First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Denis Hickie, Shane Horgan, Ben Morgan and Selorm Kuadey above the bar!

This is amazing! I thought nothing would top last weekend! Amazing! Connachts commitment would bring tears to your eyes!

Their effort is incredible! I hope the Ulster boys watched that tonight because all the provinces should feel inspired by how connacht have played!

Can't believe it! Ulster through again, 3 provinces in the QF!

We put the passion into our performance Connacht put into theirs, we can do anything over there in France.

We had an away quarter-final last year and it was tough. We've got another very tough assignment; but it's a free chance to try and line up a home game that would give us a real tilt at this trophy.

What a night of Heineken Cup Rugby I need a lie down! Brilliant by Connacht and Gloucester, absolutley brilliant! And Ulster through to the quarters, completely feicen brilliant! Have to feel for Harlequin's fans though it just wasn't to be I guess, awful weather at the Sportsground and a home team overflowing with passion!
After all my talk earlier of Tououse possibly getting 2 LBPs, doesn't seem so far fetched now MrsP eh? Hug

This is Connacht's night for sure but for Ulster to qualify from that group is amazing! I really thought it was mission impossible when the draw was announced.

3 more wins tomorrow and we can go into the 6N on a high!

Feckin amazing!

Got a lucky break with other results but I suppose if Clermont do beat us there aren't any other teams that would finish runners up who have had been better value than us.

Really, really sad news though; Etta James has passed away.

Sixth seed for sure. Hold the phone, if Ulster DID beat ASM we'd probably finish as third seeds...

I'm just starting to think of permutations for the quarter-finals... it's sinking in we'll be there again. Don't care how we got there, we're THERE!

Oh man. I'm giddy now, I cannot wait to see who we are playing. Hope we can win the right to host the match. Last season we lost and it was a brilliant weekend had. We could be coming up against any number of great teams!

No-one gave us a prayer in that group! Within the space of two weeks;

Ulster resign Ruan Pienaar for another two years, hand Leicester their worst ever European defeat and qualify for the quarters without kicking a ball. Sparky himself couldn't have written that script.

Everything is coming up red and white. Are we going to be brought down to earth with a bump tomorrow or is this dream run going to keep going?

Evening all

Just finished watching Connacht playing. Totally exhausted, can't imagine how the players feel.

Marvellous game - one for Union purists; think a lot of non-rugby fans would have been bored rigid by it; but the passion and the commitment from Connacht, every man-jack of them was tremendous.

Thought Quins showed somewhat limited strategy; pick and drive was great when playing into the wind, but thought they would vary it a little in the second half; silly by Robshaw to go for the scrum rather than the points; also did Evans not watch O'Connor's kicking direction, well to the right of the posts then the wind brought it in.

Great win; read back a little and noticed one or two of you fessing up to a tear in your eyes! Did you think Quinlan had too when they went back to him after the game, he looked really emotional.

The giddiness is also partly due to the lack of sleep for 36 hours, but look, it's mainly the rugby.

Notch I have the paper and pen out and with my rugby head on I predict the following (based on how I think the games will go tomorrow and Sunday)

Leinster v Ulster
Cardiff v Edinburgh
ASM v Toulouse
Munster v Sarries

I could be very wrong though.

Yeah but a real possibility of Toulouse at home if we win, unless I'm very much mistaken. Now there's an incentive.

McLaughlin has already come out and said it changes nothing for Ulster; we want that home draw Smile

Leinster v Ulster would be amazing. Not one Id want either. Give us someone else. Dont want Munster either. Need to avoid ASM and Toulouse. Anyone else would do. Embra. Blues. Sarries.

Take that as a compliment. I HATE inter-pro HC knockout games. They have a mind of their own.

Absolutely Notch we are playing to win tomorrow! but if we don't the most likely scenario is Leinster or Munster away based on my calculations, unless I am missing something?

Would love to get Toulouse at home but an away day to one of our southern cousins would be awesome! Its win win!
