The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Denis Hickie, Shane Horgan, Ben Morgan and Selorm Kuadey above the bar!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
no news as of yet Cymro sorry.
Ah man, a win out on France, great way for us to finish off the group
Just wish we could play more like that when the pressure is more on us though!
Rava - diolch! I was in my own little Scarlet world And aye, think it means we get in the Amlin now, or it at least gives us the best possible shot at it now. Not sure if other results need to go our way, I just knew we needed us, Bath and Munster to win.

Zebo is the man. In Denver they have Tebow, in Munster we have Zebo!
Have been saying it since the Senior Cup game in 07, he will be an international and a top one. (would be the first coloured person to represent Ireland, I think too)
Best backplay I've seen from us all season. An all-round decent performance, the scrum being a big negative. We're coming to put Ulster back in their box! Seriously great result for the Ulster lads today, missed the match but had Clermont by 5, so I'm having a good week on SG with my gutsy picks.

A guide to French commentary:
Tombola - knock on/interception
Recoupe - retains the ball
Attention! - line break
Ooh la la! - other side does something good
Magnifique - French side do something good
Vite! Vite! - French winger making break
Joie de vivre - flair
Directement - Munster.

Notch,
Think back to the initial draw man. Could you have envisioned this scenario?
It is unreal. It is the best we could have dreamed of.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I was the one bullishly and defiantly saying Ulster had as much a chance as Clermont and Leicester to top the group when the draw was made!
I was saying I expected all three teams to win all their home games and beat Aironi twice which is exactly what happened. Bonus points- such vital currency. Our failure to take one at Welford Road cost us 1st place. That was a bitter pill to swallow too. Like today we absolutely went toe to toe with them just weren't quite clinical enough.

I think we are through to the Amlin you know. If true, that's some great ranking points for us for next season. And apparently, if Stade win tonight, we are away to Brive?
I so don't understand how the Amlin works!

I'm beginning to think Earls is capable of being at least a temporary centre for Ireland, he is growing and growing into the role.
Also a team I help coach hammered the current Munster U-17 Champions 42-3 so great day.

I can't put into words how proud I am of that Scarlets defensive display. Such guts, such determination, and with our supposedly "weaker!" pack. Amazing.

Well done on the win Thomond. Reluctantly agreeing on the Earls statement, based on his performance today.
Does anyone else think the Jeff are going to have to take a serious look at what is happening otherwise they are in danger of having their teams competing as second and third seeds in the HC. I can honestly see the day that NO English Premiership team qualifies for the Quarter Finals.

Dreamer will you now accept we are so much better with Ritchie Pugh playing? He was flying up and tackling backs all day. He even overtook Gilbert in coast mode during his try. Shingler, Morgan, Pugh with Turnbull on the bench for me

not so much better, but he had a cracker of a game (apart from the stupid penalty he gave away end of 1st half!). Was so proud of him, of all of them, the entire squad. To go out to France with so many injuries and put in a display like that. Ah man, amazing!

Not me Gibbo. I'm white in a very literal sense
After my all-nighter on Thursday a Portuguese classmate of mine said to me, "Eh, Andrew, I know this is because you are Irish but it is like the Walking Dead".
Took me a while to realise what he was on about! Think a few of us were like the walking dead at that point.

Apologies Gibbo, wasn't sure which one would be more PC. Also Joey Barton even showed Munster some love "Munster look the real deal here tonight. Been poor all campaign but turn it on when it matters. Sign of champions!!" "Performance wise. Tonight was the real Munster IMO"

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Munster, Leinster, Clermont, Toulouse and Ulster are all in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals. Saracens only need a point to join them.
Edinburgh or Cardiff will take the last group winners slot but neither is qualified yet because if they lose either Ospreys or Biarritz could sneak in as one of the best runners-up.

An Amlin spot is great! 2 years ago and when the HEC pools for this year were drawn I'd have bitten your arm off for one!

It's a long shot for Ospreys. 4 points behind Edinburgh and Cardiff at the start of play and away to a Biarritz side with the exact same chance to go through as they do.
Whereas Edinburgh and the Blues are both at home against teams with nothing to play for.

I know! and diolch Tis progress from last season MrsP and that's all we can ask for. Just keep improving each season. Getting to a HC QF would have been magical for us, but we didn't play well enough when it mattered. Now, we've a great shot at improving our ranking points for next season.
The defense today....couldn't believe it. Just amazing, we've improves so much in that aspect in just one season, it's fantastic!

Notch fair play for tipping Ulster, I really thought we'd need a miracle to qualify and now I am devestated we didn't win the group..how quickly things change!

Yeah, you could. The middle way is most likely though.
I'm don't know who would get through if Biarritz or Ospreys and Cardiff or Edinburgh both finished 2nd on 17 points. Who has more tries?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The Blues are ahead of Edinburgh if they finished level on points having got an LBP in Murrayfield.
Just as well as they have only scored 6 tries so far in the 5 games they've played so would find it tricky to compete with the runners up from other groups.
I can't see Racing beating them in Cardiff with nothing to play for though, can you?

French teams ALWAYS give it everything in European dead rubbers
If Cardiff lose that they don't deserve to be in the Amlin, never mind the HC.
