First topic message reminder :
Well played France a deserved winner... great effort by Wales but silly mistakes cost us a better result...
Good luck to Australia and New Zealand tomorrow

Re: Post MATCH discussion THREAD - Wales vs France
Cowshot thats why he got sent off. He's not allowed to release him in the air. He has to bring Clerc down in a way where his upper body or head doesn't hit the ground 1st.
Ok, I'm convinced. It's red. Still don't think Warburton intended it and the game has ended up spoiled because of an incident where no-one was hurt and nothing happened.
Phillips CRUISED home! France are dire, dire, dire!

God France are awful. Nice try wales.
I think its fair to say that the winners will be coming from the other semi.
Jones, I can't believe he missed it. Wales should be well ahead.

Re: Post MATCH discussion THREAD - Wales vs France
Phillips shoudl be ashamed of celebrating before the score there, disgarce to rugby etc.
HOOK YOU T1T ARGHHHHHHHHH
Such a brave performance form Wales. France are appalling, even worse than teh england side that made the final last time. Wales need to win this for the sake of the game.

If Wales had kicked their goals they'd be walking this, 14 men or no.

If a tackled player's legs travel above his hips it's a potential "tip tackle" and the tackler has the responsibility to put the player down to ground safely, if the tackler fails to put the player down safely it's an offence that merits anything from a penalty to a red card, prior to the WC POB stressed that tip tackles would be treated seriously by the referees. Therefore you could only expect a penalty for the mildest form of infringement, at the other end of the scale you should expect a red card, along with a lengthy ban, for stuffing a player head first into the turf.
One would imagine based on that scale that picking a player up and tipping him past horizontal and then dropping him onto his shoulders and back, would merit a yellow and nothing more.
That was not one of the worst tip tackles at this WC and therefore IN MY OPINION, never a red card based on the level of consistency shown by referees so far, and never a red card in any other eventuality.
I'm comfortable with my understanding of the Laws thank you, and if you seriously believe that could have broken Clerc's neck, I think we should all thank our lucky stars that we weren't crippled in our teens.
Rolland bricked it.
If you look back at other similar incidents involing these sort of tackles and rolland, he is consistent. He has sent off at least two other players in the past few years for similar offences.

Doubt it will come to anything but a player was banned for life for blinding a guy in exactly the same way...you arent suppsosed to hand off to the face with extended fingers like that. Couldnt in a million years be deemed malicious or intentional in this case though.
Did like teh unbiassed commentry describing it as "a great handoff"

Why didn't they go for the drop goal!
Seemed like a bad error from me, but no-one has been making good kicks for Wales. Perhaps no-one believed...? Perhaps they thought still time...?
