The Klitschkos - why do we watch?
First topic message reminder :
Everyone is aware that they have been at the top of boxing for a long time. Their contracts are disgracefully over-binding just so they can have things their own way and make as much money as possible. They are ordered by their adopted German public.
Why do we watch them? It's not really for their absolutely impregnable defences which is about as exciting as grey paint or for their vicious brutal knock-outs as they only happen once in a blue moon now.
No, we watch them because we want to see how they are eventually going to lose.
Vitali will eventually be out-hustled and out-worked. He showed he was slowing down badly last night - he wasn't troubled by Chisora's punches, but Dereck did take the fight to him and he struggled. (well a bit, anyway!!)
And you just know that Wlad's time will come when someone thumps him with a lucky punch on the chin a la Corrie Sanders. It'll probably be in 2019 though, when he's 42...

A strange position because I see them for what they are Oxy?
No - a fair deal for Valuev ahahhaaahahahahahaahahaahahhahahahahaahahahahaahah. They werent willing to line kings pocket valuev would have seen only pennies.

Is that what Vit said? And he's such a gentleman that he never lies even after rescuing a stray cat. In athletics the athlete is responsible for wht goes into his body. He's a steroid junkie. Simples.
And King went to jail. Made time work for him and became the best promoter in history. Only in America. Love the bloke (wouldn;t have him manage me though).
Doubtless you call RJJ a steroid junkie as well then?
Untimately YES (different circs though as what he took was permitted by other bodies).
As long as your consistent.
Course - Vitali could have kept his mouth shut - like RJJ - yet he is criticised more for coming clean?
If he rescued an old lady from a burning building - some of you on here would find something to criticise in the act.
Always consistent....even when I'm not consistent.
If he rescued an old lady he'd make sure the TV cameras were around....Politics.

No Ghosty, you see them as you want them to be. You are dealing in odd ideals rather than hard realities.
Interesting that a rejection out of hand is fair - without any renegotiation.
In one of our many, glorious debates with Az on the subject of Marciano - Windy pointed out that when 99 people are marching right and 1 is marching left - its hard to say the guy who is marching left is heading off in the right direction. At this moment - you're marching left. Along with az.

So you think the brothers are great heavyweights then?
Lets break this down in the simplest terms, they have longevity beating a who's that of current heavyweight boxing while their actual ability is limited.

Oxy, I have seen boxing contracts and largely understand what goes on behind those closed doors. Maybe its an urban myth, but too many rumours float around the ether that the brothers offer slave contracts.

No need to get personal myst. Oxy is simply over-opinionated and gets carried away sometimes.
He knows he's wrong but its probably the Cannuk air that's keeping him going. He wont give up though.

Re: The Klitschkos - why do we watch?
I missed you when you weren't around az. You always manage to bring up a smile.
I'd agree with all of that.
The only part I would point out is - that in terms of "limited actual ability" - what they really lack is a challenge. Haye was supposed to have provided that - and he fell far, far short.

Re: The Klitschkos - why do we watch?
Wladimir has two punches and two punches only in his armoury, the jab and right hook, he is far too limited for my liking.
Vitali has greater variety but feel he lacks speed and genuine power, he's a tough so and so but without true knockout power or speed you'll soon be found wanting at a top level.
In the context of the golden era they would very much be also rans around the level of your Youngs, Lyles and Norton as opposed to your Fraziers, Foreman, Ali or Liston. Seeing either face Liston, Foreman or Ali would be painful viewing for different reasons.

I think they have ability and good at what they do. The HW scene is simply shocking that they stand like a collosus.

Yeah sure Az, why don't you fly off and try to help Floyd and Manny sort out there deal as well...
