First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the David Pocock photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Paul Deacon wears headgear for Wigan. I don't agree with it. I wore one in youth as scrummaging does hurt, but didn't keep it long. Plus it's easier to get punched one somebody has something to grab. You also spend a lot of time adjusting it.

That Dublin song is awful. Tripe. But what hype? The coaches & players arent buying into that krap. Its Kerry - the Masters, we are playing.

Having said that... Mon De Dubs! Bring Sam Home!

Believe.

Home? Limerick is the home of Sam Maguire. We won the very first All Ireland Smile

If not Limerick then its Kerry who have comfortably the most. Like all Irishmen, Sam just visits Dublin a bit. Its not his home though.

Sam Maguire was actually from London. So he’s never been “home”. And “hype”? That song is rubbish but every county has a song for the final, it’s like the soccer teams used to release one if they got to the FA cup final. Big swinging micky.

I’ve heard no hype about them whatsoever. And there’s a serious smugness off every Kerry fan I know, it wouldn’t surprise me if we lost. But if we win, I'll have no problem being a 24carat Poopie to every cultchie who ran the dubs down in the past 16 years. Oh the list is long. Remember Father Ted with his golden cleric acceptance speech, that’ll be me.

Stag, I'm not sure your right about Limerick

I was under the impression that, as the story goes, many counties wanted to use green white and gold as the colour of their jerseys and no agreement could be made. So the GAA said whoever wins the first All-Ireland can ware those colours, hence the fact Offaly no wear Green White and Gold

Arrogant muppets? That would be like someone saying that all Leeds fans are arrogant muppets? They haven’t won anything in years so if you perceive them to be arrogant then the issue lies elsewhere.

Any fans I met last year where saying Sam would be in Dublin come September 2010. They dismissed that Cork team completely. They kept talking about how "footballer of the year" Bernard Brogan would steamroll Cork. What a load of BS.

So the difference between Cork arrogance and Dublin arrogance is that Corkonians are self aware and generalistic, Dubs are not self aware and just arrogant about sporting fixtures. And that makes us "arrogant muppets" and Cork folk are...?

You don't like Dublin, it's nothing to do with arrogance. You probably don't even know what it's about yourself, although "everything gors for Dublin" suggests a bit of an inferiority complex.

Yeah Munsty. Londoners and Parisians are near the top of that table, in their respective countries.

Paris or Toutes Direction on their motorway signs, says it all. With London - its Beyond the Watford Gap - that's where them Northern Hoardes begin.

With Dublin - its the Red Cow Roundabout.

Its just a laff.

Yeah Rev, I fancy some chips too mate. Time to get peeling. I may have a homemade burger with chilli relish as well. Go mad like. And peas! I loves peas I does.

Thanks MrsP!

It depends on which mod sets up the next pub Gibbo. I was planning on McCaw if it was me Wink

Ah, Ok mate. But for the Oz game yeah? It just might swing things our way... Even if Kidney doesn't play him. Cool

Mrsp,
Have ye any salt and vinegar atall?

We'll see. Though in fairness Dreamer opens more pubs than I do. I suspect you're out of luck if Linebreaker does it again though Wink

I don't have much of a problem with Dublin itself. It's a nice city,I think there are nicer ones in Ireland but it is a nice place.
