He was pushed mainly to 13 due to Barkley being the golden child at Bath, not enough gas to make much effect there. Not a fan, good defence but such a limited game it's amazing he received so many caps.

He wasn't pushed there, he started there and played most games there. Only played 12 when barkley was injured. England played him at 12 way before we did and probably more often. Dark time for English centres, but not as bad as the noon erinle days! Ug

"only played 12 when Barkley was injured"

Isn't that the same as saying Barkley playing pushed him to 13 lol

No because pushing him there suggests he started somewhere else, which he didn't. He started at 13, regardless of Barkley. In fact, Johnson asked us to play him at 12

He did play 12 when Barkley was injured, when he returned he was pushed back to 13.

As I said Barkley pushed him to mainly playing 13. I didn't say Hape was first selected as a 12 and pushed to 13, your misreading what I'm putting

Should of held onto Crane then! Think he might be 1st choice again at Tigers when he gets over the injury. Started the big games ahead of Waldrom when fit last year

Think they liked to go Crane starting as he tends to make the hard yards better and does more of the dirty stuff while Waldrom would come in for the last 20/30 minutes to run against tired legs for the big games (Croft at 6 usually) I know thats what they did for the playoffs anyway. Not a bad option to have really is it!

With people mentioning Sheridan's lack of form in the predos, i was wondering on the whole would i receive better predos playing Imoliek over Sheridan? This is especially a concern due to Dickinson being in the Scotland Squad for the 6 nations.

Flux.....this weeks fixtures. First AP game!!

Aviva Premiership Round 1

Newcastle Falcons v Northampton Saints
Exeter Chiefs v Harlequins
Saracens v Gloucester Rugby
Leicester Tigers v Sale Sharks
Bath Rugby v London Irish
London Wasps v Worcester Warriors

Right lads....play this how you want but due to the shortish season those two games played act as a "full pre-season".

New players involved at clubs have in theory been there for 2 months or so and have had numerous games/training sessions to bed in.

I think drawing a line of say Wednesday night for the lads to get foreigns/champ signings in and then players signed after that will require bedding in (on my part anyway)

Everybody ok with this?

No doubt I will get a dirty pint for my first league game as captain. Played friended as captain. So shouldn't be too different!

Good thread on main boards about picking your England team but you can include a player from eack of the 6 Nations squads...here's mine:

1. Mullen
2. Servat
3. Cole
4. Palmer
5. Gray
6. O'Brien
7. Wood
8. Parisse

9. Youngs
10. Flood
11. Ashton
12. Roberts
13. Tuilagi
14. Sharples
15. Foden

I think Servat would really add to our scrummaging unit and he's a big carrier, Grey would give us a solid lineout and another carrying option in the pack. I was torn between Warburton & SOB in the backrow but felt SOB would rellay give us some exploviseness around the fringes and Parisse a bit of class at 8. Tough in the back......12 is the obvious position and it was either Mermoz or Roberts. Punted for the bif Welshman to gives us a serious battering midfiled to steam roller teams!

I got involved in that as well, was really tricky actually. I wasn't far away from what you suggested though. Really wanted to get some big game experience in the pack.

Corbs
Hartley
Cole
Lawes
POC
Wood
Dusatoir
Parisse

Youngs
Flood
Ashton
Roberts
Tuilagi
Evans
Foden

Struggled for a scotsman, thought about Ford at hook. Its slightly different from my post on the main board, where I had Gray instead of POC, Sexton for Flood and Sharples takes his place back on the wing

Well after last weeks result, it should be a walk in the park for you.

Just one quick point

Its amazing how the job of a 6 has changed from doing the unseen work, to standing on the wing doing no work, and then getting dump tackled by extremely hard hitting, tough tackling centres like Paddy Wallace. But i suppose thats how the game has evolved Whistle
