Wales can rally behind this and the French will now relax and forget to win.
it may weld the team together...
i am surprised at the decision though...!
very disappointed by Warburton... Silly mistake

Feel bad for Wales but it was a stupid and ridiculous moment from Warburton, you can't decide halfway through a tackle that I'll drop him.

For the sake of the match yellow plus a ban from the next match would have been better.

Losing Jones and Warburton is the equivilent of the all blacks losing McCaw and Carter...

It wasn't a red cause he didn't drive him into the ground.

Wales have an excuse if they lose anyway!
It was extremely stupid by warburton. There has been an IRB directive sent out on those type of tackles. It was at least a yellow card and although a red card is harsh its a fair decision. Like you saying he dropped him on his neck and clerc is lucky that its not worse.
Charteris has been immense in this tournament, another important tackle, totally justifying his place over davies an making me look like a fool for not believing in him.

Hook misses another kickable penalty, with Wales a man down they just can't afford that

Re: Post MATCH discussion THREAD - Wales vs France
I've seen a tip tackle that only got a penalty, so how is that consistent?
If you pick the man up, you have to put him down, if you don't it's a yellow.
If it were consistent, every tip tackle where the player was dropped would have been a red card.
No consistency whatsoever, total bollix.

Jeebus Hook has lost his kicking boots. Thats a bigger problem for Wales than Warbuton getting sent off.

If you want tacklers to have a chance of keeping hold of players then let's get rid of these skin tight shirts
After saying that he should not have lifted him.

That's not true, the laws state that you must bring the player safely to the ground. Rolland has sent players off before for this type of tackle, iirc jauzion was sent off against wasps in the hec a few years ago.

Kiwi, rules are rules. He can't give him a yellow for the sake of the game if it was a red card offence in Rolland's eyes he should go. Wales and Warburton must live with the consequences of their idiotic tackle. They're putting in a great effort at the moment and I'm hoping they can maintain it!

If thats a red then I'd expect to see about 4-5 reds this weekend in the Rabo and Prem, which of course won't happen.
Rolland lost his cool, unless there was something else after the tackle but we don't know as the cameras weren't watching nor were the commentators.

The red is justifiable but I don't think there would be too many complaints if it had been yellow.

Thats why you don't pick a youngster as captain.
Such a shame for the lad, he looked to pumped up during the anthems as he wasn't singing.

Look everyone, the red is fine but in sending him off - clerc is fine - he might as well have blown the final whislte and given the game to france. yellow would have been appropriate and a citing if necessary

Trouble is if he dares to suggest that Wales arent the best thing ever and may have done something wrong he will get a flood of complaints. The broadcasters bend over backwards to patronise the provinces

They are by far the better side today no question. Only have themsleves to blame if they bow this, it is there for the taking even after the card

Gatts, it's not the refs job to make the game a spectacle. If it was a red card offence, then he should have given a red. You suffer the consequences of your decisions. Wales are still well in this.

Re: Post MATCH discussion THREAD - Wales vs France
On the plus side, at least Toby gets plenty of practise picking a ball up from a retreating Dragons scrum.
Hook really needs to get his boots on fast though, or we need the Count on and get Halfpenny on the long range efforts.

It's a very gracious and sporting gesture of the Welsh to go a man down to make the game a better competition. It was looking like a walk over until then.

A good ref should take the occasion into consideration. Its a world cup semi final... players will have a little extra adrenaline which is what I think happened with Warburton.
It was a bad tackle, it was a certain yellow. But a red, I'm not convinced.
