First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of pub regulars. We've got the big group pic from the HEC final in Cardiff, plus insets of ll those who couldn't make it

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Is that down? Could've been stopped by a Puma's boot.

yellow for the Pumas, and you know, I don't think that is a try, some fantastic defence from Argentina. I don;t think it touches the covering of the posts.

Nice to see it's not only in Wales' matches that the Mexican wave starts up. I really hate them because 'they' don't know when to stop!

I love that question from Nigel, asking whether Weepu had moved the ball forward. Shades of Arwel Thomas in a Swansea-Llanelli derby years back. The Llanelli fans were up in arms.

33-10 now after a good NZ try, not quite sure how they managed to keep the ball in play tehre though!

Got to feel for Argentina, they don't deserve this score line really.

New Zealand vs Australia
France vs Wales

Tipping Australia in the first. For whatever reason I think the AB fear the Ozzies the most. They where the last team to beat them and then throw in the Cooper factor who'll probably have the game of his life.

France/Wales is more difficult. Now they're in a WC semi with a good chance of getting through to the final I wonder if the attitude in the french camp will change. Also Parra isn't a 10, that's got to change. Think I'll go and review tapes of the French anthem during the tongan and English matches to see if I can find a tell. Wales have a dilemma in the form of Hook. Every welsh back played their shirt off, so who do you drop? I'll wait and see the teams before I call this.

we don't drop anyone Willy, baring injury, I don't want the Welsh team changed. Hook is a good utility back and a great player to have on the bench, he isn't better than any of the players that started against Ireland.

Gibbo, disagree about Jennings. He has never looked like international standard when playing for Ireland. He wouldn't have made a difference. it was the backrow of Wales' that did the damge not just Warbs.

Sam Warburton looks very comfortable dealing with the media another reason he could possibly in the future be a very good Lions captain

I don't remember anybody saying AWJ should be captain but I do remember a few suggesting that Ryan 2008 GS should be in the running prior to his injury.

Afternoon folks. Argentina did not deserve that scoreline.

At the time AWJ was worth a shout as Lions skipper, but on a like for like basis with 1997, POC was going to be the man.

Hi dreamer, I'm in the pub in Wycombe prior to Wasps v Bath, supping a beer from Rugby brewery called Play On. Not something England will be doing Sad

Oh well, at least there's nothing for me to fret over now and I can just enjoy the games to come.

Afternoon. Toooo much guinness and RedWine last night but did sleep very well admittedly. Missed all the rugby so I have been catching up.

Well done Aus and NZ this morning. Two mouthwatering semis to look forward to. Wales are carrying he hopes of the "home" nations so we must all get behind them.

Just looking out side and can see the old provincial swords being sharpened and the ROG/Sexton battle will rage for days. Some silly calls for guys to be retired and some sillier ones for picking guys who aren't even first choice for their clubs.

Afternoon

Interesting first 40 minutes at the MadStad. Irish up 16-10 at the break but living dangerously and missing a lot of tackles. Worcester could have had another couple of tries, Andy Goode controlling things brilliantly for them.

Irish need to step up a gear second half otherwise we could come unstuck here.

He's been good so far this season Mrs Penfro. Very good in attack. Worries me defensively at times, but looks like he will be a very good signing for us, gives us options at 12 as he has a completely different game to Hape, so we can vary our gameplan to suit who we are playing against.

That's a good result for Wasps Hound, you needed that after a couple of defeats.

How did Chris Bell play? He seemed to start the season pretty well.
