First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the David Pocock photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Bore da pawb / good morning all. There was a rainbow on the docks this morning, which can only mean one of two things: either it's going to be a great week, or it's all downhill from here!

So Lewis Moody's out of the match against Argentina:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/14784677.stm

'The flanker has played only 62 minutes of Test rugby this year.'

Why the hell would you make him captain?

Morning.

I'd love to say I hope Penfro has an awful trip, but then it would mean a bad set of results for Wales too.

So run down today. Came back for a medical and I can't have it till a bit nearer my going away date. What a waste of a day.

Lucky, very disappointed actually. Our centres weren't up to it. I don't rate Riley, but I expected better from Ash. I hope next week Adam Hughes is at 13. I was disappointed with Steffan Jones' attempt at a tackle for their first try.

Stag, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Poole when Brewy gets back. I like him though.

I've seen Tom Riley have good games but he was very poor on the weekend. I'd say he was more at fault for their first try, turning his back on the ball carrier and losing his bearings, which let them get in behind us. Adam Jones is in the form of his life though.

Hughie, hope everything goes well. OK

My pal Eoin used to hang around with this fella in school. His name was Danny and he was a nice fella, we used to go to his gaff to oogle his seriously hot ma, we’d smoke ciggies in his garden while his mam was out doing the shopping. Gas man altogether.

He’s the photographer with the Ireland squad now, Tommy Bowe tweeted a pic of himself, Heaslip and Danny waiting to do a bunjee jump and he’s the one who was taking pictures in the Lions dressing room when Sheridan and Vickery were headbutting eachother to get the blood up.

Jammy. Bastardo.

Sometimes Riley has a good understanding with Tovey, but he's not strong enough to try crashing up like he does. You're right about him turning his back though.

Stag, I hope so. I suspect they could. That would be two abrasive wingers then. Suppose it depends on what happens with Will Harries and whether we have signed Chavanga.

Kado, a Welsh guy I know is at that bungee jump, the lucky buzzard.

Stag,RCT were impressive for the first 20,ASM weathered the storm and took their chances.Only one try, but very good.Toulon sterile and Boudjellal is angry with PSA,says that he no longer bothers about ythe club now that he has the France job.

watch out for Buttin, Fofana(oustandingIMO) and the ASM backrow:Bardy, the Portuguese international impressed me, hadn't seen him play much before. OK

I'm in London anyway Mick. The missus and me are both off same weekend - never happens as she works weekends so we'll head over to big samoke.

Mick I think that the France National Team v Club thing has got so funny at the minute. Toulouse, Toulon, Montpeillier and France all squabbling away with each other.

It's all settled Stag. PSA will be the new coach, and he leaves Toulon on 30 Sept;apparently, boudjellal has said that he can go for free if RCT are 1st in the Top14,for20,000yoys if 2nd,40,000 if 3rd etc.At the moment he will cost 160,000 chin

I think I got it wrong on Kidney. Now that the frustration of getting pasted by England has subsided I feel extremely positive about Ireland's WC prospects and can't wait for the weekend. I think we'll see a different Ireland out there.

Gutted I'm not going to be able to watch Wales v SA live though as thats the pick of the games this weekend.

Rodders I think we'll see Ireland get to a level of narrow defeats against SA and Aus rather than our current level of heavy defeats to them.

I've been thinking for quite a while the biggest hit Ireland took was the law changes of 2010. Really have yet to play well under them.

From what I've read, Bru is not a defo for the job, and Bouscatel has said he can only leave at the end of the season.I reckon they should stick by Retiere, but would PSA want to work with him?

Watching NRL and there are a few players wearing scrumcaps. In a league match? Seems to defeat the purpose - actually none of them are even in the scrum.

I do say the same thing. Its weird. I've played with and without scrumcaps. I never found they offered much protection outside of ear abrasions at scrums and I know from a health and safety / insurance point of view they aren't considered protective either.

"scrumcap" is another term not widely used down under - like "scrum-half" and "fly-half". "Headgear" is the term ised instead.

Berrick Barnes was trying to get the IRB to approve boxing style headgear after his concussion troubles this year http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/5091493/Berrick-Barnes-pushes-for-boxing-headgear
