I do check and re-check the inputs Linebreaker.
But still I got one wrong last RWC when I accidentally put Saf's points in for Scotland.

I almost had Scotland and Samoa back to front. Rights positions but incorrectly they had each others points. Fixed it now.

on their day, wales are the 4th best team in the world no matter what that table says
although a huge win for france puts them down in 6th

This is fantastic England are snapping at the heels of the big 3 and are once again the best team in the NH.
If only we had played Aus this summer then we would now be celerating a series win down under.

Australia would have well beaten England at home this summer even with all our players out injured. Our kicking is a lot better now.

I always do mysti.
Nothing I saw from England in this series stood out as brilliant... just a solid tradesman-like performance which is good.
Oz still have more work to do but are also heading in the right direction.

Wales flattered Aus, both teams were poor when you look at the bare facts, I saw nothing that would have frightened England this summer.

Maybe - i dunno enough about rugb y other than international time and those performances. I would allwasy be confident(even with an average england) of giving you lot a run for your money.
The most impressive trait you showed this time was holding on to this stranglehold you have v wales. What ever they do, however close they get- you lot just didnt let them have a game. It is winning play, and a winning mentality that needs to be acknowledged. But against england or france- i am not sure!

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
The Lions are an overhyped team from last century, HERSH. We smashed them easily last time (everyone does) and I'm sure we'll do it again next year.
mysti, France?
You mean the team the Wallabies beat 59-16 recently?
England may have trouble with France but they fear us much more naturally considering our better record.

On the basis that we have won the last two (home and away) and the last match was what can only be described as a humping the bragging rights are very much ours. You're going to have to beat us in the autumn if you want them back!

I guess we'll see who's re-built best in November then.
The team since your last (biggest ever) win over us has gone sideways and has bumbled along in fits and bursts.

First things first:
Before anyone goes banging on about the AIs and possible seedings for 2015, there is the small matter of the 4Ns (Rugby Championship).

In the normal course of events, the official rankings would have been announced by now - especially after major internationals.
It's now 1630 BST and no update.
I'd love to know by whom and whence the figures are announced.

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
OK looks like this after the official figures were announced:
Assuming ABs win, Saffers must get a big (>15) to overtake OZ.
Assuming Saffers win, Argentina stay 8th.
However should Argentina win, they would overtake Ireland.
There is no point discussing the All Blacks as they to all intents and purposes in the stratosphere.
It must be re remembered however, that congrats should be extended to Biltong and his compatriots that they rightly grabbed the top spot off 'England' in the cricket rankings.

Only tests, England are number 1 and world champs in T20 which as we all know is the future of cricket

Mystir, I care more about our series wins records. You can lose a ranking or gain a ranking in a month, but your record can't be taken away no matter your ranking.
check this out.
Since OCT 2007 (1 month short of 5 years)
9 away test series - 7 wins, 2 draws
8 home series - 4 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws
Total 17 series, 11 wins, 1 loss, 5 draws.
Makes for pretty reading.
total matches played 47, 26 wins, 11 losses, 10 drawn.

Its statisical recognition Bilty. You wouldnt be no.1 without that record. You desrve it very much. Shocked to see you climb to the top of the T20's though. England was miles ahead of that!

Along with rugby sevens.Biltong wrote:T20 is popcorn and milkshake cricket, I think that ranking is more volatile than the stockmarket just before acrash.
But the harsh reality is that T20 is beginning to reshape the financial fundamentals of cricket and looks like becoming the dominant form of the game as it appeals to the subcontinental market.
International test matches struggle to even nearly fill a 10000 stadium .
Sad but but true.

I think it's too soon to conclude that T20 will be the dominant form of the game. It's relatively new and plenty of fads fade in time.

Just watched the ABs v Australia game where the Ozzies competing against a misfiring ABs were nilled to 22. And as they say, they were lucky to get nil.
Need Deans get on the plane back?
Anyway. if SA win tonight by more than 15, they go second. A distant second, nut nonetheless, second.

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
So: a big win to Argentina could seem the leapfrog Wales and Ireland (unlikely), and a draw would see them head Ireland (possible). A Sa victory and a wallaby loss would see them swap rankings.

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
Anyone know the latest rankings? Obviously we have had a number of tri nations games. This could have an effect on the big up and comming scrap for the 4th place .
