There's politics and religion articles up in the off topic section, I'm sure if you wish to put forward an article that others would join in.

I'll second Irrational's request for a serious (news / current affairs) board as an addition to the sports-based boards. Maybe though wait a while to iron out any issues with the 606 replacement before diversifying.
Until a couple of years ago I was a member of a relatively high traffic news board operated through MSN - they pulled the plug in a similar way to the BBC with 606, but unfortunately no-one at the time offered a replacement board similar to this. I might be able to track down a few members and point them this way, to get things started.

Does this mean we can get non-sports news put on the Latest News section?

Shall we move that Politics thread to this or just start afresh? I'm open but maybe now just go from piece to piece?

If it's non sport news then stick it in there!
Stuff that's currently in off topics will be moved over in time such as religion/politics etc.

Davie wrote:Obviously he is entitled to his opinion but I couldn't disagree more.
606 was popular DESPITE its format, not because of it.
The inability to see which topics had been updated since your last visit (unless you remembered the exact time of your last visit), the inability to go directly to the latest unread post, or the last post on a topic, the fact that new posts didn't always appear immediately, all these non-standard or non-generic "features" of old 606 made it VERY difficult to keep up with.
I certainly don't understand his point about "too much space taken up" - to me, that was one of the most annoying parts of old 606, that so much screen space was wasted with large blank areas.
Each to their own though...
I can't quite agree with that.
If you went on your 'members page' on the BBC 606 it would show which topics had been updated since your last post.
Although topics appeared in order of most recently created on the forums, you could sort by most commented on, last commented, highest rated etc.
I never had a problem, keeping up with discussions on the BBC 606 website.
The feature I used most on the BBC site was the 'most recent...' feature which listed topics (for all sports/ forums) in the order they were created - ie new topics appeared at the topic. The reason I like this feature was because it shown all new topics on the site and at a moment it time.
Something like that on this site would work well.

Re: Feedback
Not quite.
That shows most recent comments. Ie the top thread/ topic could have been created three, four, five weeks ago but will show up if the last comment is recent.
I'm not looking for a last commented forum. I can see them under my posts or any individual sport.
What I am requesting is a forum that shows most recently created topics/ threads as the 'most recent...' feature did on the BBC 606 website. That was the first and sometimes only feature I would use no the BBC 606 website.
On this site you can often find new topics/ threads buried older created threads.

Re: Feedback
Hi Sportsville,
As this is a free forum we are limited with what can be done and therefore do not have the full design capability that was available to the BBC.
The 'view posts since last visit' option will show all the new created articles since your last visit, as well as the newest posts.

Re: Feedback
With the football forum you list the leagues and then have nondescript topics below that.
I was just wondering if it was possibly to perhaps after clicking football to have all football topics showing and then have the league (and the possibly club) options underneath.
Example:- If I posted a topic about Arsenal, I could see it in the main football forum (ie by clicking football), I could see it by clicking Premier League and also by clicking on Arsenal.
(I am not sure whether you could do this idea or the 'most recent...' idea without restructuring the entire forum)

Is there any chance to see all of the football threads and topics together but still keep the option to narrow the search to the leagues and then possibly the teams?

Re: Feedback
Not sure if this has been suggeted/asked before, but here goes:
I use my iphone a lot for accessing 606v2. I prefer it in 'classic' mode as opposed to 'mobile' mode. It's great, but the only problem is refreshing the page! With a long post if I am at the bottom of the page and want to refresh to see if there are any new posts I need to scroll to the top of the page (through some 50 posts) and press the refresh icon (the one which stays at the top of the screen on a normal desktop computer - unfortunately on phones it scrolls away as you scroll down the page). This is quite time consuming on a phone and I look like I'm attacking my phone with some sort of 1 fingered assault, frantically running my finger down the page repeatedly! I then need to do the opposite to get back to the bottom of the page and the latest posts!
Is some sort of refresh button at the bottom of the screen possible? Something that's always at the bottom of the page after the most recent post. It's not the end of the world if it can't be done! But if it can, it would make a great site even better!!!
Cheers
Griff

Re: Feedback
Im not sure it can be done. What I tend to do when posting on my mobile, is instead of scrolling back up the page I click on the links under the last post. It will take you back to the home page or the section you are in, depending which you click and it refreshes the posts.
From there you can click the icon next to persons name who made the last post (looks like a sheet of paper with a red arrow in it) and it will take you to the last undread post on that article to save you going finger mad on your mobile.

Re: Feedback
If there hasn't been many posts on a page then I'll just scroll to the top of the page and refresh, but if there's quite a lot of posts on the page then I go back a page and then forward to the topic I was just reading.

Re: Feedback
As YI said, there is no refresh button as such but you can use the navigation links below the quick reply box.
The ones to the left (on this thread are):
"New Topic"
"Post reply"
"606v2" (home page)
"Welcome" (The top section of the homepage)
"introduce yourself and feedback" (takes you to that subsection
And on the right, you can use the jump to function to go to another subsection.
Then at the very bottom of the screen on the left you have the "home" link which will take you to the homepage.
My Phone (the Nokia E72 - nokias blackberry which is cr@polla) allows you to click options then webpage refresh. But I am guessing all phones are different.
If you want to go to the last post you read, dont click on the thread title but the little box next to the posters name. (to the bottom right of the name).
Hopefully that will sort any issues - its the best we can offer!

Is the jump to function meant to be on every topic?Hobo wrote:And on the right, you can use the jump to function to go to another subsection.

On mine (HTC Wildfire) it doesn't let you refresh the page unless you go to the top of the page and refresh.

It should be - if it doesnt appear on a section, let the admin team know (not that we can do much about it!)

Also, under the last post on the left hand side are three small arrows (they look like < > and ^). If you click the 'up' one it will take you back to the top of the page.
You can also use the other two to view the previous and next topics.

I believe that 606v2 is now over its honeymoon period. What will you do to attract more people to post on 606v2?

Re: Feedback
We have link ups with a number of websites and companies who provide links to V2 in order to increase awareness. We also have a large number of Twitter accounts that are very popular. Linked to this are the Q&A's that have been published here, these have been 'tweeted' to large numbers of people which has helped to keep the new members being attracted to the site.
For example, in the last week we have had around 60 new members join us.
We would love for any other ideas that users may have to be shared with us! We need everyone to help our continued growth, so if you think of something let us know.

A big improvment
I missed 606 and was delighted to learn from my son that this site has taken it's place. I find it far superior to the old site with very much more sensible reasoned discussion and less stupid wind-ups. I am an exiled Welshman and rugby is my main sporting interest but it is interesting to occasionally browse through the chatrooms of other sports.
