First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

This is the first Pub of 606v2's second year, here's hoping for another good one.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Augustin Pichot, David Campese, Mal O'Kelly and Jim Williams above the bar!

clap Laugh Ale Yahoo RedWine cider guinness Erm laughing Bubbly mug cuppa Whisky

Thanks Gibbo - something to be said for the booze ban on Good Friday if you can pick me up at the airport that late on a Friday night! Laugh kiss This pub is just so great (sniff). Himself organised to take me to Prestwick - sadly, no chance he could make the gig on a bank hol w/e. Bloody hotel steam

I'm just waiting for the ugly stories to come through. It's a pity there's always some clowns who get a bit carried away - hopefully we wont get a repeat of the ugly scenes of 2005.

Hard to believe it's 30 years since this old classic. The Bob Seeger of Oz they used to call him. He's still doing gigs around here apparently.

Yes mate, plenty of rain up there. In fact, the rain cloud stretches from the top of Cape York down into eastern Victoria... 3000km!
There's so much moisture coming in off the Pacific Ocean. A classic La Nina situation.

Swanny, I sort of had a crush on RLJ (most teenagers did back then) - so cute with that red beret! Very Happy
Australia Day, 26th Jan is the day the ships sailed into Port Jackson. The locals call it "Invasion Day" censored
Most places are closed, like on Bank Holiday - except for certain essential services (petrol station is open)... and pubs. Ale

That's a nightmare game for you. After the 50 pointer in the Rabo, you are expected to win comfortably. Do that and people will say "it went to form". Fail to win convincingly and they'll say "startling loss of form". For Gibbos sake I hope you don't lose.

Not sure how many I can pick up mate, but I’ll let you know when I know.

Glas, I agree. But that’s all external, as long as the team don’t go in expecting to win and not work for it then we should be ok. If we do win I think we’ll be underdogs in the semi anyway, so that might help.

Hug Fair play to you man, if it’s in London I’m there. Without a shadow of a doubt, in fact if it’s in Lyon (rumours are that if ASM win it’s going there) then I might well have to make that trip too.

Hows the new job going by the way?

When the reigning champions reach the semi finals of a tournament and are playing some of the best rugby in that tournament, I don't know how they can be considered underdogs.

At home Leinster have been superb Luckless, however on the road its been hard grafted results, not particularly nice to look at and lucky to get the results in some. Having to travel away for the semi worries me terribly on what we've seen so far this year. However I would be ever so slightly more confident of a result in London than France, I really don't want to go away to France

That’s exactly it Hughie,

At home we won with 2 BPs and we nearly got another against Montpellier, but away we had a draw a 2 wins by less than a score.
Last year we had a really tough route to the final (albeit at home mostly) but this year the we haven’t had a big test yet. This is not gratuitous modesty in the hope of getting compliments, I’m genuinely just a bit concerned.
