The Official 2013 Wales v England bickering thread.
First topic message reminder :
2013 bickering thread
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty.
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
Let it commence

Wales squad named at 11 this morning. It doesn't matter who's called up, we can beat anyone on our day, especially England, even when we lose to them.

Too close to call this year.
France, England and Ireland all have a real chance, Wales might make an appearance but they're beginning to look a little light due to injuries to make a serious challenge for 6 nation glory.

Anyone apart from New Zealand, and perhaps South Africa and Australia. It seems that Wales have been inpotent and infertile when it comes to scoring tries in the matches V the big Southern Hemisphere teams of world rugby in recent years, or maybe I can add in all of Southern Hemisphere teams including minnows such as Argentina and Samoa.

England never beat Wales, just score more points.
Can't be arrrsd to look it up but wonder what the gross points tally is since, F/A I dunno, say since England's low ebb 2004, to 2012. That will be 3 GS to Wales. But what do the actual points F/A look like ?

Maybe 3 Grand Slams to Wales in that time, but how many wins have they registered over one of the top 3 Southern hemisphere teams as well as minnows Samoa and Argentina in that time? A MEASLY 1 WIN OVER AUSTRALIA IN 2008.

Never mind reaching a World Cup Final, Wales don't know even how to beat the whole of Samoa never mind still never managing to even beat the Western half of it!

Looks like a case of the anglos doth protest too much. It's always a joy to watch posters claiming moral victorys for their team which has won 1 championship in 10 years compared to a team that has won 3 Grand Slams. You would all make great statisticians for the government. Its laughable but nice to see all together, I'm sure if you dig deeper you can find some more victorious crumbs on the floor somewhere.

England Wales since 1st Jan 2004 6 all
points difference 82 in England's favour. (301-219) 30 tries to England 18 to Wales
Wales do beat England from time to time but never by very much.

I'm rubbish at this wumming malarkey, i keep deleting my cutting and incisive comments and just saying something nice instead. I feel i've let my country down. I'll try again: Welsh people smell and have tiny appendages. Yeah, take it!

I've already told you, we let you win. It's impossible for England to beat Wales fair and square. We like to make a game of it.

Thanks for posting LostinWales.
The points difference confirms my (admittedly vague) suspicions that England score more points.
Try difference is telling too.

That is because we don't care much about this championship as we know we can win it easily if we prepare for it like we do the World Cup. In contrast Wales have to put all their efforts into concentrating on winning the Six Nations as they have ZERO CHANCE of ever getting to a World Cup Final, never mind winning one.

By about 2 'lucky' England scores. Beyond such an England margin a moral victory is impossibly tiny, unable to stand close scrutiny.

They would have won it in '71 v SA, '75 v NZ ... maybe '79 v Australia ... if the RWC had been around then though

England have no chance in this season's Six Nations.
Dan Cole? Rubbish.
Joe Launchbury? Do me a favour.
Chris Robshaw? See above.
Owen Farrell? Not a patch on Colin Stephens.
Manu Tuilagi? No physicality whatsoever.
Chris Ashton: Too slow for international rugby.

Luckless, no, that 'WUM' was about alright.
About normal for anti English bait, but generally with no takers.
Subtle WUMs: don't get many on this thread but most of us spot them and swim on by.

You do raise an interesting point Jimpy, 3 GS would have been nice, but being an England fan hasn't all been bad.
2007 Rugby world cup final which I don't think any of us saw coming.
2011 6 nations champions.
Ashtons try v Aus, contender for best try ever.
Beating NZ with a record score at Twicks.
Would I swap that for 3 GS, I don't know if I would if I'm being honest.

its been shocking as an england fan vic- but then at the same time the way wales go from GS to such a low level roller coaster i think i would take the nice mellow lazy river of englands recent form and records..

Interesting that England's 'fallow' period coincides with Wales' 'triumphant procession' where it's 6-all and we score more points and tries.lostinwales wrote:England Wales since 1st Jan 2004 6 all
