The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of the captains of the World Cup Quarter Finalists pictures on the bar. We've got Sam Warburton, Brian O'Driscoll, Lewis Moody, Thierry Dusautoir, John Smit, James Horwill, Felipe Contepomi and Richie McCaw.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Would have started Sexton over ROG for this one. But, Ronan is playing at the top of his game, sooo. Alternative backup is on the bench if and when required.
Hope Rory makes it. Its great news that they are even considering him, I thought he was on the plane home. He may be ok for the SF...
Warburton wears SOB pajamas.

Hi Cari darlin. How's you today?
Son No.1 flew back this morn. Son No. 2 is leaving for Oz soon.
Ah well... it was great to spend precious time with them.
And they are happy.

I'm not knocking rhe Irish support, there's lots of it, but looking at the clobber on view, the majority is already resident in NZ.

Its true Hound. SO many Paddies down in OZ and NZ already. Also been reading that a lot are coming in from nearer parts of Asia. There are plenty of tickets available. Even for the Final. I wonder why?
Kiwis are blaming the prices - which have been slashed massively for the Final and SF's.
The Paddies will scoop them up.

Most definitely Hound. I’d say over half of the Irish people at the world cup were living in NZ or Aus anyway. We’ve probably picked up a few locals too, after the Aussie game like. No harm, it’s all a massive boost for the players so I don’t care where the support is coming from.
It is slightly sad to think the people in the crowd are the generation that was cast aside after the celtic tiger though. Off the top of my head I know about 10 people in their mid 20’s who emigrated to Aus and are now at the world cup. It would be nice to have them home, but I’m glad they’re having a good time!

Aye they will gibbo even at $NZ300 for the cheapest seat. But why bother with the final?
Some of the crowd at the weekend emigrated a while ago, judging by the shirts on view. They would have been at Ravenhill for Jackie Kyle's Grand Slam.

Yeah mate, there are lots of Irish in Oz for yonks. 1st prison-ships yeah?
I remember the 5 quid tickets, when they were screaming for people to come. Now, anyone over 30 is ooot. Unless they are sponsored by a company.

Afternoon all!
I read somewhere that the Kiwis felt the atmosphere for the Ireland v Australia game was the best they had ever experienced at Eden Park, AB matches included!
That is quite something.

Afternoon, Mrs P!
Gibbo, I feel quite bad for luring these flies to their sticky end. But it has to be done. Gassing them wouldn't be any more pleasant for the poor blighters.

Missed my post in the last pub then Gibbo about what happens after Saturday?
Tommy had to wear a silly outfit around the hotel and gym today as a "punishment" for something from the rest of the squad. It's a bit of pointless act really cause he'd look lush in a binbag.

Take your pick, Glas:
The following are disorders of olfaction:
Anosmia – inability to smell
Cacosmia – things smell like poop
Dysosmia – things smell different than they should
Hyperosmia – an abnormally acute sense of smell.
Hyposmia – decreased ability to smell
Olfactory Reference Syndrome – psychological disorder which causes the patient to imagine he or she has strong body odor
Parosmia – things smell worse than they should
Phantosmia – "hallucinated smell," often unpleasant in nature

I will have to avoid contact with everyone in the world until the afternoon and try to avoid the result before watching it.

Ah Gibbo, if only it were that simple. Two of the three girls will probably be watching it at home with the wife. Sadly I will be in car, driving the eldest to her rehearsal. Takes an hour and a half to get there, and rehearsal is 10am to 1pm, so have to hang around and then bring her home, so won't get to watch the game until half 2 at the earliest.
