The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of pub regulars. We've got the big group pic from the HEC final in Cardiff, plus insets of ll those who couldn't make it
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Thomond wrote:Stag, I can see where Rodders is coming from. I saw a documentary the other day about Kurt Warner a legendary QB. As his career was winding down,he signed to the New York Giants as a backup. The Giants had a rookie at QB named Eli Manning. In one game Manning ended up throwing 4 interceptions whereby Warner was thrust into action. After the game Warner criticised the Coach of the Giants saying Eli would never develop if he didn't learn from his mistakes. Manning remained starter for that season and won the Superbowl 3 years later.
Different sports but is it a simlar scenario?
Kurt Warner led Arizona to the Superbowl game a few years after that when there was a young quarter back behind him. Sometimes you just have to think in the now.

Excellent riposte sir.
Hope the Op went perfect man. My bestest mate in Ireland had one a while ago. He is well on the way to recovery after it. It took a while. But he's without pain now and back drinkin pints and chasing wimmin.

Jeez Kenny I knew you'd had surgery, didn't realise it was a back op! Explains why you've been in so long though, I did wonder. Large <midletonveryrare> for you, Gibbo swears it has medicinal properties
Miss you too Gibbo and MrsG. What date is that and I'll have a look-see.

This is hilarious;

Wales conniving their way to victory over 'honourable' Ireland. But the best part is, that yer Welsh one is rising to it!
WUM and they go for it... very, very funny.

Bore da! Still in getting up early mode. 9am is a terrible time got a kick off. Ruins the morning. 7.30 would be perfect in my view.

Bore da pawb / good morning all.
The bad thing about the 9 o'clock kick-off is that there's plenty of time between waking up and the match starting to worry about the result and what could go wrong, but not enough time to forget about it while you're doing the shopping or housework or whatever.

When McGeady finally puts in a good cross, Ireland score. It's about time. McGeady is really awful.

9am is perfect, get up at 8am, have a shower, eat breakfast, then ready for the rugby. None of this getting up earlier then that nonsence.

There are a few Welsh posters outside who are absolutely overjoyed at having the opportunity to belittle English fans. They're an embarrassment. Why can't people just be happy for their own success without mocking the (relative) failure of others? I don't get it.

I am looking at the proposals for Ravenhill redevelopment. Ground capacity will be 18,000 and the target is to be fully complete by May 2014. Out for Consultant tendering at the minute. Would be great to be involved from a business and sporting perspective.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I don't get it either Luckless. I actually nearly had a standup argument with a friend of mine who I met on Saturday afternoon rubbing his hands in glee that England were knocked out and that was "the main thing". I nearly lost it he didn't give a monkeys that Ireland lost. The mind boggles.

Morning all. Rav, I thought that 20k was likely to become the threshold for staging HC QF-and-onwards matches?Rava wrote:I am looking at the proposals for Ravenhill redevelopment. Been thinking in the last few days - do people see Sexton as a youngster?
- 24 caps for Ireland
- 26 years of age
- 2 Heineken Cup winners medals
I mean nobody says that Andrew Trimble is a kiddie and they are the same age!

The Irish team is fully of these bloody tokens it seems. Its a bit like how Scotland pick a few token players who actally play IN Scotland
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Trimble made his debut in 2005, Sexton in 2009. That’s probably the only reason.
Rav, you looking to get a piece of the action on Ravers? That would be class.
Morning (just about) all. <tea>

Stag, I think it's because Sexton is quite baby-faced, whereas Trimble is more horse-faced.

In Scotland they pick Evans as a token creative player.
