if anyone could think of a decent one which isn't cash. Just list our 1,2 and 3 with explanations if needed.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Pooly - Shane Williams has done ok with his size over the last 10 years, smashed Banahan a few weeks ago! You could also say could Gear and Tuilagi etc cope with a winger as quick, agile etc as Wade?
Thought Launchbury was superb again, he's going to play for most of the season as 6 I think, seems to be a very clever player.
So many good youngsters coming though now. Really exciting times for English rugby! How good were Exeter yesterday!

Think Williams is the exception rather than the norm, he's pretty strong for his size and has always punched above his weight. Be good to see how he develops through the season when teams work him out a bit

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Pooly, can you work someone out with that much pace though? He's got an incredible step - if you do a google search for Christian Wade tries and watch the videos of him, some of the things he does is unreal.
Williams is the exception, but no reason why Wade can't become the next one - he's at the right club to stay grounded and I think he will get better and better. Varndell and him are going to mean Wasps are dangers all season.

wasps look dangerous but its post WC that will be the test for you. still unconvinced by your forwards.

Pace isn't everything Chris, it def helps though! Vardell is pretty express but lacks a brain and work ethic to make it at the top. Very early days for Wade, re-asses at mid season lol

A pack of Payne, Thompson Broster/taulafo, filipo, wentzel, launchbury poff and hart is pretty strong. need a tighthead but its pretty strong. Depth is the big issue

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
Its a tough one with the props, Broster and Payne aren't good enough - although Payne has set up three tries this season with line breaks...I think we made a massive mistake in not keeping Charlie Beech, but big things are expected of Bob Baker.
Rob webber has started the season very well and you wont get many better second row combos in the AP than Filipo and Wentzle . We've been unlucky losing Ward-Smith and Worsley to retirement, and Rees (again) to long-term injury, but Launchbury, Poff and Hart is a pretty good unit, and we've got some good youngsters Sam Jones. Billy Vunipola, Tom Everard (from Leicester), Rich Harries (Dragons) and we are meant to sign an Argentinian international backrower in next week or so.
Depth is better than it ever has been, we just need to keep gelling and improving as the team at the moment is effectively a new team that hasnt played together.

Lawes cited for Ledesma clash - hopefully we will be officiated by the same panel that let Cooper off for kneeing McCaw in the head.

Looks like Digby might be out of the world cup with a hand injury. That is a huge blow. He has been just about the most dangerous player on the planet in the recent months.

He's been in pretty tasty form, be a loss.
Imagine Lawes might get a week, possibly worth it as Contepomi going off prob allowed us back into the game.

They don't need a replacement for him with AAC, JOC and Mitchell.
Be interesting to see whether they keep Faainga in the side or put AAC back at 13 and bring in Mitchell. I think Faainga is best used against the best sides instead of the lesser sides at the world cup.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4
I don't think best sides is the phrase, maybe the sides were a midfield line breaker isn't needed.
If Fa'ainga lines up with McCabe you're relying on Cooper/Genia and back 3 to create attacking flair whilst midfield basically shuts up. Bit like England with Hape & Tindall I suppose.
I'd still like to see JOC/Fa'ainga midfield

It must be a struglle for them Pooly, I can see Deans there now, middle of the night, nervous wreck, unable to sleep
'O shoite, Digby is injured, whatever shall I do, it's a mess, do I bring in Barnes and shift AAC to the wing, or just put Mitchell out wide. How on earth can a I cope with having so many world class backs at my disposal, I wish I was managing Scotland instead!!!'
You got to feel for the fella.

Still, we always have Hape to bring in if we lose one of our top backs!
