The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of Maxime Medard* above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
Last Pub: https://www.606v2.com/t21314-the-dew-drop-inn-virtual-rugby-pub
* While the other suggestion of Owens, Thomas and Hughie had merit, I couldn't face having Hughie's mug on the wall

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
but of course Asbo! we need to have some form of Scottish blood in our side, now that Monty is out.
Saints:
15 Ben FODEN
14 Chris ASHTON
13 George PISI
12 Tom MAY
11 Vasily ARTEMYEV
10 Stephen MYLER
9 Martin ROBERTS
1 Soane TONGA’UIHA
2 Dylan HARTLEY (capt)
3 Brian MUJATI
4 Samu MANOA
5 Mark SORENSON
6 Calum CLARK
7 Phil DOWSON
8 Roger WILSON
Replacements
16 Mike HAYWOOD
17 Alex WALLER
18 Paul DORAN JONES
19 Christian DAY
20 Ben NUTLEY
21 Lee DICKSON
22 Ryan LAMB
23 Scott ARMSTRONG
That is a horribly strong side, although expect Roberts to get a hard time from the home crowd (he's an ex-Scarlet). With Scarlets without Timani and Monty, we might strugle physically.
If we are to win, it won't be by more than 7. Scarlets by 4 for me.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ha, sorry Billy!
oooo I love it when the team's get announced, just makes it seem so much more real.
Also just spent the last 20mins on hold to the ticket office, just managed to get my friend a ticket thank goodness! I've never had to wait on the phone to buy them before which means it's super busy down there. Really, really hope this means we're going to break the 10K mark for the crowd!

I reckon so Billy, just hope that Saints bring a fair few travelling support with them too. The atmosphere in the Barn afterwards at the Munster match was brilliant as there were so many away fans that stayed on. Really want to the same thing to happen tomorrow

Surprised that Saints have benched Lamb, he's been in good form. Still think they will have too much for the Scarlets though (sorry dreamer).

Just done my SG picks. Gambled on a fair few, think I might be seeing myself drop out of the top 10 this weekend.
Pete - if you're still about, what do you make of LI's chances against the Blues? I found that one really hard to call. Both sides have been so inconsistent this season.

Afternoon all.
excited about a weekend of rugby? I know I am.
Now to fob the GF off where possible.
The Ireland Wales game is the 5th February isn't it? was supposed to go to a family christening that day. oops. always missing family days.
Happy with the Leinster team. ideal world would have liked to have Lukey about and Strauss even on the bench but I hope we can do a job on them.
Great to see Dave Kearney get a start as well. he has been good this season so deserves his shot. and Of course Rob Kearney replied to my tweet as he always does.
He is a right gent that lad.

Certainly not because of the Rugby! You've only been to 2 games since the start of December! Fitz picked up an injury last week and Strauss took a belt in the face, not ideal but O'Malley's on the bench which will free up McFadden to go to the wing. Isa Rob and Dave all cover fullback so it's a pretty malleable backline. Just hope Cronin lasts for the full 80 though.

2 out of 3 it might be but 2 games in 6 weeks hardly means you don't make it to family things....because of the rugby.
You going to the Montpellier match next week or is there a wedding on?

Pete - if you're still about, what do you make of LI's chances against the Blues? I found that one really hard to call. Both sides have been so inconsistent this season.
dreamer, I have absolutely no idea is the honest answer. If we play like we did away in Paris we will beat the Blues comfortably. If we play like we did away at The Rec, we will get our backsides handed to us on a plate.
The heart says we will go out and give it a lash and run in some tries and set the pool up for a real thrilling finale, but the head says we won last weekend and we've not strung back to back wins together since the beginning of September, so the Blues will take the points and all but wrap up the pool.
We have our first choice front 5 playing, so the set piece should go ok, but our back row is a worry. We have Bryn Evans (a lock) playing at blindside and David Sisi (an 18 year old number 8 making his first start for the club) playing at openside against Sam Warburton. Alex Gray is at 8, but he too is young and inexperienced, and we have no back row forward on the bench, which means if any of them get injured Garvey will have to go into the back row, with Casey or Sandford coming on at lock. We also have our 3rd choice 10 and 13 starting, with a centre pairing that have never started a game together before.
Taking all that into account, the most likely outcome knowing us is that we go out and tear it up and pull off a fantastic win.
Who knows. Going to be fun finding out though!

Have to say that when I read the Scarlets team, especially the bench I had a nice warm feeling in my stomach and felt a wave of excitement surge through me.
That may just have been the Tesco Chicken and Bacon Sandwich I'd just eaten though.

that's some baptism for Sisi there Pete!
Warbs is your only issue in the backrow from the Blues I feel. Their front row isn't up to too much this season and their 2nd row is only so-so.
No Roberts playing nor Henson (I know, I know I've mentioned him, but he's actually been playing okay).
I think it's just so close to call. Have gone for the Blues but regretted it as soon as I pressed submit. going to be a nail biter I reckon
